don't know in terms of open to prove. You can look at Tom Brady and and you know we talked a crap about. Guaranteeing that he would play Betty did promise to me would play better
That's -- is we we can't stand Tom Brady were part about this earlier I think you know you look at that patriots defense and statistically it's terrible that they they played better out of their last playoff game but it's it's one of the worst statistical defense is to ever make it to the super ball. Which he speaks volumes about Brady and the fact the I think. He set a record for the longest time between Super Bowl championships for a quarterback. I think that does speak volumes that would defense he's got this team back in the Super Bowl again.

All mammals in revving up today's -- yesterday's bills. Texans game. All the morning Ohio. Howard series just out of the room we ran somewhere so ominous start things off with yet we talked about this game. And on the same we we talk about all the games that look like this offensively. A brutal performance. -- cornerback another brutal performance no matter who goes in at quarterback so. I don't know what's your overall feeling on on the game on the franchise. Where would you like to begin when not talking about that game because. There are simultaneously a lot of things to say about it and almost all think.

and they wasted the defensive effort because it looked like Perry fuel at a game planet had -- confused. And -- the but the defense really know roll right along in the first Athens. They got three turnovers and took the third turn it over finally put points on the board which is so you know and point number one I mean you know the defense did little football and if you can't do anything more than that you're running gadget play. Third time they get to the football so. It just got to a point where. You know the bills didn't get their first words out of the second half until. You know that last drive. And it's it's like three and out three and out three and out and that the defense just wanna be and -- feel too long and they were just totally. Justin and they've just had nothing left to give in the second half and that's when Houston and totally took over the football game now. If somebody can say well the defense. You know make a stop and get off the field right that's fine. You know you can say that but it just you know eventually got to the point where -- they had nothing left to give.

While -- I guess. With the turnovers. That's one thing and and people are. Excited is the wrong word but people are encouraged by Gerris -- I just got an email about this -- and it's a good point the coaching staff does not necessarily deserve credit because -- injuries he would be in there. So here you have a guy who much like this is the first time -- talked about a guy going in and being better than the starters released producing more. But it at that it was a situation of the coaching staff had to be forced into the spot so. What was the coaching staff waiting for on bird Paul and what's your explanation for why he's been able to be so successful.

That's barely true because -- can't -- And they -- he was just kind of learning things and really we kind of figured by the second or third week he would be in there. Because you know they they wanted to get -- there so. I think it was just one of those deals where there were just kind of bringing him long. Somewhat but he was. I think I feel he was gonna get in there I think that was their plan all along because. When they drafted them I think they've felt -- ever to get him in their policy we don't want you got it can't be gotten injury and that that the things so. I'm not sure that that they want going to get him in there anyway.

Right how about in the explanation for why he's been so good and so different from the of the players that. Have been and that's spot last I don't know five years.

Well gee you know when they drafted in the just talked about it not for the football and that's why they envisioned. Him being they -- roam the field and did his hands on the football. And in this particular case they were right. That's exactly what he does it he has a knack for being around the football and and it is good work hard now to talk about this yesterday that you. Give that game against the jets. He took some of the worst angle that seems they've keepsake on the one but he can't seems like he learns from his mistakes I mean. Make that happen he's young he didn't know what he was doing. But you've seen improvements as he goes along I mean he's not as bad as he was so we eat. You know you saw improvement in the running game wasn't perfect. So it seems like you know what what they teach him he's absorbing it. And you know you can learn from it and you know what's with the way he plays in the passing game you know I did you know live with the mistakes that -- in -- anywhere this year so. There's no offense taken him up because he's horrible against the run and especially since. He seems to be a very smart individual. And seems to be somebody that can learn you know on the fly so. Learn on the fly -- and live with the mistakes.

