Mike Lombardi from the NFL network and from showtime as well. Now obviously was that -- that last week living in new York and living with the draft and is kind of to join us here on WGR this morning Mike it's. -- Jeremy good morning how are you today. I don't great thank you how are you doing well you know people -- set up your Mike you know it's been a long long time since his franchise even your dogs -- You have my dog and so this is that the world but -- -- to get on radio shows various nothing ever she's Syria. -- -- socialism big -- so. She's dealing here you're limelight to. I just Mike -- people -- pretty fired up -- -- the Mario Williams thing was huge -- got people really pumped up but it seems like the bills that you know. They hit their needs and they got good players from the draft and that's why I wanna start with you on the draft what are your thoughts overall on the group of players the bills got. Well you know like a couple of guys that they got -- like more than a couple I like the first tropics Stephon Gilmore thinks he's a really good quarter panel -- a whole lot of difference between him and Claiborne actually there's some people only the thought. Claiborne had that that Gilmore was president Claiborne I think more personal politically pretty complete inside and outside corner. Played one really would -- call 8882. Half corner in terms of he wins later the Ralph got great ball skills great hands. But the reality of it is is. I think Gilmore can do all the things you can play in this -- complete chicken. He can win early in the route he can win later in or out so I thought that was good I'm -- equity plan than I thought he was really get a -- parties how to tackle. But I think it was a -- that to get some big guys that they needed to get -- -- -- -- -- to me is the Achilles -- the Buffalo Bills they have to fix it. Because it it really shut down a couple of operations it forces them to be in the very short passing game. You know that they conduct while they can get the ball on the field because we can't protect long enough so. I thought they needed to do that put them. From now on I like to I would especially like the two linebacker -- -- and Carter both those guys were really going to be good players who have -- -- the company contributes so. You don't combine that -- the off season I think their defense really has played much better their defense the defense has gotten better and I think because of the draft and because of the pieces they've added I think it will be even of the overseas. You like Sanders and alls I know it's just said you weren't sure about Glenn is a tackle. We're here and a couple people talk about Sanders in the fifth throughout maybe he could turn out to be something -- I think he's got a chance to -- that it's going to be a developmental process it's never going to be easy but would strip off -- in the fifth -- come into play right away it. But but obviously you don't. They have he has the ability to articulate -- -- and you have to take them to develop -- mean if you go toward -- you don't take one. You wonder why airline but get any better you know you can't always just steel cut off somebody's practice squad that -- -- a three -- homer so. -- all the uptick multiple live in the draft him all about trying to get some kind of player development. Seems like they went after some speed data and you know you mentioned linebackers they seem to be. Pretty excited at the very least about special teams guys can have immense impact on special teams but it seems like they wanted to get bigger and faster. No no question they have to get bigger faster I mean look they they get you know people could run the ball effectively -- last year the control of all them. And I think would you you know that was cinema over the wintry it was about really outscored people what about stopping anybody so. You know I think ultimately they've got a lot more physical approach which should be able to help Kyle Williams comes back -- -- that's certainly can help them Mario Mark Anderson. It gives -- -- presence on the outside of whatever Shawne Merriman can do I mean I have not you know being this is always -- seems like every year that the coming of the of of the -- that we -- market -- Herman's gonna return so we'll see if he does not. But I think at least now they have some options especially on defense. I'm Michael Marty with a -- of the network and showtime I wanna give back to hear your comments on Stephon Gilmore do you think we have Lorenzo ward on. An hour ago the defense of coordinator from South Carolina he was talking about how. Competitive this kid it is -- dive right into the playbook and all these things. Do you think Gilmore is good -- committed start right away. I think he is yeah I think -- I mean look it's not going to be in the they want that's been with young corners before so he obviously understands how to. How to get them into the break the place so I don't think that's going to be an issue I think -- -- game suited for the NFL and police. Physical he's not afraid to contact will be able to go in there. And then you know he's got a challenge receivers and because he's competitive -- certainly do the things he needs to do to to get on the field -- You know -- -- I wanted quickly ask you about a guy from last year because Mike as you mentioned you know the defense gave up gobs and -- he yardage last year we we forget the past for its gonna be much better. But they're quarterback's really need to be upgraded they drafted Aaron Williams last year they drafted -- this year and maybe even Ron Brooks comes into the picture at some point what do you think about. Williams and the young cornerbacks they're putting together up here. Well look I thought Williams had a -- in a Williams can go in the slot I think he's probably gonna have to play inside I'm not treat a little on the outside is just. To speed could -- gonna get to them but I think he's got enough versatility within the scheme Brooks can go inside. You know you have to have safeties and corners that can play with versatility. And they can go inside and outside and I think with Williams legitimate chance to get an inside corner I thought last year. You know he struggled to be a cover back man to man especially against the spread sets but. You know what's in the next here's another year and with more that would better pass -- that certainly get a chance to develop. At least a slot safety combination got that the Cuban patriots get it. Get a lot of guys that can do the versatility within the scheme and I think that'll help. You know -- left a -- and a couple questions one of -- not a Gilmore took forgot to ask. You think he can handle the tight ends from New England. Not that decides matchup on the and that's going to be a problem so we can run with -- certainly can cover but. When the ball in the air I think I think it's going to be it's going to be a situation where I can give the buffalo Mark -- because I thought that was the guy that could at least match up with those guys so. -- I think you'll -- better suited to try to cover the outside guys Brandon Lloyd and those guests. What do they -- TJ Graham. You know. I thought I thought that I like to my thought that that was a nice pic of me to get some some speed because from a player that could make some plays I thought it was a good -- collect all the text to be honest -- was on the same page with the -- up that they had a chance to develop. And looked you know every draft is about. Players have a chance to develop the back of the -- and you know you're not gonna dress seven guys and hopefully get them starters. What would you like to do -- be able to get -- at some god that you -- are -- -- -- as far as an -- they have a chance of that. Michael Marty with a central network and showtime as well like thanks for coming all of us this morning we appreciate your time. I thought about.
