Some of the things that the bills may like about him what's this talk about again what happened out of the stadium today more work -- for the players. Yeah more or -- for the player Arnold football still yeah and three of the scouts spoke with and a few of us in the media and in what they. It in some of the bigger prospects. That that are coming out this year and you know just questions on this -- -- certain regions and there's a lot of talk about some quarterbacks some of the the middle tier prospects are some good stuff on Kirk cousins nick -- Ryan Lindley. BJ Coleman Kellen Moore all of those guys so you wanna check it out to mean there's there's other positions they covered but after what checking out it's all the WGR 550 to account you can hear it right there for yourself. It's the a third story on the top on the flip there and it's. Got a nice picture Kellen Moore there aren't around him at the Boise State you're -- west -- West Coast scout Matt Hanson had some pretty nice things to say about Alan Morse -- wanted to check it out of the will level play some of those today. During the course and portion of our two hours but -- let's get right to itself just mentioned in your story that son also a little easier by fifty dot com about. The bills and in your latest mock draft you have them going with a safety in this the first time. Really that that's been talked about in quite some depth. Mark -- safety from Alabama. And you're being told that you think the build a pretty high and then that that can be a very realistic possibility to pick ten yeah according to a league source Brian the Buffalo Bills are extremely interested in Alabama safety mark Berrian and and along with South Carolina cornerback Stephon Gilmore as a potential candidates for that tenth overall pick. And the source also says the bill's view -- as a quote playmaker Andy quote. He also said that the bills and in our. You know up on Boston College. Linebacker Luke equally but the buzz seems to be surrounding those other two guys first so if if nothing drastic happens on draft day. Van. You know it as in someone big dropping down that tenth spot. -- from from what my source indicated to me it's it's between one of those two guys. And we've talked. I would say it a pretty good length about Gilmore the corner from South Carolina and all of his attributes and we probably say he's the second corner off the board. -- Claiborne on Alex you likely could go as high is pick three to Minnesota in fact that's for you haven't going. In them in your latest mock draft and adding we would -- say we don't expect -- maybe go any lower than five with Tampa Bay but now with that being said. If the bills are looking corner Gilmore may be the guy -- get to ten and if not mark parent. A safety out of Alabama Joseph I would say we haven't really seen. Natalie your -- -- and other mock drafts really have bearing going above picked and so they want them they can get him likely -- the and it's going to be there. Yeah that's right and I think there's more of a chance they Gilmore could be gone. By that tenth pick so. And you know a team out there that may want a guy like mark -- media. Media Dallas media San Diego one of those two teams maybe they wanna trade into the top ten -- and make sure they get their play making safety but. You know appease their attendees can be in strong consideration for that pick from what I'm told pairing would come in and played a strong safety spot you would think logically you would think so just because jurors Byrd was so successful last year. You know I know George Wilson made some nice plays but you know we still struggled tackling at times. Logically you would think he would be that the strong safety role and and pair him along with -- and then go from there than you have a good to and a Bulldog brought up a good point George Wilson's thirty when he it'll do so bad -- openly consider while. Wilson definitely very popular amongst the play ball in the locker a very popular among fans media everybody admitted that is involved in being around this buffalo bills' team. And clearly. You know Wilson and -- would love the pick even though for as much as a team guy is no no guy wants to do -- be replaced or at the very least. It bumped from starter to second string and for as much as. George Wilson might be about as good of the team guys anybody is there out there in the league no one's gonna love the fact that -- May take a guy to essentially take a spot starting spot away from any individual itself even forgot it's as likable as Wilson. Now safety the position itself has this negative. And of cloud over it -- that. There are certain positions you just don't take in the top ten right and you know one of it being possibly linebacker one of it being safety. And we know. Terms of bills fans there's certain positions that -- I would always loved them to avoid. When it comes to a top ten pick. Is safety pick ten the last time the bill even considered a safety this pick I would optical back at very far Donte Whitner and show -- the -- like they were doing a lot of talk about surprising picks mostly ended up being negative of course in terms of the reaction. And