And you've mentioned it more than once the dramatic story of of how it all unfolded and I'm I'm looking forward to and I hope audiences to hearing from Jeff in person. In whatever detail he's card comparable providing. What happened and what life has been like since April of 2000 because I would imagine Jeff it's a pretty pretty dramatic change in your lifestyle. When something like that happens new insulin at Nestle and it's and what are atlas two years. And I think it's it's very timely to bring Jeff in -- with all the -- accidents and things that are happening at their motorcycles and also. Some maybe corrective criticism but basically criticism and now I'm Alex following back and more of the motorcyclists at the lakers. That it is the that the individual is driving the vehicle where the cages we column out their. I've known Jeff for quite a few years we've been that. But he's in a couple different -- groups and knows more than -- real well and I'll let and I -- I do appreciate you comin' in. And we really wanna touch base because. Won't get into all of that but. Thank Jeff said he was in serious action -- late but he's also back writing Jeff to the if you don't mind is commercial background what happened. On. -- -- -- You know you know first and foremost -- talked about it -- You know you get -- temper repeats yes the awful mixture of disorder and you talked about what the issues that that occurred and you can get past it. You know auditing question people some 2000 the -- is -- for writers first -- the of the season. After hop on the scooter and you know just figured on the street for a little bit. And go and on the boulevard. Comin' back from west Seneca about recurrence Austin. -- by urban street in front saint Christopher's. Church there and they're plausible burden Amherst. Alone pulled out. Towards left in the -- overt and and make quick decisions skepticism with that memento. And in that brief instant of a second you know by drug or the far right of the vehicle on shall -- term illegal -- rational immigrant -- -- -- Well -- time she saw me she stock -- opened to traffic. I had no -- ago I don't remember the accident -- just the after effects and you know these exit investigation people who read traced it back and you're gonna hit the driver's side door went all the -- back towards the rear bumper -- ninety Cadillac. And the bumper caught -- -- late -- -- a little mining. Literally pretty much sliced in half there was this thing and -- -- and sorting -- when somebody -- pain ill and and line their of the role of the profusely you know on what what seemed like. Forever you know traffic -- right on by the scene of the accident. And US marine stopped named Jeremy -- -- and I've become good friends classical players. And each had a targets -- you know had he not on that I don't know if the surgeon would have been able to you know. Horry and beauty and bearded artery and Peter you know what you and I've talked about this a situation. In the past net. The amazing story is folks and I want to listen to this out here. This is how people's mentality our analysts are im gonna say people are stuck on stupid. Right. This woman hits this guy gets out of her car and grows older his delayed. Is brain right next to -- and what did he say what'd she say you. Office was going and knows your first concern congress for you golf fast was I go on and look in my catalyst you know the damage you know not -- -- what to do on the cannot mean those are trade her pride and -- I mean. Thank god bless -- I mean I've effort governor and and all that to select and move on with my life. In hope that it's always a lot about mentality intelligent people author of the road's you know they're just so focused on them on their softened here and mine on the road and could have been done. Yet in fact if wasn't for them marine you might have been dead -- so you would even be here today doing the shows in this. If the my voice or myself sounds a little more excited about it EM. People you have to be careful out there -- no it's a different world it's a tech world it's -- -- -- here's a woman I don't know what when AJ guess she was in her forties mid forties but. The bottom line was her car was her priority but she she's the -- -- made a wrong turn and turn left again right in front of begin to left begin in front of bikers or anybody. These people are gonna stop and think before they make these decisions okay. So that's just amazing way what they'll say about I'm -- X rated. I don't think there's some army -- only pointed this time but did you think she'd kept going maybe you know -- you're evasive maneuver might my my animated okay. The United States point one able -- you know. I think -- would have -- in order rash yeah maybe a broken arm broken -- you know but you'd ever know now you know I mean. Yeah -- the people out of that they just get a look off of the dozen circles now put little -- is devoted to his room because it through the reason mrs. Obviously Thomas and it's -- -- compelling story already just a couple of minutes into it. But it it's important to know I mean you were at the time of the accident and experienced riders -- you were fitting the profile of some guy who just got Ronald Blake said he wasn't ready to handle. Say or was trying to do we we on the 290 on -- sport bikers open and you just you're just out for -- on our fault boulevard. You know being all the rules of the road looking out for yourself and still. You know the worst case scenario still presents itself correct and that you don't we hear about that and Steve you know on the new year about the all the time in case that your your phone takes an. Solely mean if we -- once we say a thousand times the left turn in front of a motorcyclist is the most common accident and you know when I tell people I ride and talked people are writing an AC watcher concerned about it. I tell him that I'm most concerned with the driver to the vehicles not paying attention and turning left in. That's the word that we is a motorcycle going community need to get out to the general public is you have to pay attention. Especially if you're gonna be turning left you gotta look twice for motorcyclist because that is the most common. Accident that we see -- and I went and that is seen across United