Grandson of the founders of the motor company which is a bit of real exciting thing for -- -- and the son of Willie -- So yes it is great to have you here welcome aboard bill. Well thank you it's great to be on board -- great to meet cute guy didn't. Looking forward to the. We are to only have a whole bunch of questions Korea and Bulldog is kind of our professional here's a -- Meehan thanks on the game ever from way back but. Bill being part of the Stanley and growing up with -- I mean. Let let's put it this start a -- what are you doing for early today what your position and and when did dad -- gets involved with colleagues. Well it it's really been my life. And I love it it did. Been an incredible ride if you will. I started personally writing when I was six years old and been right all my life. And even prior to writing by myself I remember one of about three years old ride with my dad and he's deride your Rome looked I think ships like are used to ride in the -- was -- So memories -- way way back and I've been put in an official capacity with the company for about 26 years. And my current role what you just took on June 1 is I am overseen the museum here in Milwaukee Harley-Davidson museum. And very proud to be involved with that there's an incredible moment of magic here and a lot of things for people -- Related -- tremendous industry. And does it sounds it sounds great. One to the museum gets started and may doing get into a little bit about the heritage of Harley-Davidson because I'm sure that's why the museum was brought about. Absolutely. Would that the meeting or open the about two years a goal shall we just celebrated our two year anniversary. And you know the museum as they've said is filled with a lot of managers can what I mean by that is. We really have 407 years of an incredible history. -- that history is it is not only the hardware in the memorabilia political soul. The lifetime experiences. The pop culture aspects. Kind of industrial. Revolution it aspects -- old building products from that number of years. And just see it all come together in one location in Milwaukee is home. The fantastic thing it's it's. It's a must see for everybody I have to say. Absolutely bet families. Yeah how family friendly is -- -- I'm and I asked for for personal reasons bill I've got an -- girl in the six year old boy who are the other. They see their dad right and so they're pretty fired up about it. And I'm trying to sell my wife -- summer vacation to Milwaukee here to tell tell us about a little bit more about what the museum has offered him. Well we we'd certainly our family friendly and more were very proud of that it's. We refer to it as a wanna look kind destination and then as something for every one. My daughter was eleven logs common down here and though we've designed to really need. Experience for kids and it's a scavenger hunt. One may come to the museum they sign up for the scavenger hunt gold from the entire museum. Picking up certain -- and facts and figures and that then does the tour. We give my little pride in the -- I absolutely love that. Monday we have what we call family day and come. We bring in a in eagle. Alive eagle named glory who's on display in that kids -- -- at least just love that as well we have handler here that deuce. A lot of information a lot of glory and she's become -- More of a trademark on Mondays here at the media. Something quite specific about the museum and I'm interested in and maybe our audience would be entrusted to I've seen in various. -- publications. Archival photos. That include the the one of every motorcycle that's rolled off the line -- voters. Is that on display -- that still somewhere in storage in bits and pieces that are out in the museum as we speak. Well let me give you a little bit of background as to that collection because it even has an interest -- story. The follow orders they're there were four -- my great grandfather was William he and then his two Brothers Walt turn Arthur. And then there are great childhood friend Bill Harley -- for folders. And it. In the -- very early days. They were very very much involved with a company day in and -- -- working overtime if you will and in creating. This iconic brand in these great products. Hand in the early teens they were passed to exhibit products that the world's fair. And they agreed to do it and so they gather up a collection of more cycles that started with the nineteen -- three. All the way through to one they are asked to participate. So it was roughly thirteen fourteen years of motorcycles. They put that grouping together one of the world's fair and then after the world's fair that original. We should hiding under the collection and then not only hang -- that but add twit as we move forward. And our security. And that was the very beginning of the election and how that all came to be in it it's really. Quite a mean mean because there's many many companies altered to be that. Can now track they're very early -- -- means just because. Depending on the -- problem. So we can now. Motorcycles. Going to that first year nineteen poultry we have one of 31903. Models that were made between may Kindle screen make people for. And that is on display here. He and Nichols all the way through the current and we pull like from -- every model year. And obviously we'd make more than one model every year that we really have to prioritize. Which model. Is there any significant if you will for the museum. In other words if we have product changes feature changes something bad. Is he miles stole him. Change for the product cleanup will usually pull that in put it into the museum collection. And we currently have over forever and if the different motorcycles that we kind of pulled from the put