In years past that that would that you would just the bills would kind of you know wait and see what was out there are a little bit after the first day's bloody past and but the big swarm -- what. This year he said if there's a playmaker out there. You won't be at all you know you won't show any remorse and in going after I mean is that. The type of mindset you're looking at today I mean I know I know it's and what's refreshing for. And that's exactly where we are. You know the first couple years. What we need it was numbers we made it yet. Good core players hit to fields and and I think we've done it over this two year created that wind laughs then. Show and as much as we'd like for two bit. We think we're at a point if if we can they'll a couple of needs in free agency that are. Play makers at them. With a good draft class get a gas back healthy -- wing wing made a factor. Now I know. You can't talk about individual players but. Certain players on the team certainly have been talking a bigger game to to some of the free agents out there and Steve he's been reaching out to. Particular player that you're familiar with the Shawne Merriman has done the same. Mean how do you feel about your players trying to. In you know feeling like. That they have such a backing from the front office that they can go out and do that sort of thing I mean does that Ali that they do that or or what what what do you think of all that. You know I love it I think it's great I mean if you've got jazz take care enough about eighteen to try to recruit. You know we don't. We don't let them decide who we're going actor like but to know that they would. Appears better. Good solid players force they don't excite defiance. We were encouraged a couple of times to go away after some really big name gas. What's a successful first day for you guys were getting closer -- four course you're sitting here thus it's not like -- burning phone lines are shuffling papers right now. So I'm guessing that things are. Almost everyone in the organization has set his pass rusher how would you assess the depth of the free agency class at that position. Well I think you've got different phases. I think -- three -- -- gas that. Are probably in this first group. And in -- you've got some metal guys that are going. Sadly and that's going basin has announced it 4 o'clock. It freeagent see this going shocks some -- -- let him go our main players. There's. -- there's some teams that went into this year thinking that the cap was going to be more after the CB it. Kept to have them in our gas kept telling us it was going to be flat. And and it has been so I thank you actually some. I think you'll see some shocker released for. And what about -- the wide receiver position as well -- know that was a particularly deep. Class of free agent wide receivers they deliver deeper before you guys respond Stevie but right. Just general and generalize what. That type market likely I you know I think he's good in. Wide receiver. And running back is always that numbers and it and whether it's in the draft or whether it's in free agency. They just a lot of up and more. Teams are using more work so you've got you got more guys that are. Subject to being cut and let go. When you evaluate your roster and its needs. And you determine what you need to do to fill certain spots heading into the 2012 season. Where do you -- to what degree do you categorize this is a draft need. This is a free agency need and how closely. You know -- thank you I think that way it goes but Karl's one comes before they there. That you've got a chance to. You -- rexrodt after all is many needs EG can and freeagent. And then. Failing him with the draft that's the way we try to do that because free agency comes first so. If you got a pressing need at a position. You'd try to fit in free agency in the -- came in that's got to be a concentration in the draft is that always been the case or is that another thing that has maybe. Change this year as opposed to when you're in the building blocks phase maybe. Everybody's a draft consideration whereas now the emphasis it shifted more to free agency you know I. I think you're probably. Right about that it we're. When we started we had so many places to fail like -- and our emphasis on numbers. But now I think we're to the point if we can't. Again to elect up needs in free agency and then have a good draft we wouldn't be a factor toward being. Now -- You have to that you guys have to feel like you're pretty close I mean. Resigning for guys in five days I mean. Three of which are will probably be starters for for this team next year. You have to feel like you're pretty close and and media is that why there's a little bit more talk of of a -- media more aggressive mindset heading into a day like today. You know I think -- but -- also ahead this in man. Six months ago may be a year ago that we were going to be more aggressive in free agency that's. This is our third year coming up and it's ten. It could be a factor and we've got to do whatever it takes in all I care about women I'm not trying to. To do anything else are satisfied in need go around this war we wanna see the meals -- If I can ask it divisional question because it's obvious is the big story in the NFL right now is Peyton Manning his tour -- making. The Miami Dolphins one of the teams that he visited with then when the whole process started I think a lot of people if they had a bad. Were say that he's headed to Miami I exchanged a little bit but. As a team the F -- twice a year. How are you monitoring that situation. I have no I don't know how this come out probably not very good but I don't scare me. I mean he don't scare us and I don't I don't worry about yet we don't we don't we we priced Tom Brady twice a year. Throw pipe and then we just we need to get to the parish. Now regarding the Peyton Manning or decision like this and and we could even take -- many to name out discussion needed just label him as any player coming off a significant injury. That it teams some -- Whether it's the dolphins at cardinals Broncos whomever is gonna throw a lot of money. From a managerial standpoint what are your general thoughts. Committing so much cap room to a guy. That you maybe haven't even seen throw the ball yet and is that may be attractive for you is somebody who works for -- different team in the NFL you know to go ahead and go ahead and sink a bunch of money into it into somebody we will we'll spend our money obviously a little differently Aggie and I think it's just a different philosophy remember. You know Donovan McNabb have them in case some of these gas they'd like to go with the older -- That's not our mindset. We we -- rather. Use our money in a different way I got great respect of Peyton Manning I've been watching him since he's a freshman in college you know he's. That things he's done is is phenomenal it reminds me a little bit. Except for that a chip that the situation we ran in San Diego would drew birdies when we had the injury and the doctors couldn't tell us for sure he'd be. Healthy and you go up to put all your money -- You know -- again NASA decision other things have to -- got me at least. For us but he said something in passing when talking about the Manning.
