A brutal performance. -- cornerback another brutal performance no matter who goes in at quarterback so. I don't know what's your overall feeling on on the game on the franchise. Where would you like to begin when not talking about that game because. There are simultaneously a lot of things to say about it and almost all think.
and they wasted the defensive effort because it looked like Perry fuel at a game planet had -- confused. And -- the but the defense really know roll right along in the first Athens. They got three turnovers and took the third turn it over finally put points on the board which is so you know and point number one I mean you know the defense did little football and if you can't do anything more than that you're running gadget play. Third time they get to the football so. It just got to a point where. You know the bills didn't get their first words out of the second half until. You know that last drive. And it's it's like three and out three and out three and out and that the defense just wanna be and -- feel too long and they were just totally. Justin and they've just had nothing left to give in the second half and that's when Houston and totally took over the football game now. If somebody can say well the defense. You know make a stop and get off the field right that's fine. You know you can say that but it just you know eventually got to the point where -- they had nothing left to give.
While -- I guess. With the turnovers. That's one thing and and people are. Excited is the wrong word but people are encouraged by Gerris -- I just got an email about this -- and it's a good point the coaching staff does not necessarily deserve credit because -- injuries he would be in there. So here you have a guy who much like this is the first time -- talked about a guy going in and being better than the starters released producing more. But it at that it was a situation of the coaching staff had to be forced into the spot so. What was the coaching staff waiting for on bird Paul and what's your explanation for why he's been able to be so successful.
That's barely true because -- can't -- And they -- he was just kind of learning things and really we kind of figured by the second or third week he would be in there. Because you know they they wanted to get -- there so. I think it was just one of those deals where there were just kind of bringing him long. Somewhat but he was. I think I feel he was gonna get in there I think that was their plan all along because. When they drafted them I think they've felt -- ever to get him in their policy we don't want you got it can't be gotten injury and that that the things so. I'm not sure that that they want going to get him in there anyway.
Right how about in the explanation for why he's been so good and so different from the of the players that. Have been and that's spot last I don't know five years.
Well gee you know when they drafted in the just talked about it not for the football and that's why they envisioned. Him being they -- roam the field and did his hands on the football. And in this particular case they were right. That's exactly what he does it he has a knack for being around the football and and it is good work hard now to talk about this yesterday that you. Make that happen he's young he didn't know what he was doing. But you've seen improvements as he goes along I mean he's not as bad as he was so we eat. You know you saw improvement in the running game wasn't perfect. So it seems like you know what what they teach him he's absorbing it. And you know you can learn from it and you know what's with the way he plays in the passing game you know I did you know live with the mistakes that -- in -- anywhere this year so. There's no offense taken him up because he's horrible against the run and especially since. He seems to be a very smart individual. And seems to be somebody that can learn you know on the fly so. Learn on the fly -- and live with the mistakes.
A couple things I like about him pollen in terms of his. You know you you bring -- of the point of learning. Selling had a a column about on this weekend and Tim Graham did a piece about a -- on the ball -- talked whose dad gill who played in the NFL and -- had 42 career receptions and stuff. But they also I guess he's got a pretty good relationship with a -- is Williams who had a fantastic career as a defense to back in the National Football League and you talked about learning. Thurmond was on and it was last week show. Talk about how -- spurt approached him picking his brains in trying to do some you know learn some different things from whoever it seems like he's the kind of kid. And he's learned a lot from Aeneas Williams obviously and his dad seems -- he's the kind of kid -- just -- in the NFL. How did you do it and it isn't just talk to another cornerback. It's talked to a receiver or a running back in the you know learn from whoever you can learn from and just soaked in all this knowledge of from all these guys who played in the NFL.
Absolutely and you know it. Our guys who are smart I think excel on the game of football I mean they they can figure things out quickly they they know -- to being. And and he just seems to be as smart and with ability I mean you know. And it's so that's kind of rare commodity when you get both. You know there are real smart guy who has a lot of good ability. Can really go -- written you know some players have won some players that the other. Com but to get the combination I think. It's really good birds seems to have --

No not violate because the players that. You would need to put in there aren't on the scene. Bombs so I mean you you could change the culture if you want to if you wanted to jump start on that. If you have a guy in mind that they're available and and coaching somewhere else -- that popular thing you can do is to jumpstart on map but. Yeah I mean there's. Dick Jauron decided he's got offensive football coach. And it's failed miserably I mean he doesn't know what he's doing when it comes to offensive football he thought he did. Everything you try it complete disaster. Of the -- of lying. You know all. You know we we -- just plugin people and we wanted to bring anybody -- thing you know and training camp well but didn't work. I mean he just it it. Maybe you can just fire for -- won't forget about anything else you wanna talk about. I mean just the fact that he he thought he -- offense than -- an up close. I mean none. They pushed it from what you can tell Paul. Did you about the offensive line when it comes the final say. On on decisions like trading Jason Peters cutting Derrick Dockery. Cutting Langston Walker. -- is -- that guy mean is there any way that that stuffed it would have been done like hey you know we know this is gonna -- all the offensive linemen are gonna hold you accountable or about -- would not gonna fire you know -- because were -- at the line because he had actually fought better do you think he signed off and all that.
