It seemed so many times this year one strike from being eliminated whether be at the end of the regular season. During the playoffs during the World Series this team was the epitome of scratching and clawing and fighting to stay alive all year. If there's ever many more I would say deserving type of champion who really had to earn it it was the St. Louis Cardinals it was Matt how -- -- Louis cardinals' Matt. I'm Sherry didn't get much sleep or -- unites. Well I know I stayed up to watch every single moment of it and then I've probably watched the highlights in the replay and every single interview a couple of times that's what I am when the bills win just one game that's away -- I can imagine. What it was like. For you but this say this interest in team because. I am not a -- Louis cardinals and I can't imagine too many people. Who are baseball fans in general. Hate the St. Louis Cardinals are just one of those organizations. That seem to always do it with the right class they have the right kind of guys. -- -- -- -- -- -- a polarized the cardinals are polarizing. And I think is a team that everybody can at least route four in some sense you are one of the Rangers for different reasons. I think is a team that -- you can't be too upset that they want. Well I'm not upset they want but I think nationally people do respect the cardinals' Tony La Russa I mean I've heard you don't. On Twitter there are some people don't like -- Russo the way over manages according to them but. And he's got three World Series ring so I guess maybe he's doing things the right way home I think so now obviously. I'm gonna just get right into what you what do you think about pujols a lot of theories that. Then winning may have actually decreased. Their urgency to re sign him because I have that championship. If you lose the World Series you same and we got to sign him because we're so close we need him but now it's like you did. You did great force thanks a lot but we're knocking over -- Buena. Now I don't know man that's that's really tough because IC which is saying but at the same time you know. Teams get a lot of extra revenue when they win the World Series. You get all those home games yeah it's seven home games they aren't a ton of money. From having him there which may influence how much they can pay him in the future. Plus he's really the face of the franchise a guy that I think it would look bad to win the World Series let him go. Because I think the fan base would be kind of saying -- now you're settling boy you've won so now you're just letting this Fargo because your content. You think though that maybe they should did Tony La Russa certainly should examine how much time he has left as a manager I mean there were a lot of questionable. -- so much as well I believe this or not but the report is. Saint Louis gets in as a wildcard on the last day of the regular season. They get to host game six and seven World Series on some level that's just got to seem not right to a lot of people. There is no more idiotic rule in May be in all of sports than to have the all star game. Determined. What. Who has the home field advantage for the World Series it's just nonsense and you know really. The players and managers are still trying to make it fun and a relaxing kind of vacation we're all going to be -- game. But you gotta wonder after this having an effect on the actual World Series. He here's the thing about the Rangers I I get a lot of the Ali got a feel sorry for them well first I never feel sorry for anybody who loses the championship because I may -- me. Yeah Nolan Ryan has some good pictures and that's that I think they're pretty well balanced but how much can you really play offense like that. For how many years in a row I don't know if they can get back to that point after two years -- losing like this well it's tough for any AL team especially when he got to -- against the Yankees yelled the Red Sox are gonna make some moves to get stronger. At the same time all the -- good young arms I mean Matt Harrison wasn't good last night the truth is pretty good and Derek Holland was great. They have -- had gone -- wasn't good out of the bullpen but he's going to be a starter going down the road. -- -- for fully uses great closer they might even switch him to being a starter. I don't know I think this team Texas is going to be there of the year after -- I think they have enough young hitters too they got Adrian Beltre for a long time Elvis Andrus young. With everything he's gone through in life obviously with his injury his groin kind of heard on. In this World Series he really just wasn't himself. He did hit that big home run in game number six. Which by the way I I have to say looking back 48 hours later now almost. It may have it probably was the greatest the greatest World Series game. Overall game I've probably ever seen the probably was agreed that it deadly that the greatest World Series last few innings I've ever seen. I don't know where it ranks up there is RC series overall with seven games though I think there may have been better seven game series is ours this one. There was no better game in game six but as far as a seven game series on the back -- 87 was a great seven game series. Saint Louis again against Minnesota every team to remember that one won their home game and that 191. Again Minnesota. Winning at an extra innings I was again glad and I think it that that single to win it. There have been terrific 97. All the ones and in seven seemed to be pretty good World Series until maybe few years ago. So I know I'd rank this as far as a series overall map I did in game six was the best one I've ever seen at r.s one game. Game six is the most compelling. I don't know if I could say was the best game I mean I keep hearing best I guess not -- -- play for sure it was such an. Ugly game it was a disaster for most of it and affected. Because the first 33 million get paid through the first three seasons. That is eleven million per year for the first three seasons. 