We'll take a look at the depth chart where that stands as far as the bills in the corner situation. And youth movement that seems to be going on in the secondary obviously and concerted effort by the team to go in that direction. But I wanna start today with something that kind of it's been really upsetting me over the last few days and it all started with everything that tragically happened with the juniors say out suicide. California and obviously this on the heels of deep -- -- gig and on the concussion issues and everything that's been talked about with the NFL and the black -- the NFL in the -- football's really been. Really -- in the in the media absolutely. And after I. Saw what happened did you say now after we all watched it and read about it in a tragic was. And what started happening was over the last 48 hours or so especially I think since -- Wednesday Thursday yesterday. That manner. What radio. Show I listen to national local didn't matter what newspaper I opened -- matter what Internet site I went to. Didn't matter what television talk show I listen to a watched. Just seem like there's -- this really big. Bashing. Of the game of football going -- And I think that. One of the issues is these people like Kurt Warner for example who came out on the The Dan Patrick Show and said no he would not let his son's play football and he would try to steer them away from that that is one of the crux of the issue that we're facing now where football that kind of a crisis mode. And Kurt Warner made that statement. A lot of people have been here on this radio station I don't shoot the bull market terrific terrific shows about this. Over the last a few days where they've talked about whether or not you would let your son play football. What the risks of playing football are have been some great comments from all sides of the spectrum coming at you from. Parents out there have been listening to programs in the calling it and from -- the Bulldog themselves. And that's not the only program that's not the only platform that's the only media we've been hearing these things. But really what's kind of bothered me is I think that there hasn't been enough people standing up for the game of football. They're talking about how great of -- game and is it talking about why football is. In can be a tremendous asset -- young men in their use -- also can be very safe and very effective. I think there's kind of a disconnect also between what's happening. With these NFL players who played for so many years and these concussions or finding out about which is obviously there is some sort of link that we know that's going on here. There's a lot of tragedy involved. In the utmost extreme what's happening here there's a lot of these guys are hating debilitating injuries in the brain in the head and things like that. I think that. The connection to be made. Two children playing pop Warner or high school. Who most of which most of which having the very almost all made such a small small percentage will never ever ever go want to play. Much much less a hidden in the and a public even college football. That we're taking these things that are happening to the point point whatever percent of men who played the very highest of levels that -- the games the most physical. For the longest of time what is their career to make sure they're out there and doing things they doing which we know why they're staying in the game when they shouldn't be and things like that. It's that you're in Q well I don't think I should let my son play football because. This is what will happen. And I think that's a pretty big leap for me. I look I played football. Through high school. I was not big enough at the time I graduate high school football to play college. Could probably play division three football like shows you want to go to a bigger schools here teach diversity that's right -- Just I'll play there wasn't a division one player. But I did coach football at. Pretty good level down and a state that as. Some of the best I would say high school athletics in the country's -- football's concerned especially down in Florida. I've been around in coach with a lot of NFL and college people camps and clinics and things like that coaches players I think that. There when you. When you go through when you play the game and you love you so much I love the game of football he -- to -- today with Fred Jackson needs to be out here and T bank obviously. Projection you know these guys that love you football we all. What you played at that level that Fred Jackson's level. In the NFL at junior sales level in the NFL for so many years. Played there. You pop Warner through high school and you just aren't good enough aren't big enough or whatever the reason is to want to played at the next level there's only people who love the game. And we all of the game. But I think to make -- let my son I don't have a set right now maybe this is where I -- and that's what I want your help with today. 8030515. I'm sorry that when I do have a son my plan is that he wants to play football I think that's great and I think that's great. And I'm not gonna be -- someone who takes -- what happened to junior stay out what's happening these concussions in the NFL in the NFL. And taking that particular situation. And applying it's you. Pop Warner in high school and all the positive things all the great things that have happened to me in my friends and how. That has molded us and that has helped us become better human beings have a lot of respect it's not just football by the way it's hockey. I've heard a lot of talk about that all the concussion they're going on it's a fast -- sports of physical sport they all are they're all very physical. And of course I'm not gonna sit here and tell you. That you can't get injured playing pop Warner football or high school football or little. Or Peewee hockey or high school hockey of course you can't of course are always risks involved in that. But what we're seeing is at the highest of levels. The most. Brutal fearsome. And extreme injuries and what's happening to these guys were playing in the NFL what's happening these guys are playing in the NHL now we're starting it here a little bit more about as we go down the road. And we're taking those extremes I think. It's taking a really big connection which to me is is not a connection. As much as it should be as it's not as much connection people making out to be actions say. To the littlest levels. Where there are very there are a lot of safeguards put it in -- not. You're not facing people -- in pop Warner football for example there's people the same weight they play gets in