the Whitner reaction. Likely would come -- for many that maybe are just not familiar with apparent scheme so much in. If that's the case. Are the bills obviously taking their bills are obviously gonna take what they think -- the best player they're not concerned about fan reaction but clearly fan reaction would. I would guess not be as high. If the safety is taken a -- Well let's get something straight away Mark -- is not Donte Whitner. He has a different type of player he has abilities in coverage. He's a bigger player he's 61213. He's not like he's he's small like Whitner. You know he he's got good size arms and -- he has the ability to -- he's good in run support. He is a very very good prospect and the top safety on the board. In a very very weak safety year but even if it wasn't a weak safety year he probably still would be the top safety on the port -- I just wanna put that out there that mark parent is not Donte -- two totally different players and you also have to keep in mind Brian. That with the rookie wage scale. Taking chances on guys that may be our. I -- -- top ten positions. Is you know there's less of a stress putting -- Put on taking. In order -- to tackle or maybe a quarterback if if if that's the direction while ago. -- the having this salary sat. You know it does not dictate that you're going to overspend on a safety and make him one of the highest paid in the league -- it's -- paying him as the tenth overall excel. Those are all things to consider. And by the way he played. Safety for three straight years he's here's a three year starter for them for an awesome defense for one of the best defense is every single year he played. Here's the thing -- last. You know the last time we had talked in you'd mentioned there and to me and it may be an option immediately I thought. Is the reason they're taking him is because Rob Gronkowski is in the -- and that certainly isn't too. Is his cover. Ability good enough to handle -- Gradkowski -- now. To be perfectly honest Brian I didn't do a whole lot on safeties heading into this so all they tumor that was the first thing when you mentioned -- and to me when we last spoke I immediately thought the move Gradkowski right. -- got to find a way because he has all the bills from just in the two years that he's been against them from just the few games that I've watched he is quite good in coverage I don't mean Rob Gronkowski is a whole different ball game. When you go to expect any rookie to come in and -- cover this guy -- so amazingly enough has only played two years in the NFL. Gradkowski is in his -- -- I mean there's the he's priority right up there with the best in the NFL but. Do like any any guy that can improve covering him. Is the better because the patriots will continue to kill the bills with Rob Gronkowski if they don't have somebody that can cover now. Do I believe that he can shut down Gradkowski and those types and I ask you to check out domestic -- slowdown no picnic and I think I think he has the ability once he you know gets a little well seasoned into into the NFL. That he'll be able to do just that and definitely will be an upgrade over Brian Scott in that role because that's what they wanna use Brian -- to do a lot of -- -- to the use of last year to do when in the report that they like him on. On tight ends because the size. Brian you brought up Donte -- obviously we'll -- as the research on safeties were picked in the top ten or even just really the first round in over the last decade or so. Really the only ones -- -- a couple of the top 101 of them very recently 2010 -- buried number five is a very good player who obviously had the injury last year opening game of the year against the bills that had a very good rookie year. The year before that no problem with that case number and in 2007. LaRon Landry taken by the Washington Redskins at. At number six overall was now with the jets in 2006. Natalie Donte Whitner collaborate Michael Huff. At number seven was taken. To who turned his career around for for the raiders still ball hop in Whitner. Below what you'd want Berkshire a seventh and eighth pick but they both have. Even Whitner with San Francisco even during some awfully years he was a part of a very good -- it got to the NFC title game so I mean. And there was some decent spot that -- in 2004 number five overall pick the late Sean Taylor. Not a bad -- he was pretty darn good right play but the interesting thing is I would think we'd we all agree that. Really the dominant -- of the last decade are Troy Polamalu and battery and Troy Polamalu was the sixteenth overall pick in 2003. And Ed Reed was the 24 overall pick in 2002. So first round I mean. I would totally agree to sell when you think of when I think of play making safeties those are the first to that clearly come to mind and I guess it if you will. Want that then maybe it is what you have to do is is use a first round draft picks -- if they. Think -- the bills do that they think bearing can be anything close to those two guys -- -- -- mentioned then. I don't have a problem -- even though it might be a position that we hadn't considered I would call a need I think that's real