Nursery here in studio with us -- over the bulldogs -- will be here until six -- the a couple of calls -- a moment. After 6 o'clock will reflect a little bit then get to football the NFL schedule comes out. At seven Joba Skelly a -- fuel cell departure go in at seven with their draft show and we'll talk to Joseph. In the 6 o'clock hour. Darcy were talking here about suspensions in the flyer series for you to calls but a statement I guess I'm asking for for news about how. Just I don't know it to many to us. I'll just tell you what I tell everybody which is that I can't think of anybody I know that is not always thought that NHL discipline was a joke. A total joke and I should consider that I know you but I really don't know your opinion about this. Maybe you'll get it on the air. What do you think about what's going on. What can learn what I hear. And I'm not at liberty I I think I've got to stay away from answering any idea any of those questions. From my own safety. I I think that you know I I do hear the questions -- hear the questions about consistency. And. I I don't I don't have -- did you did you like watching Sunday's. One flyer gamers that over the line. -- -- It was -- if you're out on the right side I end up thinking in terms of your player. That that's about as tough and environment is there's been a long time in the game. An and I think it it's driven in large part. By the end of the regular season this -- had gone on. And maybe from the fact that -- from there there there you know prostate rivalries in and and end and the star factor. No I -- that that that is just to blood right now. Yeah I don't I don't I'm not sure I have a good explanation for you as to why taken seriously as I do but I got. Really uncomfortable watching in them again and I like. But I all sitting here for hours days weeks at a time. Begging your team to be tougher and meaner and dirty even. And watching that game Sunday I didn't turn it off. You know but I -- look some of delegates and the pace like it's just like -- really regrettable. And there's very few games that ever get to that point for me -- pretty high -- sports. Well I I. Think the league is. And just based on the variances. Is concerned. First and foremost when I watch that game I think you can. You know you look around and you think in terms of the potential concussions right now to start there. And Adam and I think that's that's probably the biggest concern. Whether the talk more about just how good -- job the league does the teams do the the players everybody's a part of it. At protecting the players and our players. Often hiding symptoms we've heard of that happening. Just what is going on in the back room. Guys that may just thank my reputations on the line I am not standing down. Now no matter what kind of symptoms I'm feeling very complicated topic let's get some some calls and maybe it'll -- about that policy. Here's drew on WGR I drilled. Find it accurate here. Okay let's try a four rank instead go to frank make it quick please. Yes hey Darcy how -- -- -- to wanted to make that comment and have a question. I'm as far as. I thought that it's the coolest the owner of the papers back -- not creator he was treated I think he would still be here. And also my question is well. Last two years I would say the most frustrating thing about. Patching the sabres was it's just a lack of goals. And I remember. Just every game. 22 on one another thing routed to and those wondering what you gonna do in the off season to a -- that. I think that. I would agree with you. This year I I actually last year we scored I wanna see -- right 245. Goals I think the Bruins scored 246. Goals. And soul in order to historically in order to win the Stanley Cup you have to be and around 215 to 260 range I think that's dropping now it's dropped this year. But certainly this year scoring that lack of scoring was a real concern for us and it's something that with that we're focused on. The caller mentions career or -- -- perhaps but Brit I think no limit. Just you know Darcy -- when you think about the fact that Philadelphia gave him the length length of term you might say. For that contract does it surprise you that at five years into it he is still performing at his level. -- all it especially in the playoffs Danny is highly competitive and he situations and I think his playoff history the proves that point. Which is pretty exceptional. He left for more money than he would have gotten here ultimately I think that is fair to say and safe to say. What -- what criticism might be fair of you or of the -- about why Briere is not still here. Like I think it's just. We we were prepared to pay. Were you able to get in the free market. And its its its that simple. Will. Is the callers assertion at all correct that if Terry Google owned the team in the summer 2007 or even in the run up to that maybe in an arbitration in 2006. That may -- Jaber -- would've gotten the number he was looking for than before the open market became a factor I I. Think that what Terry has shown since he's purchased the team you don't have to do is look at this past summer. And the unrestricted markets very small and of the players available we were we were at the forefront and so you know you can answer the question yourself like. I think it that that's pretty good indicator there. Here's bill next with Doris your gear on WG RI bill. I Derek he had is -- wondering if you have any interest in trying to make a trade up in the draft with a 21 -- two -- Coming up and listen thank you. Yes yes we do it's. The draft picks and -- and the process that we're going through Kevin DeVine is a director of amateur scouting. And -- Determine which players. Usually what happens there is drop off points and so maybe there's a drop off point after to this year. And then it runs out again for a number of picks and there's another drop often. And then the question becomes when do you think this group of players will be ready to play in the National Hockey League and contribute. And so