And you're being told that you think the build a pretty high and then that that can be a very realistic possibility to pick ten yeah according to a league source Brian the Buffalo Bills are extremely interested in Alabama safety mark Berrian and and along with South Carolina cornerback Stephon Gilmore as a potential candidates for that tenth overall pick. And the source also says the bill's view -- as a quote playmaker Andy quote. He also said that the bills and in our. You know up on Boston College. Linebacker Luke equally but the buzz seems to be surrounding those other two guys first so if if nothing drastic happens on draft day. Van. You know it as in someone big dropping down that tenth spot. -- from from what my source indicated to me it's it's between one of those two guys. And we've talked. I would say it a pretty good length about Gilmore the corner from South Carolina and all of his attributes and we probably say he's the second corner off the board. -- Claiborne on Alex you likely could go as high is pick three to Minnesota in fact that's for you haven't going. In them in your latest mock draft and adding we would -- say we don't expect -- maybe go any lower than five with Tampa Bay but now with that being said. If the bills are looking corner Gilmore may be the guy -- get to ten and if not mark parent. A safety out of Alabama Joseph I would say we haven't really seen. Natalie your -- -- and other mock drafts really have bearing going above picked and so they want them they can get him likely -- the and it's going to be there. Yeah that's right and I think there's more of a chance they Gilmore could be gone. By that tenth pick so. And you know a team out there that may want a guy like mark -- media. Media Dallas media San Diego one of those two teams maybe they wanna trade into the top ten -- and make sure they get their play making safety but. You know appease their attendees can be in strong consideration for that pick from what I'm told pairing would come in and played a strong safety spot you would think logically you would think so just because jurors Byrd was so successful last year. You know I know George Wilson made some nice plays but you know we still struggled tackling at times. Logically you would think he would be that the strong safety role and and pair him along with -- and then go from there than you have a good to and a Bulldog brought up a good point George Wilson's thirty when he it'll do so bad -- openly consider while. Wilson definitely very popular amongst the play ball in the locker a very popular among fans media everybody admitted that is involved in being around this buffalo bills' team. And clearly. You know Wilson and -- would love the pick even though for as much as a team guy is no no guy wants to do -- be replaced or at the very least. It bumped from starter to second string and for as much as. George Wilson might be about as good of the team guys anybody is there out there in the league no one's gonna love the fact that -- May take a guy to essentially take a spot starting spot away from any individual itself even forgot it's as likable as Wilson. Now safety the position itself has this negative. And of cloud over it -- that. There are certain positions you just don't take in the top ten right and you know one of it being possibly linebacker one of it being safety. And we know. Terms of bills fans there's certain positions that -- I would always loved them to avoid. When it comes to a top ten pick. Is safety pick ten the last time the bill even considered a safety this pick I would optical back at very far Donte Whitner and show -- the -- like they were doing a lot of talk about surprising picks mostly ended up being negative of course in terms of the reaction. And the Whitner reaction. Likely would come -- for many that maybe are just not familiar with apparent scheme so much in. If that's the case. Are the bills obviously taking their bills are obviously gonna take what they think -- the best player they're not concerned about fan reaction but clearly fan reaction would. I would guess not be as high. If the safety is taken a -- Well let's get something straight away Mark -- is not Donte Whitner. He has a different type of player he has abilities in coverage. He's a bigger player he's 61213. He's not like he's he's small like Whitner. You know he he's got good size arms and -- he has the ability to -- he's good in run support. He is a very very good prospect and the top safety on the board. In a very very weak safety year but even if it wasn't a weak safety year he probably still would be the top safety on the port -- I just wanna put that out there that mark parent is not Donte -- two totally different players and you also have to keep in mind Brian. That with the rookie wage scale. Taking chances on guys that may be our. I -- -- top ten positions. Is you know there's less of a stress putting -- Put on taking. In order -- to tackle or maybe a quarterback if if if that's the direction while ago. -- the having this salary sat. You know it does not dictate that you're going to overspend on a safety and make him one of the highest paid in the league -- it's -- paying him as the tenth overall excel. Those are all things to consider. And by the way he played. Safety for three straight years he's here's a three year starter for them for an awesome defense for one of the best defense is every single year he played. Here's the thing -- last. You know the last time we had talked in you'd mentioned there and to me and it may be an option immediately I thought. Is the reason they're taking him is because Rob Gronkowski is in the -- and that certainly isn't too. Is his cover. Ability good enough to handle -- Gradkowski -- now. To be perfectly honest Brian I didn't do a whole lot on safeties heading into this so all they tumor that was the first thing when you mentioned -- and to me when we last spoke I immediately thought the move Gradkowski right. -- got to find a way because he has all the bills from just in the two years that he's been against them from just the few games that I've watched he is quite good in coverage I don't mean Rob Gronkowski is a whole different ball game. When