lofty expectations though Brian if they think it is well putting not a no I'm I'm not saying what are you take a safety pick ten or on the draft. Went on a team with a lot of needs and we probably wouldn't put safety right up there at the top. I think they probably have to feel that he has play making ability -- sure they too to do -- listening ports that read in Polamalu are gonna do. On the field I'm not saying that you're gonna turn out to be hall of famers like likely read we know Marty will be in Polamalu is on the course the beating. But they would have to think that. This -- good enough. That we think potentially. He could play like those guys at some point in his career otherwise it's not worth taking. No I I hear where you're coming from Brian I really do and you know I just. Find and as a whole to be unfair to that's fun I guess expect I checked my comparison from -- -- from a ten from from the tenth overall pick. Now off he was a safety being taken first overall I think -- those expectations will be very fair then you're saying you are taking the next Ed -- but if you take exact over exactly. 8030550. Is the number 188550. To -- if the if the bills -- safety. Well would you think about that let's take some calls on that Steve and Holland is -- first hi Steve you're on NFL draft central. I think that they in my culture. -- disordered credibility being hot and very obvious smokescreen. And what it may Ellis who also should be high on him want to trade up to number -- -- good question Joseph what do you think there. All my airport so I don't think it's a smokescreen the fifth fifth at the so. You know that there's always there's always a chance of of that being the case. But. I think the bill's interest in in -- Israel then that that's just the kind of sense I get. And you see things from from other guys out there I mean. A week ago Peter King put to Mark Barron has a possibility for the bills and one of his mock drafts and I I think Lombardi just put bear into the bills and his most recent mock draft so. Yeah last night we -- yeah so there is there is some momentum from from pretty connected guys around their so I would think -- that interest is real. And you know if Dallas wanted to wanted to trade up. Again you know they would have and give up. Something good and and you know. Really sweet the bills off their feet if if the bills think this highly about it about a guy Alex Barron or or Gilmore to Gilmore the guy lost in this we're talking about safety safety safety right they still really like Stephon Gilmore tonight. And I would love the -- of Stephane Gilmore that ends up being the case for all of his reasons on and off the -- -- -- could be tremendous asset to this bills team. At a very very high position of need in my opinion. Dallas is at fourteen. So moving up what. You go from fourteen to ten is that yeah cost yet to to may be a whopper of a two for three something like that wouldn't be a one yeah certainly no -- on statistical awful you know the bills -- probably have to give up a pick for higher I think would be the ideal way to go. Pan -- 8030550. Is the number there Joe's latest mock draft. Not much change at topped their gel but. Neither is it on anybody's -- we welcomed today it's now official the colts are taking Andrew Luck we knew that are ready and the Redskins taking RG three. You're sticking with the vikings and Morris Claiborne the corner from LSU victory -- half. It makes too much sense I really do you know. I I understand the want for a left tackle but when you have a a lock solid cornerback on the board -- and that is your biggest position of need why don't you take the quarterback and it it makes sense in my mind. Now in -- -- obviously. See the news going around on draft day which is when I'm gonna be putting on my final mock draft and and you know if if -- the consensus seems to be -- wheeled and who might see here say no it's going to be Claiborne. But you know from all indications from guys like -- chapter and and people -- over the team that there is legit interest in more Claiborne in. And you know -- I believe someone said that the vikings are split between the two self. If your split between the two at this point. You know I him you know there's got to be some legs today and being more Claiborne being the panic excellent. -- seventh when he is the time. Let's get a sports update here from Tom we come back more in Joe's drop mock draft who does he have the bills sticking around too what's a name you'll definitely recognize that you've been. Listening to us over the course of the last week yourself more phone calls 8030515. Cells checking your tweets hash tag double the GR draft central and also your texts. At 555 that you'll get some of those in next segment and also. Some of the bill scouts talking about well. Players that will be drafted coming up this week on the -- don't forget Thursday night 7 o'clock live from Ralph Wilson Stadium -- -- and I will be there. And giving -- coverage all throughout the entire. First round from pick one all the way to 32 will be with you all the way to the end. Back with more in a moment draft coverage with your calls common 8030550. Activists