Just tell me first of all how good do you think Andrew Luck is going to be in this league and -- he clearly the number one overall pick in your mind. Well it's clearly the number one pick than me I think it's -- -- the potential to -- mobile you know Austrian cornerback. What we have to consider is only going to be. As good as the people around on the but it it he has a legitimate people around them. I think this guys is the best quarterback prospect absences you know. Come out in 1980. For. Charlie do you expect a lot of trades towards the top of the draft board and at the first round especially considering the new salary structure and how much. Easier would be to actually take on the salaries of those high -- -- You're right on the first round match. That's salary isn't going to be a problem. Warm -- for teams move up and out the -- I think into a couple of crap depends on the quality of the players there now. Griffin is gonna get a lot of interest in the single packet potential. That's a given their whether it's opinions. Like Miami Washington Cleveland with a great shoes to it and obviously -- potential candidates. -- as the Seattle try to move -- You know from their position outside of the top ten so all of those are possibilities that -- happened. The other thing though it capacity players. That people want to do such. I think that it is one thing to watch is the offensive tackle the -- -- Khalili USC. I've written that Minnesota researcher logical pick for them. Opera that you know watching the news that apple. Miami can use attack on Arizona cities -- tackles what you get up a one -- for the number to tackle -- Rico via. I mean that that's opened the watch on the tree. There's even talk here in buffalo change really saying that they're not also at the tackle position that may actually be. More of a a spot where the bills look than people realize at this point. Well that's a possibility sure. So that they can be and that because there might -- particularly get a good tackle. And maybe they want -- to attack or attendance so -- sump and the like about America. -- let's talk about the Buffalo Bill specifically. What. Kind of job do you think the -- -- buddy nix had done so far in their a couple of years at the -- in buffalo and where you see this organization the direction it. They are going with those two -- charge. While I I've always searching -- a terrific at football culture elect -- would require -- -- -- an aging team. Jerry Jones is that it was in the state firearm Georgia Tech he he you want -- Georgia Tech. So I didn't change it was an excellent football coach. Who could end up take the players around them a servant to assist them be successful. I think but he index is is that they're football meant to their personnel guy. I think he'll -- the shop in evaluating talent I think the key here is that it's buffalo needs to spend money to keep -- players when they become good. Is but that's really the question. How would you Charlie's -- former general manager in this league. Given all of -- antics. Getting all Stevie stats you know there's there's two sides to this point how would you handle this situation with him and do you think the bills should bring him back at what kind of rate. -- You know they know better IQ -- the character and person. I don't know you know that that the court they gonna occur and I and I appreciate I appreciate the fact they know more about the idea. If this guy is a bit locker room guy narco Tripoli that -- floats on the scene he won't war. He's not disciplined you know people. But only the bills and it's almost not that they -- because -- -- negotiations that ultimately. They feel it that -- idea. Should be -- of the program now. He's not in the -- receiver he's not -- the franchise. Depending you know it's. Are so you're -- your that the level like this so you really got to try to work their deal and what happens is it. Is it sometimes he could best player but he is not quite worth the money so he's somewhere in the matte look that four million. I range in the eight and nine million partly -- -- agencies that are park the site. But I think if they keep the dialogue open. I I don't think there's market won't go anywhere I don't know why it's free agency I think he's going to be somewhere between those numbers. And that's some numbers -- makes cents. And I'm sure the bills. Would see at the same way. Where the agent is it's hard to say. But I think it's free agency DiMarco sure there's too many receivers in free agency. Armed. -- not to be here. I feel it's out of whack well let's let's say Stevie -- it's talks as well in the state -- it'll be more successful in buffalo well it was such. Well let's just say. Let's just say it Stevie does walk they don't resigning him you got Dwayne -- Vincent Jackson Marcus Colston Wes Welker. DeSean Jackson a lot of receivers you just referenced them. Who -- like got that group who's actually worth going out and spending a little bit more on. To either replace him in buffalo or just to bring him anywhere depending on what general manager you are. Well guys again. -- come sit in the room and and I get straight answer the -- -- 10. Is Jackson San Diego Khatami but he actually know him better than anybody he's the most talented receiver out there. On how -- -- off the field issues which really is the reason San Diego was not expendable long term deal but he seemed to be passed that. Could be your and the suspension or police so. That is the best player out. -- -- that those amber anybody else so. Yeah I'm sure he'll command a lot of money be the most competitive guy out. Out there but -- have a lot of good receivers but not necessarily -- -- -- there's a terrific Japanese slot he's not only. And I would assume they'll franchise and it'll pose a big physical guy but he's you -- he's been number two one colts and is. You know maybe not the same player I was before the miserably before he was and number two. The so. I think I beat temple oh I forgot to receive this works it. You you Charlie actually you made it very controversial what turned out to be the correct move in. He used it when you took Mario Williams before Reggie Bush well Mario is now free agent. The Buffalo Bills are said to at least have some interest in going after a guy like Mario Williams but the bills in general need a pass -- that's obviously their biggest need. Everyone knows it. How would