702. Good morning. Beautiful day coming up here in Western New York just inside our -- studios we are broadcasting live for our WGR golf show welcoming and just after seven rankles deal with yield. And as you heard Jeff -- this PGA pro. With us again -- morning Jeff good morning third member of our roundtable this morning Tim -- transit valley -- send -- on -- beautiful day to play today are. It isn't -- beautiful day yesterday as well. Yet -- been great and spent long -- early start to the season and today's just another great day it's funny get out there and they're working on your game enjoy this nice weather. Absolutely and we of course will be. Talking about -- lot of different stuff going on over. The course of the next hour here on the show but this week the focus. Is on the players championship and the fact that. One of the most exciting tournaments of the year that you'll see on the pro scene Zach Johnson Kevin on that picture the leaders that you just heard. Going on there over the course of the first that are the first update from Matthew collar he'll update us again at 720. And some good names around to discuss that's it will do here early on including. Maybe some of the names that did not make it. One of the biggest names in the world and Rory McIlroy -- that the coming up here all throughout the course of the show these two guys. Jeffords and both played this course though. Tell me something other than the island on seventeen that's cool about the. Course -- every tee shots hard it looks like it look at there's nowhere to bail out on any tee shot anywhere around there seems like. And even around the Green the Green complexes. Remember the ninth Green -- this -- hard during the should be reachable par five -- seem like QB it's easier Green and no no just how buried elephants everywhere yes -- This course says of course was just it was pretty much just totally constructed on its own right I mean they dug it out they've done it they've made some renovations here and there but. And this is not one of those. Course as you'll see come British Open time where they say -- this is -- -- the land form Milan and there hasn't been much change this is pretty much. About as americanized as you can get when they like to use that label for courses. -- you know it is every hole is different though he did it it's a nice job every tee shot every every approach presents a different challenge you know -- -- at a feeding you can't just go around and hit. You know mediocre shots and have any chance this -- got hit really good chats and it rates by Peter writes are on the Green three -- It in the right part of the fairway or you don't have a good look at it they were critical early. The of the lay up it's grown on players. Aaron Williams. And mean unionized -- stood on some of those tees Cisco I mean it's defined where you should hit it but it's kind of becomes hard to. Give it to spots. Yeah especially if the wind gets blown our firm we played the rough was dormant and so was a little little easier and it was still it was cold but it was a it was pretty need to play with need to come down 161718. It was it was a ton of fun. You still see these guys you know we set on seventeen I didn't mean wouldn't think it was that hard -- tee shot really. Pitching wedge or nine iron. Pretty big Green pretty wide but I -- under -- pressure I imagine it's it's a lot different policy. And if you wanna comment anything on the players championship or -- got a chance now with the good weather get out and play any question about your swing. Or equipment the guys will be here for you 803055803. 0551888550. To 550 can join us all throughout the portion of the show. Also if you just up this morning and having me under -- on your computer you -- semi tweet question is put out on Twitter you don't following do so at Brian WGR. Questions saying. Is the island hole number seventeen the best scene in golf or just a really big gimmick. And I think it's -- -- cult like figures who call I think it's real cool you know may now be the greatest toll gulf. But between that walk from my sixteen to seventeen with that -- on the line with all the gallery out there with a history there with everything that goes on there. I think it's it's it's I think it's really neat well here's a two time major champion compare you know and he stands Obama hold -- -- -- in the water and tin cups that give me another one. In it doesn't go to the -- he does it again he goes drop area he chunks it in the water and it's -- out Sony makes -- nine if it was a gimmick. For two time major champion he'd be making three or four money in hand the it's -- doesn't look like it should be that how heartening and -- I mean it's you know looks pretty wide and you just. On to little nine iron up there in the middle of the Green -- three go but. Maybe that's why. Where I'm buying a microphone and I'm playing this game is that I would think they're probably -- -- Great great tweet coming in right away here from Adam insane anytime the pros have to sweat it's a good scene. And I mean that's the case that. Moment especially if you're not sure if you hit it right and there's that that it I mean. It's great TV if I mean just that. All that the there -- there he whoever's down there in the course of the -- Darryl he got enough but there and you know the wind in -- it's -- that goes into it. Well there is some wind there it's pretty old and a -- you can get blasted by something if you if you didn't expected that back pin yesterday was pretty interesting because if you were trying