on WG. -- what are you welcome back. Little rap on the NFL draft. As pretty popular last year I think that came out last year's draft. As pretty popular and shall play OK Steve Porter that a nice job at that -- you see the video of it on YouTube but these are probably old graphics and everything. My only problem with it is now ESPN uses him for every -- I hit it awesome then button and now I'm kind of they would overdo something. Now. Please look at the civic sorted -- the time NFL draft central welcome back rankles deal. With jobless guy SL the pot you're checking your tweets and -- keep them coming. Phone calls 8030551888550. To 550 tweets at the hash tag WGR. Draft central courier from the bills got this segment on a possible wide receiver that's -- joke. Had the bill's going around to does the in this next my travel get there a second salvo got a tweet coming -- to to that. Yeah one of our loyal followers from the New York City area trade bill New York it is warlock six who wants to know GO. If they do happen to take -- at number ten -- would that -- corner out of play 41 or would they still look at that to bolster the secondary not necessarily. I don't think I don't think though -- taken out of play I think they're just looking. If they take -- and tent. I think dole looked to see who's on the border and who is the best player available for their needs on the board at that point in time and and I don't think it and it. They necessarily coincide with one another. I -- there's a corner there at 41. Curtains are at 41 let's say somehow Dre Kirkpatrick balls all the way down to forty watcher. Electric Patrick mean that might be the pact should take into any corner at ten also wouldn't. Necessarily negate taking safety 41 right but that would mean they would have to believe and a safety that's correct but I I think I think Mark -- -- might be an exception to a rule here. Newton. All right let's go back to the phones here good stuff let's go to Matt Toronto next time -- you're on draft central go ahead. I. Looked into the update. War what you stated to -- orders. Charlie that's something they are here or are you giving it back. Or can you hear about well I would answer that. You would not what we're capable of patient or equally pure outrage and community here. Well -- I would necessarily say that the team may be it it could be just possibly. Sources within the team that have information on at that has been found out troops on some other source and that's -- really even thought and I mean analyze sources that we just upon. I mean Joe's being told from someone that he trusts and eyewitness leave it at that and you know hopefully year listing the station for good entertainment and hopefully some information. Take it for what it's worth. Gordon Buffalo's up next -- Gordon. Yeah I have a question the ability to take it in the first round. Been done well delegated it to be around and second round. To -- Jenkins I think you're talking yes interesting it's Jim Norris. Thank you might slot somewhere in that late first two early second spot he might be around a 41 but it wasn't really too encouraging how the bills answered. Or how buddy -- especially answer to a question about George Jenkins. His personality concerns so. Even if he was on the board of 41. Gonna see them making him a -- -- half they really believe in them but on all it just I just get the feeling that they're not really too hot on the idea. Let's figure George Jenkins and eating a lot of people saying don't you see what. Did you see what Greg cosell did you do endorsed digging -- number five overall to tip but -- -- -- understands and Greg -- is. Completely different he just comes right out right as my -- is not based on how I think things -- would fall should fall or even may fall. All he does is look at tape. Decide who he thinks is better and adds a little bit of need each team but not much doesn't care about off field nothing like that and it throws out there it's as -- regular I kind of like it it's totally different. The -- anybody else does their mock but -- -- -- -- -- you -- -- in the number five spot. From him money is not it's not he thinks he's going there he is believes the tape says he should go number five overall. Yep that's right and he also does that based on team that do. And so that that plays in the equations or pay more calls coming up here in a moment 8030551888550. To 550. The mock draft you have the bills taking mark -- go through more of the text from round one analyst -- I had around -- gel. And you have the bill's going offensive tackle and a name that we actually spoke with last week on the show Jonathan Martin from Stanford got. Right I think the overall. I guess analysis on offensive tackles. Passed Matt called -- at this point. Our that there are dropping and -- I I don't have an offensive tackle from Matt Leo going until it sees the 22 pick with. With Cleveland taking courting Glenn. And so that pushes a lot of guys Downey you know pass structures are big time position in in the first round so there's a lot of those guys taken defensive tackles wide receivers. Or some of those taken in there are so. Jackets I can foresee tea. A