you approach free agency and the draft knowing a guy like Williams is out there knowing may be -- neighbor was out there they don't franchise and in Detroit. And then also on the heels of the draft not a great -- pass rushers but still a couple of guys up there -- In the buffalo bill's shoes how would you approach that is ours where you would try to spend your money and solve that problem. Well -- Mario Williams as his command a lot of money that the guide to global player. He's one of the top. He accidentally. And so you that that these people who'll make. Quote enable excellent play Detroit they've franchise. -- prepared structure and either one there. You're you're really -- should football game Mario audiences is certainly about a -- -- -- -- and -- -- April. So that that's so. What what is the decision to take Williams over bush in the long run for you was it just really the need to have a a terrific pass rusher or is there more to that decision when it came down for you. Well we will go from 34 of the fourth rate similar to the polls or as a contemplating how to produce. So we are short -- president with a double REIT that was not. The number one reason is we saw Mario Williams already was -- that -- -- -- I thought Mario Williams was a sixty play that game got but he could play every snap. Did not see fortunately though the body Billy he was not going to be a money back that was going to be an -- which -- it was a good player. And luckily it -- actively. But I thought it was more situational type player. Who fits certain ones as opposed the ones -- was not full time guy. That he would say you know that we were -- -- nine million -- vehicle for stroke correct. Are back then in 2006. I don't -- now. Can be campaign nine million dollars a year to a guy who's not going to be able one happened player which apple. Do you think CJ Spiller and every down back. I know I don't I think he's kind of like -- accomplish. Specialty back there it's based. I there's there's there's a -- on the -- that but I don't see him as a recount. The bills make the right call I'm giving -- Patrick that deal do you think Charlie and going forward how do you assess -- quarterback situation. I don't know about how he played afterwards relationships how -- it's the rib injury. I think what happened is teams caught up with the -- steam. And that's what they need I think speed at the wide receiver position to help that. Now I think -- Fitzpatrick I don't have the structure funny but as I remember reading in the contract and starting. Are you really has not a contract that they can't get out of there and only year. Audit without a lot of financial implications on capsule the structure was the other. Our I think there at the insult than they had the people. Are because they don't have him who did it play with. And he's a player that you know knows the system is Smart guy perhaps the guy continues to get better so. It was a good -- what they -- the structure is very good. I think the other people evaluate quarterback position but if you look at it this year -- You're not gonna -- -- and they're not gonna get law. I go to and he goes -- project. And really should be a second round draft choice so should they -- the quarterback in the middle announces that there's somebody there that there -- Felix who worked and developed absolutely. I think they should do that but I think what they did it at least you know at least the war within these desperate. Charlie for election go I wanna ask you about the Buffalo Bills playing in their future in buffalo and you're on the inside you've heard a lot of the rumblings about you know the bills what happens eventually -- Ralph Wilson no longer owns the team. And are they candidates move to LA obviously the Toronto thing is still out there they're going to re -- the Toronto series we were told that this week we are also told that. The one pre season game every other year will now be moved back to Orchard Park but they'll still pretty much had the same kind of structure looks like going forward. What what do you think let's take twenty years from now do you think the Buffalo Bills are part of buffalo. What he has a lot timeout opened -- -- three years. So now I can't answer that question I'll say that the -- -- like people there. However. That's a long -- mister wolf the city itself mean. You know entry passes away it it would be -- And I think it's. Obviously the only thing here's. It's a long ways away too because there's no stadium. And I don't think I understand this concrete money yet to build that stadium. But clearly. You can't cross that off the list but talk is the only people. With one of the groups this year. They were convinced both what was the strained vocal. They did not see -- what was one of the opinions. They thought was realistic to move now you gave me twenty years tortillas -- lot of us may not be erratic. But what to say that the. Right I gotcha I gotcha but. Obviously buffalo with the tradition things like that what your feelings on the game in Toronto just in general being taken away from the bills but overall for -- the perspective as well. Well I do -- like the fact policy. My -- competitive. Had on here as a general manager I -- like the fact division game with the ball well I didn't like that that the united picture right. For the fans in the city. I understand the concept. The economy in the buffalo area expanding the market. A lowering season ticket prices in the sense by putting one into Toronto. I I didn't have a problem with that. You know it wasn't that long ago. That would use twenty years is that period of time pro out here that the Green Bay Packers lady. In Milwaukee two in -- fact. What's probably a little while back -- that. There -- season ticket base in Milwaukee this season ticket base in -- When they boot the Green -- games to Milwaukee that people -- -- senate -- tickets to those season tickets so they actually had to be sent to -- in technical. In many cases. Are there in Green Bay in I think that helps that obviously an excellent success recently but. So I think -- the Toronto game. It -- the Buffalo Bills in the law or keep that he's been awful. I don't see many you war games on our political stage. So they would have to -- entirely new state. It's about their health standards economically. So I and I don't know enough about the politics of two so that I can happen but I like.
