To get this they -- to do some upgrades at the stadium. And there's a lot of people had a chirping about the fact that while liar -- is the team why of the state why is this tax money going to. Renovate the stadium. When it. They probably just need a new one. Now some -- and that maybe you do. But the other piece of news I wanna get to first and foremost. Is the reported. Extension it's about to happen for Ryan Fitzpatrick. The bills -- not confirm. The report it right it's Patrick is hot on the verge of signing. A contract extension however that is the report this time. The report contract extension. Is going to be between nine and twelve million dollars a year. Now I went back and I took a look at the starting quarterbacks salaries in the national football. We don't know the length of -- Patrick's report extension He does happen. Border assume that He does sign extensions somewhere in the nine to twelve million dollar a year range. I would guess it would be between three and four years that would be the normal length of an extension of that capacity for a guy like him. He's actually signed 67 year deal or anything like that I would I be shocked if something like that happen. So let's just go on the assumption that right that's Patrick signs a nine to twelve million dollar a year contract for the next 34 years just -- is an extension. As far as other. NFL quarterback salaries are concerned that would put Ryan right around seventh to twelfth. Overall. -- quarterback salaries. The way this game is played. And by game I don't mean on the field -- off the field again populace everybody. Agents players. Teams. Even fans. They compare guys based on salary all the time. It might not be fair but that's the way it is. There's a big difference sometimes between the way things are and we think should be. When one guy. Is making ten million dollars a year and you think your better than that you want more in this is what drives salaries up so that being said. You can't talk about the extension without putting an end to perspective aware he'd be ranked. Any sign that deal seven to twelve overall is our starting quarterbacks in the national football. Now that's unofficial of course there's always bonuses and things like that. But even a guy like Aaron Rodgers believe it or not. Is only making eight million dollars a year this year. I'm sure Aaron Rodgers and assign an extension at some point which puts them in them stratosphere. That -- quarterbacks. But at this point in time this is where Ryan Fitzpatrick would last and would fall should -- My question is is He -- that's obviously the first thing we have the talk about. If He were that money wise is He worth that commitment lies. I sat on this for a few days really trying to get my thoughts together. -- assault it's Patrick extension is He worth that is not worth that commitment wise money wise things like that. And the thing I keep coming back to is. This team. Has had ten starting quarterbacks. Since Jim Kelly retired. Argued their names. Todd Collins elderly and. Well Doug Flutie Rob Johnson Drew Bledsoe Kelly Holcomb JP -- Trent Edwards Brian -- Those are all guys that started for the Buffalo Bills you can also throw -- their guys like BJ Hobart. Shane Matthews Levi Brown Craig Nall guys were here. Who may have played who didn't start. Who people thought should have started okay that's fourteen there's probably a few more along the way I didn't even put in. Jim Kelly's last year was what 9697. So basically the last fourteen years this team has had fourteen different quarterbacks and different starters. At some point. At some point. Don't you want the revolving doors of quarterbacks the -- here in buffalo. At some point don't you have to say you know what this guys at least good enough. For us to be stable at the position. Because. To meet. The biggest issue at quarterback for the Buffalo Bills. Since Jim Kelly. Hasn't been a lack of talent necessarily sure they've had lack of talent at the position. The biggest issue for me has been the instability. At the position. Now before you go. Firing off your phone calls to tell me well Trent Edwards was supposed to be stable and He didn't work out of course I agree with that. But the point is this. If you look at the most successful franchises in the NFL. Yes they have talented QBs but they also have guys. That they made commitments do better at least stable for the rich as they don't have the revolving door. I compare -- to do. You know. I think fans we fall in love with a sexy we fall in love with the possible. We all want Jim cal I mean we don't want another Jim Kelly right everybody wants Jim Kelly again here in buffalo to be slinging the ball. All over the place. What's Rick pitino's famous line Jim Kelly walking through that door folks. Sure we all want the next great talent like -- Andrew Luck like Peyton Manning when He came out. Like it appears some of these guys that are coming out right now last few years have played. We don't want that. But we can't have that. So in the meantime you're doing yourself. A disservice by continually trying to find that when it doesn't work. In here you have a guy. Who isn't Jim Kelly. Who's the sexy. Coming out of college first pick overall guy. Big school big -- It's -- me it's kind of like dating a girl. Like when you're growing up you're in high school you gimmick college. Maybe a little bit after college you're in your mid twenties you've got to play the field there you see you know what it's all about. It's all about sexiness number it's all about how great she looks and taken while I really love being with this girl she's totally awesome she's really good -- I totally out on the coverage I don't deserve this data girl. This is this is this a one man is