A couple things I like about him pollen in terms of his. You know you you bring -- of the point of learning. Selling had a a column about on this weekend and Tim Graham did a piece about a -- on the ball -- talked whose dad gill who played in the NFL and -- had 42 career receptions and stuff. But they also I guess he's got a pretty good relationship with a -- is Williams who had a fantastic career as a defense to back in the National Football League and you talked about learning. Thurmond was on and it was last week show. Talk about how -- spurt approached him picking his brains in trying to do some you know learn some different things from whoever it seems like he's the kind of kid. And he's learned a lot from Aeneas Williams obviously and his dad seems -- he's the kind of kid -- just -- in the NFL. How did you do it and it isn't just talk to another cornerback. It's talked to a receiver or a running back in the you know learn from whoever you can learn from and just soaked in all this knowledge of from all these guys who played in the NFL.

Absolutely and you know it. Our guys who are smart I think excel on the game of football I mean they they can figure things out quickly they they know -- to being. And and he just seems to be as smart and with ability I mean you know. And it's so that's kind of rare commodity when you get both. You know there are real smart guy who has a lot of good ability. Can really go -- written you know some players have won some players that the other. Com but to get the combination I think. It's really good birds seems to have --

Ball's coming up Paul Hamilton with a single 30550 to join us and on buffalo football Monday. Mike used the word hopeless or hopelessness on the show on the post game show -- and I want to follow up on apple because all right the -- week. And at the why we teams can you know they can make a quarterback change that to make a coaching change ticket. You know tweak some things philosophically. You know they talk about self scouting and -- and yet. Potter in -- I don't even have the answer this question what could the bills do what changes could they make the trying to help this offense and honestly I don't know. I don't know what they can do it they're there is no quarterback. They they have no more offensive line the play they're there they're constantly getting guys hurt. You know all the the running back situation out of it matters if there's no place for these guys to run I get you to play Fred Jackson more than Marshawn Lynch but in terms of solutions. You have any ideas -- what they can do to fix the offense.

No not violate because the players that. You would need to put in there aren't on the scene. Bombs so I mean you you could change the culture if you want to if you wanted to jump start on that. If you have a guy in mind that they're available and and coaching somewhere else -- that popular thing you can do is to jumpstart on map but. Yeah I mean there's. Dick Jauron decided he's got offensive football coach. And it's failed miserably I mean he doesn't know what he's doing when it comes to offensive football he thought he did. Everything you try it complete disaster. Of the -- of lying. You know all. You know we we -- just plugin people and we wanted to bring anybody -- thing you know and training camp well but didn't work. I mean he just it it. Maybe you can just fire for -- won't forget about anything else you wanna talk about. I mean just the fact that he he thought he -- offense than -- an up close. I mean none. And if you use keyword is where it picture.

They pushed it from what you can tell Paul. Did you about the offensive line when it comes the final say. On on decisions like trading Jason Peters cutting Derrick Dockery. Cutting Langston Walker. -- is -- that guy mean is there any way that that stuffed it would have been done like hey you know we know this is gonna -- all the offensive linemen are gonna hold you accountable or about -- would not gonna fire you know -- because were -- at the line because he had actually fought better do you think he signed off and all that.

And you know that's hard to say because I know there have been cut that have been made that went above his head. Troy Vincent was one. He was cut by Jamal -- And the coaches didn't even know until Troy Vincent came down and told him he was cut. At least assistant coaches -- I -- on new but I know there -- I know the defensive coordinator did not -- and they'll. Vincent came down and told them. So. I know there have been decisions that are made that way I quite honestly it's impossible to know what. Dot courier Langston Walker or if you're peace signed off on it or whatever the Peters would have been about them. You know that's that's that's the negotiation. I don't I don't know if you would add any imploded all on that I had the Peters one I I would doubt he had been put on. The way they do things that I think that was above them.

Right 8030550. Jonathan is buffalo football Monday and Paul Hamilton -- as well here on WGR let's go to Daniel Allen Paul Wright had.