high school football there's so much padding you have to Wear. That's the case in college in the NFL I think half the problem we we are seeing in the NFL I'll be honestly is some of these guys don't Wear their equipment or do things the way they're supposed to protect. Themselves in the league is responsible for that and the players responsible to all part and parcel to the same thing. I'm here to defend the game of football today because I think the game of football is under attack what it shouldn't be. What should be under attack is how the safety. And that where what is happening at the top and highest of levels. In -- protecting people in other protecting themselves those other things we should be looking. The game of football is a great game. And I have no problem telling you re here as I sit. That when I have a son. And he tells me at a young age daddy I'd like to play football. I think that's great I'm not going discourage that if he doesn't roughly that's awesome too it's fine with me. But I've heard a lot of people on the other side of the ledger over the last. Few days that the -- say I think it's been growing ever since all these concussions have been happening and we met so much talk about it ever so many people. Kept putting the game under attack. And how they would trip Jews do not let their son play because of what's happening that's great that's your right as a -- we all know that you your -- apparent is that helped put your children's situations where they can be safe and they can be protected even though they have. A lot of information. That will you know help them as they get older but they're not maybe old enough to understand yet. But. That being said. I don't expect whenever somebody else are we gonna become a college football player much less an NFL player. And I think the lessons he can learn the things didn't go through and yes he can he needs to be tough there's going to be you're gonna come home. -- bumps and bruises when you play these sports like football like hockey like other sports out there that many be out. And many of you watch your son to go through and I understand and I'm probably gonna get some calls they can we say -- guess what -- I played pop or high school I LE concussions now I get that I understand that I'm not saying it's it's I'm not saying it's totally impossible of course it can happen. Of course it will happen. But I think the game being under attack the wade is under attack as the -- Not the NFL about the safety precautions that are happening at the highest of levels is where should be looking at concentrating because it is a great game. It it's really bothered me over the -- I mean you're you're reading a guy like any staples on Sports Illustrated wrote an interesting column. And SI dot com to get jets go read where he makes all these radical proposals about rule changes. And I don't know of those and maybe he's right maybe he's wrong. He says maybe should have no helmets and I've heard that before I actually heard that before from people who studied this particular issue. Where maybe if the helmet is actually the problem. And not the the help because people abused used helmets as weapons. I've heard suggestions it's still a view about eliminating kick off because this is where the biggest problems commit. As far as the high speed collision that happened with these guys. Who knows what the actual answer I do know that thirty to be some safeguards they can but especially get I'll reiterate. At the highest of levels as we you know as we get older and as we watch these guys were getting so big so strong so fast so physical and their livelihood their livelihood. Their paycheck. Is depend upon being out on the field that's why a lot of them unfortunately choose to be out there when they shouldn't or a lot of teams. -- -- -- Lot of teams and organizations. Have elected to look the other way in those situations. I love to get a football I don't wanna see. It pains me it hurts me as a lover of the game as a person who played at a young age. And as someone who believes that there are so many great lessons -- all -- sports not just football hockey it's all -- -- it pains me it hurts me to see the game itself. Under attack like this from so many people so many levels about the youth level about pop Warner about high school about -- about Little League whatever it is wherever sport whatever level. So I'd like to defend that today. And maybe you. Think I'm off my rocker and I am just being big brute who you know knows no other. Knows nothing else other than playing the game and how it's just for these big strong guys you gotta be tough but not what I'm saying at all. 8030550. 888552. By fifty. Is the way a lot of these guys at both the college and the NFL level are wearing their helmets that you don't see as much of a high school level. The hard -- certain that to their head in the improper technique in use -- players today. And I was I grew up playing football through my you all the way through high school. The main thing keep your head -- -- that older right numbers and destroyed. Let them off the ground and how that destroyed over your shoulder speak your you what you did. The people who most people out there will never ever have the ability to get that far it's up in the people were -- -- pop Warner high school throughout it's not just football. -- hockey as well. Play the game watch the game coach they came that I see this happen every week at the major college level -- at the NFL level but it just. Really irks me that bothers me so much. I think that you you know when you fit equipment -- kids are deal complaining because the helmet hurts right. Every single week I watch. College football -- the NFL these helmets popping off left and right. Hate to keep you can't have a kickoff return in college it seems like these days without a helmet rolling down the field that somebody lost about their nod okay. What are the issues this is. And I'm not talk about the long term effects of concussions of course here to operate mainly in a game of the guy getting cautioned that things like that in of course those can contribute to want to respect. One of these issues is at the highest of levels. Guys -- really sacrificing. Safety for comfort. What I mean by that is watched them put their helmets on and off they take them off like baseball caps to go aren't they go off it's so easy look Natalia. If you -- helmet to fit right you want to protect your head. How would you be tight until the -- how mature hurt against your forehead helmet should leave a little bit or -- market your forehead he should -- the pull the -- holes off. -- the pulled