Idaho based on Twitter it took sullied by surprise and I'm sure it took a lot of others by surprise where. Where were you engaging as far as. Yesterday's performance them if this. Game didn't take you by surprise you are. A delusional homer there's no way anybody in their right mind could have expected this to happen you could have thought the bills are gonna win. That's fine and but two win by this margin it's just. You could not have. Predicted that with. With all your faculties intact I think it was incredible surprise and I was just -- the -- before we came on here. Second largest. Margin of victory. By a team coming off the season with double digit losses in NFL history. So that was a pretty big -- opening weekend on opening day yet to comment on opening day after losing double digit games -- -- the second. Largest margin of victory in NFL history. Mets. It's a mouthful but that's pretty that's pretty cool that the think that the bills. Had that an upper end of effort I mean you know what you looked at them last year there are always that team that just kind. Mobile with the with the kind of with a good teams but they were still bad enough to thank OK will McCain really win these games. They beat a team that beat them thirteen -- -- last year but they pretty much pushed the limit of five quarters not just for five. And He trounced them by 34 points I mean last year. They had bad bounces not go to the bad bounces and bounces not go their way at all and first play of the game on the kick off. Fumble were recovered by the bills I mean just a great -- I don't know what it's going to mean for the rest of the regular season -- but. All I know is this team is better than diet. Give them credit for -- what I learned. Is that clearly they're not the worst team in the NFL if you can. Totally dominate the team like the bills did yesterday mean you're not the worst team in the NFL they toyed with the chiefs the chiefs were even in the bills' lead yesterday and every facet of the game. Passing offense running offense. Pass defense run the special teams the bills won every category. Coaching you name it whatever was quarterback -- quarterback all the key difference -- all the key positions the bills just thoroughly convincing. Now. Now we have to get into really what does that mean for the future -- I'm not gonna put much stock into that but I will say that you can at least look at the bills. And notice that they are coming around in gaining some command at playing good situational football and that's critical in the NFL. And so let me open it up to you guys the listeners because you know the day after the game -- his buffalo football money it's about you guys -- reacting to to that -- Some time to. Decipher exactly what your feelings on where the game so where are you right now after the jubilation. Of the of the big time victory the 34 point win over the chiefs. How are you looking at this are you saying okay this team has -- jets did this team is is a contender are you saying. Hey it's one week and it was the chiefs who were pretty banged up and and you know they didn't really have a have a great game and it was only the chiefs -- only beat one team with a I think some borrowed 500 record. -- a ballpark 500 record. And or is it just that this -- still -- they just this week it's it's really one of those schools of thought I some I -- G-8 were the middle and I think this team. You know as for as much is. ID kinda given some flack is in the pre season and during training camp which I. Thought was warranted based on their decisions. And the offensive line carousel that was going on. No I didn't really think this team had. What it took to really be competitive this year and -- ultra competitive what they were yesterday but they prove me wrong and I'll give them credit for that. The offensive line as a whole proved me wrong. They gave Ryan Fitzpatrick time and enough time to really make throws down the field where as I thought. You know it was only gonna be diesel five yard maybe ten yards lance that writer Patrick going hadn't dropped three steps -- Although I'm not going to fully commit and say okay this team is contender I'd be foolish to say that. That I don't think they could win next week's game because. You know that Oakland wasn't the best of teams last year so why not think they could potentially pull one. I think -- a bit underrated I -- -- black and it's a you know I think a lot of people out there have a sentiment that the raiders are still the same old raiders from the past years that would be as much of a mistake is it would have been for people saying that the uses the same old bills of the last eleven years the raiders came very close to winning that division last year they were just with any gamer to. With with three or four games left in the season they are very much in the mix there McFadden is a superstar running back they upgraded it quarterback. The problem is is that they're playing on a short week there on a Monday night game. And they have to travel cross continent and the record of teams coming from the Pacific time zone to play in the eastern time zone. Is horrendous and I wish I had that number in front of me buying over the last three or four years it's just been deplorable now a lot of it has to with the fact