24 guaranteed out of that. This is the biggest contract signed. In buffalo -- history. I remember in 1986. When Jim Kelly sign. The biggest contract in buffalo -- history per basically what a million dollars a year I think it was. Crazy stuff. Because now we're at nine point eight million per year on the average. So yes I understand I get it that it's not really a six year deal but. It is a six year deal he signed so you have to take those numbers. And you have to. Average them out. And the average comes out to nine point eight million dollars per year that. Is. But he's a guy that stabilizes the position. He's got -- doing things for you that you never seen you haven't seen the last fourteen years maybe here -- there from Bledsoe or Flutie may be here in the air. I'm one start for try never to be years ago. Completion percentage through the roof other than that what was he doing. So there were guys who did little things maybe in pieces or in snapshots. But the bills put themselves in the position as well. I think it was clear right after the draft. Right after the draft there was a lot of question what they take a quarterback in the first round. If Cam Newton -- they take them in Blaine Gabbert was there where they take them. We all know how that turned out Marcel Darius was the guy the did not draft a quarterback the rest of the draft. In fact sign one. In Tyler Thigpen to be the backup for almost four million a year you think about it really two quarterbacks together. The bills are paying thirteen million a year. -- a lot of money invested in the position itself but for a franchise -- nine point eight average. Not a lot of money. It's the going rate its average. They paid a guy that many think he shouldn't be paid this much. But it they feel he's a franchise guy if they feel he's the -- they -- going forward. I think it was clear since April's draft they did feel this way. He was -- guy all along ever since that draft ended. And they didn't draft -- in the first round or at all for that matter. Jim Gailey and buddy nix knew that this is the guy they want to go forward. And bill this offense around his -- and that's what they've got. His hot start. Raise the price a little bit. His hot start made it a little more urgent. Especially considering you have Stevie Johnson sit there. Who still has not signed. This is not signed pass this year and Fred Jackson who deserves to be signed to a longer deal. But he is still signed by the way through next year that people lose that actually talk about Stevie and Fred coming up in deals. You know. Yes Fred Jackson is maybe the MVP this offense. It's either -- -- Fitzpatrick right but maybe he has. And he is the guy that makes this offense -- I'm not disagreeing with that. But you wanna keep -- Fred Jackson and Stevie Johnson. The fact is in the bottom line is. You gotta get Stevie locked up first because it's just business he's a free agent first. Projection. Has a contract for another year. Yeah appreciable get paid. I have been in contact. With. Sources close to the situation. And I've been told that there have been no recent talks. Between Stevie Johnson of the Buffalo Bills not that this is groundbreaking because we all knew that they go one guy at a time and that's what they've done but I can tell you. Sources close to the situation. Very familiar. With the situation have told me. That the two sides have not had any talks recently however the Johnson camp is very hopeful to have those talks -- So there's your news on the Stevie Johnson extension. I don't know the qualifies as breaking or anything like that because it's not really. Done. Something it's totally unexpected. But I can tell you right now that. Sources close to the situation have informed me that there have been no recent talks between the two sides Stevie Johnson and -- it's Patrick. I'm sorry Stevie Johnson in the Buffalo Bills excuse me. But that the Johnson camp is very hopeful. That talks will happen soon. If you elect Steve Johnson play out his contract. And you give him. The franchise -- I I think that's. Not a Smart move. If you let. Fred Jackson play out a starter for two years given the franchise taxing thing but that's way down the road. We get to the numbers franchise tag wide receiver number going in the this year going in this year. If they elect Steve Johnson played out his deal this year. And then put the franchise tag on him. He would be guaranteed to make eleven point three million dollars. Great deal for Stevie. Is that really a great deal for the bills. The -- that much money up. When you could trying to get him for a long term deal for less money Stevie need to get eight. Which you don't wanna risk. Number five in the pre season rankings I don't think that that's too high I think this team is. -- at least the top ten team in the nation -- they have a very good -- coming back. A lot hinges of course on scoop Jardine at the point tell -- your thoughts on the 201112. Orange as they head into the season. I think the expectations are pretty fares well I mean. You know this this team by all accounts I think we -- all of this appointed deputy couldn't make it currently sweet sixteen last year and you know they certainly have the potential to do it again and if there you know they're a little bit deeper but they're also a lot more experience. In pretty much every facet in every position so. All across the board and I think. Anything short of you know being a one seed in the NCAA tournament is gonna end up being a disappointment and and so it's going to be a really fun year and you know hopefully they're you can kind of break that mold of you know usually will be a really high expectation that we we tend not to meet -- so hopefully we can turn -- this year. Yet seems like one -- behind staples is he under achieves with over talented teams -- you over Jesus under talented teams throughout the years it's kind of an interesting dichotomy. All of a sudden people are talking about BCS bowl Clinton wings win the big. This the -- and send it into it week by a weakened. Hopefully we gotta keep up the momentum because that we can win this one. Or bowl eligible again. And and then you know at that point. That there's no reason I think we can't compete for the big east title. Speaking of the big east obviously it is basically gone over the next couple years Syracuse is absolutely out of the big east going to the ACC with it looks like West Virginia is off to the big twelve. Sean what do you make this whole mass of realignment -- where do you fall on the side of -- Syracuse leaving. The whole -- lawsuits that are seem like they're going to be happening with West Virginia leaving just give me some general thoughts on this entire mass that's going on right now. You know I mean and we streak at all go back a couple of years in and just sit down with the big east and say look these lifting -- up the dude. To make sure that everybody's happy and everybody they put. And you know unfortunately. The conference leadership to. Was always a very reactive leadership and sort of a pro active one and you know there's nobody to blame but themselves Serbs for what happened and so. You know a source eagle I'm bummed out that we're going to be a lot of tradition and a lot of those great rivalries but. I think you're the Smart move the marble financial is a Smart move for future and and look you know it if we hadn't done it.