situation where Jonathan Martin might slide down there and you know the bills like and they talk about his intelligence in -- -- play on the left side and and you know protecting the blind side of Andrew Luck certainly plays and everything they really like them when when he was on when he is on the board. Meaning meaning when he was on his visit in and they put him on the white board. For the old x.s and o.s game but I think Jonathan Martin would be -- would be their ideal if if he could last all the way to 41 night and I haven't -- and. Here trials take another call we'll talk about where you were at with their last month traffic around two that was another position. Tom black alana is up next -- tiger on the air go ahead. Parent time you -- -- them if Gilmore drops and they're able to get him at one. Do you think. Either of these guys should be available to him who would you take any Currie called Bryant court. If that's that's a tough one that's a tough one for me I like many -- a lot. I know the bills like many carry a lot but I'm sure there it would all depend on who they took in the first round to. And it is so you saying you're seeing Gilmore in the first. You would also have to look at the offense -- best offensive tackle available to. But if you had to ask me between those two who -- the bills taken me they had both guys in for visits. And Wannstedt who loves Betty Currie. I think you have to go curry there now between the -- to be honest and I'd just just not me I think that's what the bills would do but I don't think that is going to come past. Hey Tom thanks and Tom don't go anywhere because you just mentioned. Wide receiver Brian quick and we're gonna hear one of the bill scouts talking about -- quicker just 12. US the bills though Joseph and year previous not -- going wider receiver an -- -- Reuben Randle right now as you. Because that's the way the board fell on that day and in this one I had Randall going. 23 picks earlier to Jacksonville. And and so they missed out on their wide receiver there but yeah you know if if they could add a guy that. With that type of it may impact. Ability to get into the league and in kind of do some things right away I think I think they would like that a lot what he's got the size and speed to. -- you just have to think that. With him off the board in you know a Brian quick they -- Obviously Jonathan Martin -- with the way they think about him I think that would -- that. Yep that's the art will caller asked about quick Sola. The good transition to hear what the bills think about quick appellation state wide out Brian -- Brian quick tease me. And here's bill Scott Tom Roth talking about. -- right Brian quick the topic there with -- -- Tom Rothman. Definitely in terms of the physical part of what we talked about with might interest them in Floyd in the first round quick as some of that to GO. Yeah and you know quick has that. It might take him a little longer -- heard Roth says I mean obviously the transition from. From that level to rule to the NFL is is going to be pretty steep one but. Oh he's got the size and he's got the speed and has dropped -- -- out he's got the ability to get in and out of his break pretty quickly so. And he's got some nice things to work with that teams really like and that's why I think you'll end up going in that second round range and you know he he was -- her visit for the bills so he could be in consideration for that second round pick it's just. You know depending on who's the who's on the board and they take in the first just like any draft. I love how -- yet the break in between the day -- it's great for not only for our purposes of you know doing a radio show and analyzing and I know Joseph you'll love to sit there and okay around one's over Nauman going to predict what's gonna happen around two but it gives the teams. That I think do their homework a good advantage because they'll have an opportunity than to react and they've. Done research enough so that if teams are prepared enough and -- Kabila necessarily do it in the course of less than a day but here teams that have figured out maybe. A master plan a little -- and I think the bills. You'd say at least verbally are saying -- they have one and having that chance to react and OK you know we've taken such as -- position here in round one. Maybe it is a safety or corner OK now we -- on offense. For -- two in his office to tackle as a wide receiver and and the discussion of the possibilities I think that's what's so cool is that there's that little transition between. Of 24 hours -- for the next round starts. Different angle we have really touched on it which is interesting I think we've got to covered everything but. Here's one from Jim listening all the way from Harrisburg PA he says guys. He wants to know if there's any chance that anybody can actually be treated during the draft that's an interesting thought we haven't really given much consideration or draft weekend. On the bills sure yes and maybe Mckelvin. I think you'd be the ideal choice but -- I I don't know anything about that are thrown a name out in your nightly. It's society's annual update publicly or in the falcons. May