on display in the museums -- we're. Change in exhibits over constantly. That sounds awesome I'll tell you what though would be in the hand three Davidson's out there and only one entirely. Had a -- month but the name Harley-Davidson's in the -- Davidson entirely here. That's very well it just didn't sound right. I guess it's in the -- Harley-Davidson does have agreed -- -- like that EYI yeah after the Princeton -- the first part of anything that's -- and it works better quality inherently and will see their egos together. Are are there are at least still around. But there are but not associated with the company. The had been involved but Gomes did direct descendants. Left in the late seventies early eighties. But the family is still round and we see them -- wants alone it's it's great. Well it's it's amazing that you don't not only do you have a great American brand is turned into an icon. In and of itself but now you have the museum. Kind of the history your family. We couldn't be more proud mom. You know why I'm very fortunate to. Travel around the world of meeting ingredient our customers meeting ingredient there are dealers from world the world wouldn't. To be represented in war of the worlds greatest iconic Graham's it is is that real. Privilege and honor and I'm very very proud to be involved it's. A great. Life experience. For many many people around the world than. The most rewarding thing -- -- people. -- I think you all power you know I can't believe bump -- part of this is it's just very very rewarding. Willie and I just got back from Sturgis. Brought up there with my sister and my mom abandoned. We -- with 600 -- some friends if you will and dome. We we've heard a lot of that -- there. We introduced this the end of July in Las Vegas that are worldwide dealer shall. And there's some really exciting new product. We've got a new sport extra model called the super lol. And despite was designed to further. The purpose of inspiring. Confidence. And a new writer or somebody that shorter stature. It's a phenomenal motorcycle I'd love right now. Bill on smile and I'm five feet four and a half and half is very important to rite -- eight euros about his biggest U. He's previously -- but if you. Laid over the super -- I think -- absolutely love them motorcycles it is so much fun to ride. Sold. Motorcycles which is also includes. Wrote collider which is a beautiful new Blake a localized ultra. We introduced the -- are all covered apt. Which is really need performance forecaster. The need opportunity. A little or maybe six months personal goal to be with Scottie parker. Obviously Andy eagle at a press conference where we introduce in the store model to the process and to follow Scotty on a twist the believed road watching them back closing in little quarters was unbelievable. And yeah he's doing a great job and course we all know he's over there at 1149 eerie avenue in north kind of want in new York and you can get on there were gonna have to wind is down right. Customers are able to get to the details were looking for the information they're looking for. An -- It'll excite their passion would showing them the new thing. And -- there's so many things once you get to Harley-Davidson dealership to experience as well we have a new look. It's called the -- shop which is a really cool area within the dealership where you could try. Different seats different handlebars. Different suspensions. Have to have hit the -- -- you're. A what you're comfortable -- and it's a really need area Pacheco. Yeah that's that that it's gotta be invaluable as I know elect me I didn't know a lot when I got into writing and there was no -- shop and I just. Happened they get the bike that I could stretch out the most -- which turned out to be soft tail standard with some extended forward controls on like I'm I'm all good. But I've got none other -- how to -- a -- back from Wanda for a buddy of -- one time and like I I looked like -- look like -- circus -- With the -- controls -- it Obama got 65 do it yet so we have been doubled inner TP -- people integrated and comfortable before they before they make a decision is Susan and thing. We are constantly tweaking our products. And some of those tweaks are visible and capable -- not to men often times the ones that are not visible. But you're improving the lifestyle I mean I'm sitting here in talk and you -- -- you know Harley-Davidson using just something you buy it's something -- you buy into with the whole lifestyle I mean that Bill Harley owners groups the rides the the camaraderie the products is just unbelievable and armed you know -- I'm -- -- writer I've only been writing for five or six years but. You know do what I went at first talk club meeting I had 350 new friends immediately everybody was all on the same page no matter what walk -- they came from and it's really amazing. How Harley has transformed. In that matter it's it's a hobby it's a sport it's a lifestyle. Absolutely and that lifestyle is it is so much fun. To meet people from all walks away from around the world. -- to places. You've never been before writing of these places. You know being here at the museum every day I get to meet and greet. Literally hundreds of customers and it is very rewarding do people from. Overseas that have. Told me this is their dream come true to be at the museum of Milwaukee. As the the history of this phenomenal poll phenomenal. Iconic brand and it's it's very rewarding. That's got to be great feeling plus you get paid for. Absolutely and -- Five more thoroughly that aren't gonna athletic -- did that well we you've got three people who who love it like Steve I've only been writing for six years now fly boys like he's like eighty years old media writer for sixty minutes left.