States. Borne out by the statistics. LT what. Jeff how long how long have you been right. Governor -- and -- pictures of those players know. Yes you you've been out there are about twenty years writing in this action happy you're around eighteen year mark whatever. So and you probably road mini bikes and all the fun stuff prior dollar accurate so what I'm saying is. It's not like this gentleman -- did not have the experience is bulldogs set of being on the road and he was just offer any mean wonderful April wait for the big spring we finally probably in an -- dog nice to you said blue skies. On united. People just gotta pay attention to what's going on out there because you it was certainly. Bulldogs -- stated you know you worn out their discourse around you yourself for a leisurely nice our -- gave. Right any of us 04 dollars and the time as if we're maybe even more than that he in -- season you know. And a spot in early in the year home. I'm right in March so we don't mean it's it's if it's warming up it's never too early. As it turns out that there's a lot more to get into. Jeff -- -- here lost his leg in a terrible accident April 2008 but his wife was already mentioned he's back riding. And wanna hear about your experiences with insurance and coverage and and and all of that because the malevolent at that presents and of course Steve -- I'm here to help us out with his expertise in that area as well but we got to take a time out will be back for more humble blog with five point Steve tanner. More coming up a -- stands up right after this. Back for more on this week's edition of -- ends up bomb -- fly boy Steve -- from the -- -- law firm your personal injury motorcycle attorneys and we're talking with Jeff -- -- A good -- friend of fly boys. Who sadly lost his leg in a motorcycle accident a couple of years ago. Very dramatic story I think before we get into it. You experienced Jeff with with the insurance and and where you've where you've where you're at now back right and again. I think we should talk more about the marine who intervened in that situation are on the ball park is during the last segment of the show you were saying I mean that this guy. I mean six saved your saved your life relief -- is what he ended up doing. And and net at I'd I'd love to know as much as you can tell us about. How the relationship over the course of two plus years now developed with the gentleman who helped you out of march. You know and and I general options and myself we've whoever become different Minnesota before Austin again we've become the sons Brothers in arms. -- situation. He saved my life and I don't know how to how do you repay somebody you know. Save your life you know and I told him and I continue to do so you know it measurement success with them. And we go all we do stuff the other you know on. Not as often -- -- as of late but you know what -- what disease you know busy he stuck to the scene of the accident when he stopped. It was like an Angel from god I mean he told me several times to offensive -- himself. You're so calm you know use Europe. Mobilizing every every change in there and your body that your failures a year or maintain and awareness film and a you know. He had his own issues going through he came up to mean. At the accidents in -- says -- I'm trained combat -- trained you know you're gonna be okay anyone's right to work you know. -- it's. His belt off his waist and it's very it was that there -- seven -- ago longer stick a -- people all over. It was it will you know crunched down and get some tightness in the tourniquet the ultimate. You know it. And I had a vote -- Bolton minority can head off when he finished they can often found that was what Gaza. The good sense on the tourniquet and stop the blood flow. That's at a trade that's amazing and I tell you what being in a veteran myself. Retired near force -- twenty years. That's what. Great training does for you and the discipline of their training okay. And he always gotta love the core guide the Marines simply by boys because you're the best. And here's John and it ran up and and right away said don't worry about things we're gonna make things happen. You Maine that I got that out of a civilian person unless it was some type of a medically trained individual coming along you know I mean someone else might just -- are looking. Which wouldn't help you in your own mentality can keep it right up and said hey. We're gonna make this work well you know. I mean who wouldn't like to think they'd have that and I mean I EUU roll up -- that -- -- -- -- holy -- about and we don't know what what he has seen in direct right okay now so mean this to him. Might announcement but evidently you might cut finger you know Obama seriously but she knew it you know it's it's a lot to him was like I can handle this will get this done you know and it. That's the great thing about our military and now a lot of people I think out in the community it has not served or doesn't understand it or believes what day. Our wonderful media -- press today puts out there about it is not true these are great individuals great Americans and the best part about it though there are trained to do. Tell us a little bit about what happened after the accident the recovery process how long did -- -- Yet he obviously had to learn how to how to walk -- without -- your leg and bring us up to speed a little bit on it. You know I of these CMC for about thirty days when an Indy -- that -- a month. You know and as some bad infection and residual -- is on the stump and -- some. Good medication to fight the infection after got -- hospital. -- on come on crutches you know walking on the stairs one day and I fall through the wall off of Austin crutches and -- on. On my -- back him you know just humanoid pulp and might make cuts -- user and go look at -- fares on all along with -- might be heard and -- And I thought I might have permit stop don't think -- did you know photo blue hole for the law you know it was kind of funny. And non secured the same time you know but want to -- prosthetics them. On the of course or for physical therapy and physical rehab and did that for about three months. And when when I first got fitted for the eleventh and standing at an -- you know. -- jesus' is -- completely new you know. And and at the time -- a -- challenging sold difficult. Mentally -- -- it and know at that time if a is going to be able to do that. You know had a -- quotes quite some -- to have to work your way through wasn't him mentally it was it was draining physically it was it was quite a challenge and I needed to focus. On my walking ability. You know we take. Having to go limbs -- him forgo limbs. For granite -- -- person just walked on the street gauge themselves in conversation. You know hey how's your wife host -- what about the job you know Bono -- learn how to walk again. 