pull that off at some point during the course of the draft week the last time that. The bills were involved in eight player trade not trade of draft picks. Was Drew Bledsoe it was a date to. On a Sunday back on the draft was a Saturday Sunday. And I remember doing day two of the draft coverage and Dave I know you'll be excited about this story. We were coming up on draft treat me -- it draft -- trade with a player right now like Lee Evans to history during training. Correct but it it was a a date a draft day trade date to. And the bills in the course of -- to. Obtained Drew Bledsoe and remember we were actually finishing their draft coverage of the -- Saturday. I think been done with round three in round four and we were actually. Within minutes of signing off to go to a NASCAR race. And we received word during like a final commercial break that led some may be treated bills and I remember -- my -- and saying. We OK if we preempt the NASCAR race for a little while and Abbas is like now it's on the schedule we need to do it and and I said well what about it I told that the -- attorney for Drew Bledsoe went. He's like go until I tell you not to go and then. Panic set in here then and people are going crazy and and the word came out in. It went from there we -- on for like another five dollars and Dave I'm sure you were upset that day because we we went over your -- Paris right. I know today -- decided to -- ago. That's why I'm here under therapists do not only during sabres games to I have to try to comfort you during bad nights but the on Tuesday the Tuesday before the draft. -- -- -- -- April 24 I don't. -- yes thank -- another good reminder thank you for merit 742. Public -- -- actually selected in first round over ordered three now under. Only -- under only real go under apparently think we can check out -- got a net -- that they were there. I haven't yet signed Josh Robinson -- -- picked -- I I think judge Robinson is as a solid talent you know coming from a smaller type a school at Central Florida. But in and he is a kind of a smaller type of guy a great speed. He can hang with the bigger receivers he proved that that. And in his bowl game in 2010 against AJ Green you know limited him to you know to 77 yards there was a -- has -- to 77 yards a and Green was dominating people all year so. I think. I think he's a solid second round prospect he's a -- that the bills evident that in for a visit and in only if if you're someone that. As someone that they like doesn't fall he could be could be in the consideration for the 41 pick if they don't take -- -- at ten if you go three you know on those. That's and then 10% consent this year -- -- -- -- -- studious guy but yet you know there's been a lot of talk about Mac Leo possibly not going number three overall. If he does how far forty fault with the bills have a chance and -- can get the ten most likely because a lot of talk about and to user were to beat interest in. Going up to get him. Even at three would definitely -- get the five or six but. St. Louis Rams are said to have some interest in him if he does start to slide. And conventional wisdom says that there are -- shouldn't wide receiver -- Justin Blackmon meaning Morse Claiborne but obviously Mac Leo starts bawling. They may be interested in him right there also you know. We talk about the number one pick overall Andrew Luck going to the colts. The colts -- lot of needs right there but. -- where do you see maybe a team like the -- fitting in at the back and you know starting second round I mean they get a stick with the office of trying to rebuild it. Which they go defense they've lost a lot of. And they're switching in the 342 there's you have to consider that Dwight -- still there really and I really speculate here Freeney and I -- are there outside linebackers. As -- had a Chelsea being -- like like Mario Williams in outside linebacker don't. So right so in Puyallup you have to think about that I think corners a big need for them name one corner on the roster. They care -- Jacob Lacey maybe. I get this yet able lot of -- Jerod powers they they need a couple of corners and Indy so. I had them going with Jim Norris Jenkins the kid from north Alabama just because. Good value there and I I'd like to look at trends based on who's coaching where and I think the trend from Nagano the the colts coach who is the ravens defensive. Defensive coordinator last year in the secondary coach leading up to that. You know they took a chance on Jimmy Smith blaster in the late first round and even though he had a host of concerns. And in terms of his personality and and whether or not you can actually trust him and and they took a chance on him and and you know he had -- get it on the field too much last year but it looks like he was stern a work himself in the rotation I think that could be the case for the -- Jenkins. 755 look at -- of the break in here sports at the top of the hour and then back with more phone -- 8030551888552. By the -- from bill scouts. More tweets -- second knows. And a more of your thoughts here on the NFL draft let's talk about -- the sky I'm rankles that our number 2 draft central. Up next after this.