I -- just so long what you think he's gonna blow up this Kmart. Cut up coaching staff or even higher whatever. Draft pick the other guy can pick those you know maybe they're not picking the right -- people it's.

There's nothing. To. Look forward to all this change everybody stated I hate to call click death. I don't think I'm gonna the prevention and I don't know what another game to level three and they're -- and what's in it I mean where are they gonna go.

he's probably in terms of Ralph Wilson he's right now are gonna make any changes while the season's on right.

It looked like it but once again I never try to predict well because I can't he does the other expected -- The unpredictable and Andy you'd just this development don't want to put. Football game with two. I think I don't think so those wrestlers names. Of figure out some way to win at some point somewhere. You know and you know that they have their opt for a few weeks or Dow for a few weeks. The other team doesn't play well whatever -- would again.

Do you think they will. All the whole front office bring in another general manager clear out the scouting and personnel department.

I can't predict troublesome. I'd -- I -- I yet I got my notes that what you wanna hear I can predict that man I do not have any idea what he will do. Nobody does not -- the first round by any idea what that -- Leo.

I nobody I just know what. I keep saying they can't get any lower and yet they keep getting lower and lower every time we say it can't happen.

And that's how they get -- for him not to fight anybody.

And that's why don't I mean at what point. At some point the owner has to stop and realize this is an entire decade of futility. Of mediocre football it's the same people in the front office.

Well if we figured it Dahlia yeah. Village mediocre job before before this season's starter.

and on the use mediocre anymore because mediocre is too complimentary of the team. I mean that I mean that seriously. I don't -- might seem mediocre football and right about now I would love to -- mediocre football because it's clear here.

Give the problem is they they when they get their little six and seven win seasons and they're never. It's not as -- there's been 13 and thirteen but they're not as bad as like two or three wins every year. They can't win enough games they're sick in the -- to seven -- area most of the time. So he doesn't make changes because it's got -- so there's always got off for me there's always something you configure. Their point to as well now there's no hope there is no. Great hope in the corner no next quarterback you think is gonna be the answer or anything that you can say well this is why they won't blow it up there's this through this as your own.

Mediocre means that you also makes that ten agencies as well maybe six to ten wins is mediocre. Eleven Nevada's delete and they don't even date they only tell one side of the mediocrity line and that means that they're not mediocre means to it's it's much too complimentary they are. A brutal team to watch it's a it's a terrible product. The fact that people pay money to see it is it's it's too bad. On this does not too bad they pay money because the games are supposed to be fun they suck the fun out of the games there's nothing redeeming about watching the team actually play. The game day experience still has its merits people who go there like to be outside it was gorgeous yesterday if it -- Power if that if the weather or pork -- seen 15000 fewer people. Because it was really nice out I thought and -- many people I you know what let's be outside and have fun. And they find a way to make it. Just it's insufferable to watch that team play.

Yeah but I didn't think they had any alt button before they think they brought in Terrell Owens to make bounce smoltz. Somewhere -- they always fight hoping that nobody felt better than this group does and they they -- some hot hole. Figure out a way to sell -- but every season well Clinton was all that there was all of next year I don't know what they're gonna bring -- but they'll figure out so.

Let's hope so because they desperately needed they didn't need when they brought in -- a lot of people I think -- I thought this way Paul when they brought and owns it was as that might not be good but at least -- exciting. And that net that did even more they're not exciting and uninteresting so. They -- that by the way an awful blasting -- right lot lot of these tickets were sold renewed and bought before Owens was even sign that's right in a year where. They nosedive that the end and the quarterback look clueless and they couldn't be a 34 and they they couldn't score touchdowns and it. They do because people believe all people believe that Trent Edwards would continue to progress a guy who is like for no would have had a good year and then. Things kind of fell apart lay in -- game against Kansas City and yet it was that he can do it right yet Denver yet he was still young he was supposed to get better he has not gotten any better he's gotten a lot worse and as a result of it. They have to make massive massive change to offset just how. Tired people are watching him and watching Brian Fitzpatrick or fill in the quarterback here or there it's time for something drastic happen and I don't know. People ask me what the free aging quarterbacks out there.