there's that. Evaluation and then on the other side. Will be what can we do using the draft picks 21 to two seconds. One hand or more. Of those text to help ourselves. In in you know the upcoming season them more immediate -- thing and and and and again will work through that and I am. We'll see what's available and really all of that stuff happens. Most often. The week leading up to the draft in the draft itself. But sitting here now do you have an idea how many like it how many guys are there that might be able to step in and play and -- the Buffalo Sabres next year. It's a very small group. It's it's it's not a it's not a big number it's right now -- -- it's a smaller number than in. You're do you sense that at the top of the draft it's a pretty safe bet. Like it seems to be. Most years or is it just. Somewhat of a fluke that for several years running the top player for the most part some -- greater -- than others the top player in the draft has made an immediate. And and profound impact on on the league portion. I don't think that's a -- I think that you know the first overall pick. Historically and certainly over the numbered years has become men in close. And -- trades you that's to your point before the week of it that's that's that's action week. We got a week a -- looking at a period. -- that the adjustments in the league revolved around the draft period restricted free agent period secondary market after that and the trade and the don't do a lot of trade union. Between those -- Can we call -- action we can we get Greg -- action week summit like that maybe. We ought to sort that out how much. Much work does your roster need right now in your eyes really recognizing when it was healthy how good it was. It yet like how how important are you still have to come after missing the playoffs even though he had agree -- We we have to address the scoring issue and whether you know whether that is going to be. You know an improvement in the existing players whether that's in that that's a trade. Or change the trade or unrestricted. And restricted market or you're going to get some kids coming up -- But will look to improve. Upfront. You know from the standpoint of additional scoring. Here's Tom next with Darcy -- gear on WGR hello Tom. They are until artists -- Respect everything that he does the conversation. This morning. What struck out there yet bought all. In all voters. To order a what. I thought. The question is what. I'm sorry we couldn't hear you really. Oh I thought I was I have heard this morning in -- I thought you were. Those -- and what I. Other personally to turn around and and produce. I'm wondering why you're out there and. IC okay. The coach asked the coach says the players' time and time again do this when they don't do it is now on the coach. I would I think student Drew Stafford actually did pick up his game and you could maybe attach Tyler -- to that and and I I do think that some other players struggle Jason -- -- bill had a terrific here. And showed that as a captain heat in both improved and and has grown in that capacity. I I think what Lindy you know and and I've been asked this a couple of times to respond to you know when there was comments players made. There's no question that -- Priced players knowing what we have to do what we had to accomplish. Because for a couple reasons one we knew where we had to finish and two. Based on the abilities of the players and I don't think Kia and reasonably ask anything anyone for anything that they couldn't provide. A once in awhile that that's gonna ruffled some feathers and and I'm I'm OK with that. You played you played in the seventies and if that ever happened that your coach via Al -- anyone else criticized the player in the media. You would know about it but do you think not necessarily going back even that far. Is it is it evolving toward players need to be coddled with the amount as the money grows and the lifestyle improves maybe even in in terms of buffalo and the efforts the organization is making that. Make players happy this is a challenge for coach. Well it's a challenge for all coaches. I know I don't think it's about coddling I think it's about an honest evaluation of the capabilities of the player. It's asking and demanding and helping that player achieve. That level of play and not accepting something the last and I don't think any of it is about anger scream and their Qichen and yelling it's a boat. It did it's about. You becoming the best player you can beat. It's about you becoming the best coach you can be it can it's about me becoming the best general manager I can be and needs to start there. And install for me it it is about who lots of honest communication. Revolving around. The truth how much honest. Mutation was there in these exit meetings that may have alluded to the same point Derek Roy made to the media about not liking the fact that rough took. Specific Cingular criticism public. Well my my meetings didn't involved. I met with all the players is as well and and I didn't deal with that sells Willis you know I didn't I didn't get any -- was -- -- -- with players. So I don't you know I'm not sure Bulldog when that chance to question doesn't ask the question I I I view that as a situations. That. I'm okay -- -- because expectations were there you know. And Lindy does one thing he cares about players to tell them the truth. Two to make sure that his measurement on on their abilities what they can bring what they can give to the organization. And what they'll achieve for themselves. In our our lines and I'm aware of what the conversations -- I'm I'm comfortable with -- office say you don't think you've got a problem in this area with players and the coach in public criticism. No I don't I don't think we know we we had a little bit of you know. I would name caller note -- that one situation to situations and animal care. -- -- your gear after sports and a caller to as well as us a quick border to one. Guys that we haven't seen in buffalo or maybe even Rochester yet.