the what you'll look because you're not look at that you're not looking at. The big picture you're looking at. The shallow part of you're looking at the exterior. You look at what she represents do you more than anything. You know she represented she represents pictures around Christmas time you can take a picture whether He can set it up all your -- your family say wow look at this girl that -- Dayton. Which can never really think about the fact that she's probably. Really really awesome looking on the outside. If she's really sexy. And she makes you look good as she makes you feel good when your weather. But you know what just not a lot of depth there. There's not lot of depth. There's not stability and consistency. What might she complains -- what would your buddies too much in the next night she wants a well Hearst complains that. -- -- Right -- Patrick. The guy that you know and we talked about this in the players actually talked about there's no one of these guys right know what these guys. Private records the one that he's been sit in the corner He was the girl that went to high school. They had that the freckles and the glasses and nobody really paid attention to when when you went to the homecoming dance she sat in the corner nobody really want it and she was there she had the personalities yet the brains. But no -- really thought about that because at that time you're only thinking about. The exterior dish -- -- Which you know sometimes make the best wise. Do you lucky you can get lucky you can go out and get the great girl. The homecoming queen who voted for because she was so darn good look at. You you get lucky and get that girl and she bring to bear the full package maybe she brings with her the brains. She brings with her the good looks. She brings to -- the commitment to you. How many people really find that. People really find that. Especially if they go in look. In try all the different samples. Don't give her girlfriends. It's not about it's about finding Jim Kelly anymore. It was for me it was it was about fighting the next Jim Kelly for me. It's not about that anymore. You have a group the guys that really understand what He does represent. The isn't the net He isn't the sexiest guy to come out of college. He isn't the number one pick. The -- guy has a beard wears a wedding ring when He plays football. But that shouldn't matter. What should matter is that this team has at quarterback. That they can rely on to be consistent. Have some stability. They haven't had in fourteen. Years. Others reasons why. There are reasons why. There have been guys that probably could have been no stability guys like maybe some -- you think Doug Flutie. Orgy Bledsoe orgy peer Trent maybe somebody thought they could then that's the bit stable. But because the organization. Didn't have the wherewithal to keep them around your accusation didn't have. The right people in place to make those good decision to keep those guys that's why they left that's why I get that. Just tired revolving door I'm tired of one night stands. Out over that that was acknowledged. What a girl like you settle with now in a quarterback. For those tuning in like what the -- to the girls the quarterback here in this analogy. A girl like -- settle with that makes me feel good. About what we're doing together all the time. You know what even those girls even those girls get married. Roby who are married up there heavier rough patch is absolutely you do some downturns. Some argument you have some flights. But those fights are the kind that are gonna make you break up like they are. With the previous fourteen girls you date it. Because they just don't get -- and you just don't have that relationship you just don't have that commitment to each other. It's not about nine to twelve million for me it's not about seventh to twelfth ranked salary for me. Because let me tell you something in three years nine to twelve million is going to be fifteenth or sixteenth in the league because you may a look at it now and say wait a minute. You're paying this guy top ten money okay that may be right now when you get two home. By the time the contract is up though there's about 45 guys behind him that sign new deals now he's about fifteen. You gonna tell me that he's not worth average starting money that would that would be. And you get commitment. Here's the other thing about. Contracts and contracts and there's no reason you still can't later. If you figure out two years -- -- you wanna get divorced from that girl you're really thought was gonna work out everything was roses. You have the one. It is still work out you can still go out and find that other one but now's not the time anymore I'm done with it I'm done with finding that I'm done with sampling everything else it's out there. Now that's a key going forward in this league the best team doesn't always -- -- the best team doesn't always get win the division in the division. Many tied to just simply comes down to injuries. In who's playing well that time in that game obviously but injuries are huge component. And this team really has avoided the major injury bug so therefore this why is coming at the right time. For them to get healthy but also I I really like I was glad. Was upset I should say they didn't make any deals of the deadline because I think the philosophy of next man up on this team works. One of the things I've always -- about. Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the way they run their organization their organizational and team philosophy is Mike Tomlin always talking about next man up next man up whoever. Get whoever gets hurt the next guy has to be able performed at a level of expectation you have to have because you are medical football player.