that the AFC west. The NFC west and in generally. Played horrendous football. But when you throw in the extra time zone in your in your playing at what would be 10 in the morning for them. It just takes a toll on answer to really very difficult for teams to. To handle so I do like the bill's chances in this game but I wanna compartmentalize. What happened yesterday and just leave it unto itself. And not project too much into what this may mean like you say it's to say that they're contender. I know that there's probably segment of the fan base out there that is ready to say okay were at least ready to compete for a wildcard or maybe in the AFC east. But you know let's just. Take yesterday's game from what was against that opponent and you laid out a budget things and -- about why. The bills could justify winning that game heading and you know you talk about the injuries for Kansas City -- -- pre season. Their record against teams with a winning record last year all that type of stuff. But you know what if the bills were to who have beaten the chiefs but let's say all of those things are in play and were. An impact of yesterday's game which they did. But to say I can't use as an excuse for the chiefs. Because if the bills were to beat them by it field goal then you'd say okay well that's -- the bills are supposed to do against a team. That has that many shortcomings that many things working against it right but they didn't win by just a few -- they dominated Indy aero -- stadium. And crushed them and I think that they deserve. A lot of credit for having that. Ability to do whatever cliche wanna use foot on the throat killer instinct all that type of stuff they showed a lot of traits the previous bills teams have not. Yeah there's a point in time in that game more I thought Kansas City. Couldn't really get back into him in the fourth turnover I think it was twenty to seven and Kansas City and the ball and and look like they're gonna do some things and then you know buffalo forces. I can't -- receiver turn over there was if it was fourth down but. Nobody forced them off the field. And that is key you know getting stops when He beat them -- third doubts we can't -- what three of thirteen. That's incredible for bills team or bills defense that couldn't get off the field last year so. There are a lot of positives to take away from this game don't get me wrong. The the overall dominance taking the fired up crowd at -- out of the game. Eaton media not just hit with in the first quarter immediately they made the chiefs fumble on the kickoff strip Dexter McCluster recovered it. And pounced with a touchdown right away. Most years that's a few local time. If that right and today. I mean it's that killer mentality that's been missing here for awhile. Now marketed jump over legends say okay this team is gonna be a playoff contender that's not -- -- But. To say that that this team has made some -- from last year I think it is incredibly accurate. Yeah depth is still a serious concern and we'll get into that one or two injuries in the bills are incredibly healthy you guys talked about it on the pregame show yesterday. About how. Unbelievably healthy these guys were your only missing -- season into -- troop guys who aren't even listed as starters on the depth chart so not huge. But if the bills were to lose -- if they were to lose that Terrence McGee for an extended period of time. It doesn't look like it's going to be that way with this particular injury but let's say that they lose -- for 45 weeks at some point in the season. Any any significant injury and I think you know the depth there's a there's a huge drop often in what they have a starter what they haven't its second third string and but there's a lot to a lot of great stuff to talk about. 8030551888552. They're not in and do anything to running back situation and had any point I mean they're going to work with Fred Jackson. They're going to work on working on CJ Spiller and that's going to be about. There's their there's two lines of thinking you can get Spiller some carries get him some touches. But it's garbage time and I think the coach's first responsibility at that point of the game is to keep his guys healthy and at CJ Spiller gets an injury late in the game and a meaningless time. That I think he's kicking himself. And make the bills are you know disgusted that they did that. And then the other thing too is he's not out there with all the other first stringers so you maybe have a back -- linemen out there or you know you have Tyler Thigpen obviously and different guys I think that they wanna keep. They they generally to keep their starters altogether and make sure that nobody gets hurt. Yeah I understand that point to him but I guess they didn't really utilize him with the starters at all to really think He is a starting players cell. Why not give him more touches one -- in instead of five carries for sixteen yards one not. Give him ten carries because obviously keen to work on that touchdown notwithstanding that came when. The chiefs players were party down now down on their own -- and and He just bounce it outside with no one out there and was able to find the corner of the end -- Every other run beside that one. Was a joke He had four carries for seven yards and on a couple