100% of my focus on -- 10% of my focus. Head of beyond my actual walking ability. I really couldn't necessarily in -- somebody else. -- conversation. Flow is trying to learn how to walk with a prosthetic limb just because. They're really record that much attention much focus. You know. And at a -- about eight months of of convalescence. And learn how to walk in and gradually progressing. No matter crawl or walk you know learn how to pick myself up after a fall down you know stop that we take for granted you know everyday. And from what have been told ahead you know short convalescence beard went back to work after after months. You know so very regretful. And you also -- that time before the accident was going into a transition. You're gonna leave one job and start another correct. Correct giving I was public employed by US -- and more protection for seven years. And I was -- supposed to start a new job. With. ATF. One week later as an investigator -- you fire arms -- was industries. And the accident obviously. Resulting in -- -- and that job the following week. Problem however -- months later was contacted by him my agency and they often in the position. As long as -- improved to them and people doing the job. You know I do that more -- that's. And -- also like when you you know ten academy course for ETF and that and through that time they did offer you an option between conversation you and I have had prior to this. What was that an end and in you decided not take an offer but the stand your -- for your own and I think that's quite admiral. Quality you know I mean there's does that does a lot of rights we have there's a lot of laws and federal laws employers have to follow both agencies and private sector. Long lines of Americans with disabilities act and you know I could've. On utilized you know one of those rights and not necessary it has appeared in. For the physical laws engagement at the academy. I requested to be considered just like anybody else who's there for the academy to alert you go learn how to engagement in this engagement -- On them what you gotta do the books and Kabul times are filled on the classmates you know attracted me up or no you're right. The myself up no problem you know and had a lot to prove to myself more so probably than all the people who were there to prove. So. Now with where we're. This this time always goes by so fast on this show and and this week I think is maybe the most dramatic example of that is I particular -- -- argue for for hours Jeff. You back to writing your right now a trite now. Your thoughts about. Any reluctance any hesitancy get back on. A motorcycle albeit one with three wheels and just your your your perspective I'm writing today and and and bikers and their relationship with the people in cars and and safety in an all that because we're gonna run on time and I think it's really important for RD -- Your your perspective on oh says first to get back on in you know my wife's of oil there was a soft tail. And -- ball -- get on mobile riding alone you know so. With refer little you know push him a little bit you know I got back on albeit Detroit which you set a three -- And I've been writing for the lists eighteen months on three wheels. And in late living human in the -- and the head of you know maybe hopping in the -- exploit. And trying to give that ago in the super into the to -- -- haven't quite got there yet you know but now. Thoughts in the back -- so maybe someday and now -- ruled that out. What would be there what what salute to the biggest challenge to that with with the late with the percentage. The biggest challenge to be reading it who wheeled motorcycle is just in the years. -- lost my left click a -- milling above my knees so I don't have that joint manipulate. I'm having said that. Just let me through there and got a shift -- you know it's it's a new medica. Electronic shift kit that shifting gears similar to what the white preachers have the -- -- You know and they could use the same thing to globally too so. And they have the and ought to still and it wasn't there in the -- hand shift. Gear. He can steal you know instead of having chipped in with you if you put you can shipped with your hand. But that pretty much one -- apple it's but the new medics after dramatic by the center where the transmissions located. But then on the handlebars there's an electronic funds for -- shifting and -- -- shifting. And technically you don't really have to utilize are engaged clutch -- -- power shift if you want the news. Mujica eligible excellent Warren -- so I don't wanna. Doing the mess with that you know it's. You know it. I write a lot you know I've been sought the -- Sturgis is several times the last time with Detroit. And axial lot of mistakes out there on the -- that the drivers me you know both morsel reckless. And cages cars trucks. On a more so the car and trucks in the classic left hand turns. All the time at all more or collections the past. Three forum wants in Austin since April you know while both of them left and concerns. -- -- I don't know the solution is that the cut down on. On the accidents. Attack -- friend of mine done. You know he writes -- news Tommy you know as serious you know oh wait until July you forget Beckham deedrick it's like yeah. Get all the accidents on the way so the motorists you know our time -- and that -- -- -- -- out there and a you know hopefully -- little more safer. I -- thank you very much on behalf -- the show for -- in and -- on this story in talking with us it's an inspiration to me is as a relative novice motorcyclist. That your back up and Dryden. And and your wife is still right and and and she pushed you to be it sounds like to get back up on.
