It's been so there have been mornings where you're just you do not wanna talk about this hockey team losing -- this thing or that injury that. And then the idea of just being away from hockey for a week. Was very it was refreshing and that that's another reason why I was so happy after the Washington game Monday night and I think. And this is racks -- wanna start the show was a really great game Monday night. It doesn't mean anything if they don't play like that for another week or two at least. But there have been so few nights like that. I came in off that game feeling so good because those -- haven't happened very often sadly with this hockey team. No and I think which you're. And that not consistently enough anyway -- well that the consistency is not following up. That's what real account mystics in your camera and I've Providence would -- and so emotional upset this game and I don't I mean you if you look at this team before the season starts. -- -- A compliment of four full lines. Seven defenseman. And that's pretty damn good hockey club but there and that's of beautifully balanced team. And they're gonna do well in the way they finished up last year and I think probably you know you get your hopes up so high and everything all these in these beautiful things that hopman in the players employees and everything was so good and there's such a change. And everything around that building in the and then the new dressing rooms and everything was on and on and optic. And then it's so disappointing when it you know you're not up there all the time in -- and down a couple of notches. But you kind of find out just how difficult it is to be winners in the NHL there's lot of teams that there. -- -- different cities by the waves that have the same idea in mind. And there can only board we want him personally that wins the of the -- prize which is a sale a couple of it's the follow up hard in this that tree get high -- low yet Heidi low. And after awhile where's the news which you really wanna see after that effort against Washington. Is the way to play a team like New Jersey with a cable. -- Amber are also -- and they have beaten a lot of good teams this year by the way New Jersey -- And don't don't sell them short there's -- different hockey club to watch earlier in the season. But the cable showing up playing hard and really competing. And if they -- -- go down battling I mean everyone's going to lose you can't win every game. It's how you lose those games and how hard now dedicated to work to a least try to win. And that has to be there and if that's there I can malevolent. I'm not comfortable with that but I can live with yeah. If you're one tried their best I mean that your best is your best and that's all you can do you can't fool anybody I mean -- it's. You're watching on TV you couldn't make up stories you can you know -- things I mean but it is what it is you're watching the game either. You know Jiri -- being beat to loose parts are you being worked on these one on one situations. Where you're not driving to the net. Or utility you're not supporting one another with some parts support you -- hitting when you can hit instead of making big -- turns in front of people and not making contact. And by the way a lot of what you just you know a lot of what you just mentioned you can't write off as well other injured. Lot of those -- -- -- has not had a two run and excitement that's right that's what's frustrating about this -- the injuries have been a factor. But the injuries should not be an excuse for. Bad passes. Not finishing checks lack of effort. A slow start at home. It'll all the different things that this team has dealt with and that's one of the many things that's frustrating to -- another thought they'd like to talk about Mike and -- the Bolton. When you have a team that's dealt with a lot injuries when you have a team that's had some inconsistent play some spotty play you really you can you can still get by if you're goaltenders are playing at the top of their game. And I said you before we started the show I thought about this last week in the few minutes I was watching those games. When was the last time. Like the goalies either Miller and -- It's all -- game -- The other team of the night when the sabres at I don't Miller had a night in Montreal. They had no right being in that game in the first period. That was the first visit to Montreal not the one after the -- whatever anyway Montreal. And rob I think have to -- against Columbus it was a -- it's Columbus where the jackets game here they -- but he. Like I could probably name on one hand. Both goal is combined nights where a team stunk. What they just flat out -- on the opposition and -- their teammates out they're not do. While something else we've we use -- notice. You kind of dig down the goaltender just kind of -- the other team in your wacko. And the goal here with this team is not to make the playoffs is to win a Stanley Cup. That's the goal. You don't want your mindset is that you put yourself in a position where you're struggling where we have to make the playoffs this is going to be embarrassed after -- the ideas to make the playoffs. But the big the big numbers to win the Stanley Cup. That's the story at the end of the day. Never be satisfied with make in the playoffs is enough teams I mean. A decent hockey club will make the playoffs you know to be great to make a play -- to set to be decent but the problem is you can't be decent win a Stanley Cup. Yet to be great yet to be superior to be better than the other team and a consistent basis. These guys all have four legs two legs and two arms and they're capable and you're talking about well there some injuries. Well you know what those guys don't worry about the young guys still show up and play hard it's better because our life is at stake right now their whole career this -- -- moment. Moment of a lifetime says her little kids so they ever learn how to skate it was all about playing in the NHL some day. They'll show up and play hard -- two or three years and now you can sit back and say you know ways -- -- as a guard them. But for now don't worry about the young guys you'll get a full effort from them. But the secondary and even the first the first set of players. Those passes have to be on the market that can't be bad passes they have to have controlled the park they have to step up and take control marquee game. They're the players that you sit back and depend upon and your goaltending along with that. Other guys you can point out you know you talk about the other guys and I I can start with -- Miller. Excuse -- Miller's numbers. Goals against a three point 05. A goals against over three. Is unheard yeah the national -- honestly he's and his sabres -- at 904 that's got to be at least 92925. Have to change he's got to dig themselves out of us tomorrow to start right there and I like the way you -- against Washington he seemed. Comfortable he didn't when we talk about Miller he's not. At a position flop around -- highlight reel saves because he's squaring up he's in the right spot is anticipating well. He wasn't given up rebounds he was handling the -- -- just looked really smooth against Washington to start with him like. And then when the injury start hitting and you know yours you're looking around going where the ball's coming from and his team is scoring two goals a game. We're growing Stafford that X -- is part -- of those doing its part where Roy where Stafford is constant chipping in with the odd -- mean there were. You know boys was out past was out -- it was out Kirby was out and it's was out. So it's got to beat guys like Roy Stafford -- that have to be chipping. And Stafford and shipping cost that -- it can expect much. You know but if there's one thing is ski -- American members were just talking about this don't always -- I remember last year but this time before Christmas we've talked about this this. This team looks soul. You're an impossible situation there's no way you can make the playoffs they had to be but the best in the NHL the second half to make it. And they -- and I doubted them. And in the back where mine -- members I'll never doubt. This group -- I didn't feel bad because 99 out of 100 people doubted the malts. And they're probably right to put themselves eligible position on early but I thought I don't know wise these and they did I just cents yeah. I still think I mean take a look at this whole hockey club as a -- I know there better team. I I'm not saying there's Stanley Cup team and I currency are -- there better and I know when they get a full compliment of players. And they find themselves once again and they move forward. As a full team. They will be a better team and they will be difficult to beat. Everything will prove all around at least that's what I think that that's what history tells me and that's what I think about this team but in the meantime. That doesn't mean a setback in your heels looked the other way and ignore everything. I mean you know that the great games are far and few between and they came -- what the other night now here we are sitting and talking about well they follow it up. And I can't say yes to that part because I don't know. There's been too much inconsistency. In you can blame it on the players the veteran players. Or you can blame it on the injuries anything alike are really don't care what I do care about is at the end of the night who won the game. That's what I care. What else can you do I know it's they're they're trying out softer equipment there -- a handful of players that are -- softer shoulder pads are trying to come up with something they can do there. I don't know what she could do Mike I don't want I don't want to game slowed down. I don't wanna go back to -- two line passes in clutch and grab and all that stuff because the game was boring. So what can do to keep the speed of the game to keep the hitting in the game. But to bring down the concussions because there's so -- Kirby included now granted his was a dirty plight. But there are so many guys that are out because a concussion. Well clearly in my mind anyways I think the one -- they're going to taken you so -- it was equipment. They know the biggest distracts in the play the -- hedges so hard -- that your own teammates became the biggest distraction.