of occasions He had a slight -- get through. A number. At one point -- tree pulled over to the right side in. And try to post of the block form He could have Belfour for at least a yard. Try to bounce it outside lost two yards I mean that's that's the type of things He needs to get out of the system and can't do without repetition that's why I'm taken. Get on that plane -- up at the facility this morning knowing that He had a positive performance yesterday. And maybe it goes the other way I think that they hadn't had a tidy little performance. And so He saved seven point for the bills there that could have been a momentum swing for the chiefs I love the game pitcher -- yesterday. I thought He was great he's transitioning into a 34. Safety and He had to learn it may be you know with the injuries obviously always been an issue with him in that that hurts when it comes to getting wraps. In a lot of people like to think okay 3443. You still have the same for. Defensive backs back there and there shouldn't be too much of a difference there because -- your corners lining up where they line up in your two safeties. But at Tampa two defense that Dick Jauron ran. Gerris Byrd essentially was pulling it deep center field and that's why was able get a lot interceptions. I think we're probably going to see -- burden not get very many interceptions I mean to me get a handful year he's not gonna have anything like He did his rookie year it is just my prediction. But he's gonna be a lot better player and I think he's gonna develop and get better. Without actually getting netstat you know you're not to be able look on the back -- was football card and -- nine interceptions every year but he's going to be good player. You know I think the first thing you said was -- -- tight -- was a revelation yesterday and it it it's true I mean. Scott Chandler coming into the game was probably favored -- about 8014 catches this year for maybe a touchdown. Based on track record of previous bills tight -- I don't think that anybody really had any idea what Scott Chandler could do. And I spoke to Chan Gailey a number of times during the off season at the owners' meetings and at the Columbine. In Chandler's name would come up and I can tell the Chan Gailey really thought a lot about Chandler's that He He felt that He could be a two way tight end in the NFL after they picked him up off waivers last year. But we didn't see any of that the season I don't know if that's everybody liked to say while they were keeping them under wraps I'm not sure that that's the case. Mean you have to remember that this is a guy who was still learning his. Learning the offense when the NFL when in the lockout mode and you come back in. Maybe the bills -- they have maybe this was purely situational football -- and we don't see Scott Chandler do much on a weekly basis at all that He had Eric -- out of the game the chiefs left the middle of the field wide open and a number at times it was like easy pickings for Scott Chandler or whoever the -- and would have been yesterday. Yeah that's the that's. A great point -- you know. Savvy -- -- in that game for Kansas City was just torn apart by the bills whether or Scott Chandler where there was David Nelson it was just a matchup nightmare and that's part of the reason He was jettisoned out of the Tampa based system because He couldn't cover anyone as a safety. So putting him in the game. Wasn't exactly the the best thing they could do but and they had no other choice Eric Berry went down -- their play making safety without Eric Berry. That's a whole different defense in the bills took advantage so for that I say complete congratulations to the bills for taking advantage of what you said the situation all. Parts of the game. I thought that was a huge aspect of putting the foot on the throat of the chiefs. Finding that weakness in the defense taking advantage of an injury so many times you would see a key player for the opposite team go out and in an injury. And the -- not do anything to really take advantage of that they did that yesterday they did a lot of things that they haven't done in the past yesterday. And I give them a lot of credit. This Italian. A special teams guy He does a little bit everything which is why you -- mind your team but yet when you're exactly right -- when He was with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That was his reputation as being the easiest guy on the field the -- If he's out there and you see any kind of stats where the elected to a pro football focus or football outsiders are remembering biscuit -- is always rock bottom in terms of coverage. And the bills and a great job of like you say exploiting that weakness. Yeah eight and you know it take it for what it is you know the -- for banged up things like that but. Note they took advantage of this could tell they ran at Tyson Jackson which if you remember from Friday Josh clinger of 6:10 AM in Kansas City said if you wanna have success on the ground running Tyson Jackson the bills that debt. And they had success Erica. At times that Tyson Jackson was chasing the quarterback along after He handed the ball. He was still lost out there. I noticed that on account there a couple times they had to rewind. First opted the broadcast wasn't too great -- -- replays mr. -- was argued in DVR the game you you're gonna have trouble reviewing it but. Yet Tyson Jackson was lost in the back mr. wasted pick for Nancy -- shame you know people say they they might have reached four on. That probably did reach -- -- -- there overall third overall. In Scott Pioli was touted as a genius after that epic that. Well He was because he's always been a genius because He was seeking from the patriot is in order those deals he's building it up like patriots from the ground Marcel -- law. But in no way shape or form was that a flawless game to ride the Patrick there're a lot of one top receivers a lot of the a lot of the catch is made -- high to with receivers He did you know He could have given them. -- time enough to be able that turned the ball field in and given him some yards after catch bills that magic Johnson's touchdown had been it had to be an acrobatic remarkable catcher that was not going to be caught right so. I mean. And I did but He did put it where it had to be put that that's right I'm going to take away that that. Stat line from Ryan Fitzpatrick in the fact that He. Threw four touchdown passes but if you had. So one just a little bit better I know he's not Trent Edwards Trent Edwards probably would've put up three points against the Kansas City game if you if you work in the in the game. But if someone with just a little bit more accuracy and consistency. In and fire power behind his arm was in that game. This might have even been a worst blow. So. Like -- that not taking away from him one bit here in the four touchdown passes He read the defense just fine. But by no means was that a flawless game for. No I agree with you I mean there's a lot to. Be desired on both sides of the ball on I don't wanna say it was a flawless game for the defense either defense yeah obviously. You only give up seven points -- a lot of things great one of the things that I think is not being maybe -- enough is the pass defense. That the bills played and the chiefs were in past mode early and they had to stay in it the only -- eighteen times all game. I'd look at that did look at the numbers a little bit. The chiefs averaged two point eight yards per pass play. Every time they tried to -- two point eight yards now lot of time GC number that small there's a lot of sacks the bills had only two sacks. So it wasn't like there were some big and one of the sacks I think with just for two yards and that was the one that Brian Scott -- that's right so. There weren't a lot of it wasn't Cassel getting thrown for big losses it was two point eight yards per play. If the -- can do that on a weekly basis they're gonna win a lot of games I don't think necessarily the case but I think a lot of people looked at the run defense because of the story line going in. What the chiefs did to the bills last year the chiefs have the number one rushing offense. Jamaal Charles. Thomas Jones the whole thing. And obviously you want to see what to -- arias would do on the line with Kyle Williams and Ron Edwards. They gave up 108 yards -- sounds good. But they gave up six yards a carry they gave up to twenty plus yard runs so I don't wanna get too excited about the run defense just because they gave up -- 108 yards the reason they gave up just a 108 yards. We're up by a lot of points yesterday September already had who's your three I think. -- through minor pretty obvious and I'd be surprised if we didn't duplicate on at least two of them Scott Chandler number one has to be came out of nowhere five targets five catches. 63 yards and a couple of touchdowns He looks fantastic. Gave the bills an element that they haven't had on the field more often than not. Number two for me was David Nelson you know a lot of people talked about Donald Jones be in the number two receiver I think David Nelson. It's gonna have a lot to say about that He would Fitzpatrick have a lot of chemistry going. It's went to him at a number of key situations. He gets four catches for 66 yards and save -- Stevie Johnson at the touchdown but again as a reminder this is somebody who's gone up from where we expected. Stevie Johnson was already pretty high the for David Nelson almost match -- statistically I think is big for him. And then third was the pass defense. We talked about it last segment two point eight yards per pass play for the -- that's an incredible number. Six point 64 point five passer rating for Matt Cassel at a time when He had to do a lot of throwing. And He really didn't. Did do a 119 yards in the game when your quarterback pass to throw pretty much for sixty minutes. That was impressive for the bills. That we agree on one Scott Sandler. Obviously one of my three -- If you have a tight end catch more than two passes for over ten yards that it's gonna be an up on this -- teams it's true I. I mean He duplicated it doubles the tight end production. As far as touchdowns go last year member who got the only touchdown pass last year as you are built. David Martin and the one where Fitzpatrick just kinda. It up in the air it was like rain that came down right rate in the mark with wide open it. Was maybe. They rejected. Maybe it all right my other two -- got. Off the bench you know they've they had a lot of packages for on eight tackles a sack He. Looks strong.