you go to expect any rookie to come in and -- cover this guy -- so amazingly enough has only played two years in the NFL. Gradkowski is in his -- -- I mean there's the he's priority right up there with the best in the NFL but. Do like any any guy that can improve covering him. Is the better because the patriots will continue to kill the bills with Rob Gronkowski if they don't have somebody that can cover now. Do I believe that he can shut down Gradkowski and those types and I ask you to check out domestic -- slowdown no picnic and I think I think he has the ability once he you know gets a little well seasoned into into the NFL. That he'll be able to do just that and definitely will be an upgrade over Brian Scott in that role because that's what they wanna use Brian -- to do a lot of -- -- to the use of last year to do when in the report that they like him on. On tight ends because the size. Brian you brought up Donte -- obviously we'll -- as the research on safeties were picked in the top ten or even just really the first round in over the last decade or so. Really the only ones -- -- a couple of the top 101 of them very recently 2010 -- buried number five is a very good player who obviously had the injury last year opening game of the year against the bills that had a very good rookie year. The year before that no problem with that case number and in 2007. LaRon Landry taken by the Washington Redskins at. At number six overall was now with the jets in 2006. Natalie Donte Whitner collaborate Michael Huff. At number seven was taken. To who turned his career around for for the raiders still ball hop in Whitner. Below what you'd want Berkshire a seventh and eighth pick but they both have. Even Whitner with San Francisco even during some awfully years he was a part of a very good -- it got to the NFC title game so I mean. And there was some decent spot that -- in 2004 number five overall pick the late Sean Taylor. Not a bad -- he was pretty darn good right play but the interesting thing is I would think we'd we all agree that. Really the dominant -- of the last decade are Troy Polamalu and battery and Troy Polamalu was the sixteenth overall pick in 2003. And Ed Reed was the 24 overall pick in 2002. So first round I mean. I would totally agree to sell when you think of when I think of play making safeties those are the first to that clearly come to mind and I guess it if you will. Want that then maybe it is what you have to do is is use a first round draft picks -- if they. Think -- the bills do that they think bearing can be anything close to those two guys -- -- -- mentioned then. I don't have a problem -- even though it might be a position that we hadn't considered I would call a need I think that's real lofty expectations though Brian if they think it is well putting not a no I'm I'm not saying what are you take a safety pick ten or on the draft. Went on a team with a lot of needs and we probably wouldn't put safety right up there at the top. I think they probably have to feel that he has play making ability -- sure they too to do -- listening ports that read in Polamalu are gonna do. On the field I'm not saying that you're gonna turn out to be hall of famers like likely read we know Marty will be in Polamalu is on the course the beating. But they would have to think that. This -- good enough. That we think potentially. He could play like those guys at some point in his career otherwise it's not worth taking. No I I hear where you're coming from Brian I really do and you know I just. Find and as a whole to be unfair to that's fun I guess expect I checked my comparison from -- -- from a ten from from the tenth overall pick. Now off he was a safety being taken first overall I think -- those expectations will be very fair then you're saying you are taking the next Ed -- but if you take exact over exactly. 8030550. A week ago Peter King put to Mark Barron has a possibility for the bills and one of his mock drafts and I I think Lombardi just put bear into the bills and his most recent mock draft so. Yeah last night we -- yeah so there is there is some momentum from from pretty connected guys around their so I would think -- that interest is real. And you know if Dallas wanted to wanted to trade up. Again you know they would have and give up. Something good and and you know. Really sweet the bills off their feet if if the bills think this highly about it about a guy Alex Barron or or Gilmore to Gilmore the guy lost in this we're talking about safety safety safety right they still really like Stephon Gilmore tonight. And I would love the -- of Stephane Gilmore that ends up being the case for all of his reasons on and off the -- -- -- could be tremendous asset to this bills team. At a very very high position of need in my opinion. Dallas is at fourteen. So moving up what. You go from fourteen to ten is that yeah cost yet to to may be a whopper of a two for three something like that wouldn't be a one yeah certainly no -- on statistical awful you know the bills -- probably have to give up a pick for higher I think would be the ideal way to go. You know depending on who's the who's on the board and they take in the first just like any draft. I love how -- yet the break in between the day -- it's great for not only for our purposes of you know doing a radio show and analyzing and I know Joseph you'll love to sit there and okay around one's over Nauman going to predict what's gonna happen around two but it gives the teams. That I think do their homework a good advantage because they'll have an opportunity than to react and they've. Done research enough so that if teams are prepared enough and -- Kabila necessarily do it in the course of less than a day but here teams that have figured out maybe. A master plan a little -- and I think the bills. You'd say at least verbally are saying -- they have one and having that chance to react and OK you know we've taken such as -- position here in round one. Maybe it is a safety or corner OK now we -- on offense. For -- two in his office to tackle as a wide receiver and and the discussion of the possibilities I think that's what's so cool is that there's that little transition between.