Jobs I don't even know. Not knowing that you actually write all about Nolan is doing -- thing but you know what the funny thing is you could probably do a lot better. You could probably find a guy at that spot that would actually succeed I'm looking at the list. Whoo boy.

I don't know -- one of the better. College quarterback bill I don't know who that is German and you last -- the -- a lot Leo but that's what I'd like them to get their hands on one of the better college quarterbacks states reduce -- total.

Where there's one problem with that -- and and I don't disagree with that I that if you wanna go that route that at least tells me this is our next plan the problem with that is is. They always try to tell you they're they're trying to win now. Right it's about winning now even when they went from Bledsoe lost in it was because they felt they could. Win now there were nine and seven and let go let go Bledsoe to bring -- lost in thinking they were going to get better not realizing.

You're going to take steps back with a young quarterback with Edwards coming in it was let's get critical loss been planned because Edwards is gonna win now or maybe Kelly Holcomb is gonna win now. They have to take their medicine and that's not gonna go while the box office they're gonna lose a lot of ticket holders I think it a lot of people cancel and bailout. I can feel better about the team if they draft -- quarterback Paul but if they do that. I'll probably feel better about the team from my living room rather than from the stadium.

Yemen Ralph Wilson then there at halftime yesterday and says well limestone. Bring your router doesn't try to bring his Super Bowl.

I think he said that did any. What was -- we did anybody -- what.

They all stood up and cheer me. I think you're able it was -- in the crowd I'm not -- well -- I didn't hear any blows people seem very respectful standing which.

You know wired booed Paul Terrell Owens. On is when they introduced the offense. Yet. They -- Terrell Owens are fed up with a lot of -- boot CL -- in the when he scores a touchdown we chant his name. You know as a very strange relationship that we have with Terrell Owens is fan base because you hate him until his horse -- down and like him and then that. Play in the end zone Paul I. They ever showed a replay is not gonna show that they showed a really quick one yeah the fate that was then and number I was at a nice defensive player what happened.

It was put -- this is what I saw I saw the ball. In his hands pop out in the edit this -- the ball popped up to defensive back knocked it away.

Look I didn't see I mean I want three -- to me it looked like the ball was about to get into his hands and -- in the -- put his arm. He went it went parallel to the ground is -- went across Owens body and got in where Sandra the blowers that saint Daimon and it came out but whatever happened the point is where I'm where I'm sitting there. People in my section started going crazy. Yelling at him and not I. And sadness and I think it got knocked away but I'm not sure it doesn't call that a drop first Rich Gannon was yelling at an awful lot of actions -- that's a dropping got to make that flight and they.

Let's get to the people around it's -- out crazy they they so I was gonna wrangles that -- drops. That on news drops that are pretty -- told me I was not.

Well they showed the replay again said that's on the quarterback it's not a drop the ball held up was held up wait too long you put too much air in the fade pattern and you gotta throw better football. His Owens had some time on that.

I did not I did not have led to drops.

They did have the stat though I think it's eight according to the CBS that he has eight drops which leads the national.

for nine point one would not have counted because there was penalty.

OK so yes we're we're in the same air balls very harshly comes drops and there are some things like that. -- last thing where we hit the break here. The Robert Goulet. Memorial moustache to American of the year award was handed out over the weekend did you win.

I do not hear about it's -- of the other ones.

Well you were even nominated I mean at any Italian you know -- it's like the Heisman Trophy come to New York one of the finalists now.

Traders should take care of that stuff forming make sure everything in him also on.

Then make -- think about putting in for his moustache for next year if he can actually learn how to -- now that it's it might take awhile by Paul thank you as always for your time.

If the Giants win the Superbowl, will you consider Eli Manning to be the better Manning?