out I should say and put pill pull helmet off your head -- -- when you put it back down -- your holes out -- and put it back on. Go watch some of these college guys of their knee pads and they're they're iPad so then some -- NFL don't even Wear them and it's not just the helmet issue but of course we're talking about ahead. We'll watch their helmets. They don't buckle their chin straps and I think that we need to put some legislation NFL about more -- a equipment properly. Because we're giving the players out and of course they're going to. Try to abuse -- they can't when they're doing something you -- the uncomfortable playing a game that they're making their living at W would be comfortable you can perform at the highest level. But it is a look at the sound on the players but let's make some NFL rules about how. Helmets should fit. How much you don't -- -- Jabil to check that yeah I think that's a huge issue I watch these helmets fly off every week there's no reason for. Because of all these concussions that are happening and the way that they are their bodies are function or not functioning. You know you've -- about -- and -- and instead the helmet and that I think you're right you know you that it be beat in the post mentality. And you know I don't know when I wouldn't but wouldn't make a Little League probably through but it was like a big emphasis -- -- -- victory had better definitely amount beat -- then. You know you talk about lower and lower leg injuries all the time in the NFL now I mean none of these guys Wear -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- but -- -- -- -- -- Mean I -- you know. I mean these guys even detect -- -- -- no it always ideal but I mean how many these guys actually tackling the right way and maybe that. A pig in you know I mean -- either get -- and been away from plane for awhile I mean. I was at them they're neglecting it maybe some that we got a look at -- it's just teaching how to do it rightly. You know than we my -- and hit mute down the road we're gonna lose some reason. These things can happen even if -- even if you're not talking about lack of patting but I do think at the head part. Above the shoulders. Is that the necessary -- lack of the padding is he wearing them correctly wearing them properly I think that's where one of these issues of one of these discussions -- starts -- simple. Yeah I mean maybe I'm municipal and about it but you know what I think it's true and I've watched every week it bothers the heck out of me. Every time recede especially the college -- I'm like what are these college coaches don't tell these guys the buckle up. They have those things are tight of how -- should not come off your head but it's a baseball cap. And that's basically what's happening. -- your -- -- sports -- Saturday the BGR what's up Bob. And there were players -- a regular basis collegiate level view of this that this thing hit. What they lack thereof. And what was going down -- -- -- person rattling a Paper that they were going to do some pretty happy legislation. If -- didn't clean it up and they hit. And I think -- a parallel -- -- -- -- they were helpful -- now outside we personal responsibility -- at least play the game spot. Television Internet whatever your platform and every media me listening and hearing. Football coming under attack for so many out there is that we'll never let my Sunday this will never let my child latest -- the game to game the game the game. And I think the football has become under attack unfairly. As the overall picture is concerned football's a great game. And I believe that any son. The daughter you wanna hit here -- there's girls play pop or in this country anybody who goes through that experience. I think can only help you weekly T sports and much sum up the ball. We've heard about the concussions do you -- you learn camaraderie. You make friendships last for like you learn how to be coached by different people. And different ways. You learn about teamwork and respect for your opponent in the greater good. Working towards that goal in those things I think that we are talking about -- that are really a great part of the sports that we -- we let our kids play. And we see what's happening in the NFL. And we say what we that we don't want our son that to happen that -- might respond -- that will let let's remember that very very very few. Really really small percentage. -- anybody ever play this game when your 5671415. Years old ever. We'll get to that level and by the time they get that level. They will have many more resources especially if we go forward here. To make more of those decisions that you can't and they can't together with each other. And that's really I think the disconnect in the -- that people are making that I think is unfair. About what's happening to these guys at that level. It taking it down to do some appeal playing outside idled thousands of people like Agassi by don't know thousand maybe I know hundreds but. Hundreds of thousands of young men and girls they play. Pop Warner -- high school football throughout that. Do you have friendships with we talk with do you think now we may be one of them they did these things are happening to. Dumb. Maybe we're gonna find out somewhere down Colorado wrote that there's a person here person there there's a group of people whatever. But the extreme percentage of what's really happening is really coming from the highest of levels and the guys who played for -- that their life. He also said many of the same things I've been saying here today which is. Yes there is this risk that goes along with it especially the higher level but. There's so many great things about the game that -- we also need to focus on and talk about that go along with playing the game. And my issue that I've had over the last few days after what happened -- Allen all day. Base the discussion revolved around this issue. Has been so many people who said well I will not let my son or daughter whatever you wanna go that route I will not let my son play football. And my eight response to that is why do you think he's going to make the NFL. Because I I really don't know many people who played just pop -- just high school who got that level have not advanced the college or you know NFL ranks. That you know we're hearing all these same issues about I think that we're drawing a really big. Line and I mean it's it's it's a huge recent huge leap of a line between what's happening these guys have played the highest level. -- letting our kids play at the lower levels and I think that that's just the big disconnect that we should not be tried to connect with so many people.