to get all the way back -- quickly was firmer than the guys thought and -- one happening in the water behind in that that's probably pretty frustrating to three feet long and accidents in the -- when you watch later tomorrow I've never seen so many players there. At their balls throughout the flight. Except on that -- using -- might be to hit it felt pretty good pick up the -- but I'm now able to stand down wondering -- to get enough for the better than an argument with me I'll grab their part of your chassis now after they're done I think god that's over. -- when you guys played that hole. What's going through your mind can -- we we've talked so much and you know we've had callers and people tell us about just. First tee jitters then. Just not feeling comfortable on the OT and even sometimes when you got you know we've gone out the group of buddies or whatever you're -- -- turn America you get that nervous feeling. Stand over that seventeen it could be for for many people water for many people is the most visually. Intimidating thing to them. In golf even just sometimes. If it's just a creek off the -- that is only may be a fifty yard clearance sometimes for whatever reason. For an amateur player that is the thing that just gets in there had more than anything it. What what was it like for you guys standing there I mean is it -- you say block it out I'm sure but I mean Kenny really do that one there's all that Waterston. You convince yourself that the square footage on the greens ample. You get the tee up your ball anywhere you liners high as you want to the club you want it shouldn't be that hard. But then you take last look before you take it back -- ago. Well thank. Don't really hit the way I want there is no bail out so I guess that it's in your answer and that's what game -- and -- I thought it was pretty -- just pretty need to be there could you'd seen it so much on TV. I thought the tee shot on eighteen was a lot harder. Again and seventeen so. Eighteen FL is way more difficult seventeen -- just I was pretty cool. On Thursday I was watching the coverage and I I loved about it this Friday said that there's. Different design -- this course they can be visually that can mess with your brain. And they were showing how the tee box exactly lines up parallel with the water stakes the -- so when -- when you're teeing off. Your ball lined up that the other -- markers are all lined up with the water stakes right down. And it said no matter what -- no matter what you're telling yourself your brain can't save nature I go right at this which of course is still your target but. That's why you see so many guys actually miss it right because there. That last minute instinct of what's out of the corner of their left eye is seen. That water stakes lined up right with their their -- alignment and that's why it makes you'll see more guys. Go away right in -- that actually end up wet you know that the. -- it we played it. It was in -- -- from the left the wind was one up trying to hit tee shot the draw wasn't shot at a time so wanted to cut it and figured. If I keep the ball over the water and 90% of its flight. That I have a chance of staying in the fairway because that's taller was if you're gonna get a -- chats -- these guys it might get a draw. But if they talk a little bit it's in the water they want to finish up and even. Zach Johnson makes bullion the last hole with a real nice drive it doesn't end with the drive. Now Andy well we knew we we were -- longer clubs in these guys. To I was watching tiger report five wood down and then one to eight iron in -- now we plated bullet. I mean all the way around like that one was difficult Green was real difficult to with a nice par 53 I mean. For little problem there but it was 33 in. Our follow up with rise snowman there's something on the next level into. But that's when -- on the ball. But it it's one of those golf courses where there isn't a lot of a lot of lot of room to miss it off the tee if you -- that you can get in some bad Nazi -- in the fairway -- the bad spot with a way to trees overhang and things like that -- -- -- -- for fourteen. That oh with a one up the hill air disaster on par four there's not much room. Just it looks more -- TV yeah it's. -- no agreement in the from rehashing it this time. 7-Eleven -- players championship. Is the island hole the best seat in golf for a just a gimmick CU give us a call if you played sawgrass. I know definitely spoke with some have tell us about your experience 8030551888550. To 550 is the number Horry can and a semi tweeting at Bryant. WGR. You mention the tee shot and eighteen I also. Here a lot of guys mention especially the growth -- -- down to the right of the Green. On eighteen did you end up in there -- what is I mean walk through it what is that like in there as it is that as bad as they're describing it. It it is pretty rugged back there McGrath is pretty thick and you know you're hitting a pitch from a downhill -- and long grass and achieve great today -- -- -- we've fortunately the pin was back Creighton. But if you had their back one of those left in -- it be a difficult shot especially as quickly as these greens are -- and watch him bounces up in front on eighteen which as you know on the front -- and rolled down. So there's a lot of speed there. I mean the whole legacy -- the whole course all the way around these guys they looked tired and around is done you know hearing -- consuming -- slickly he'd been beaten. And he was -- taken happen and it's is that it'll grind and you they were sane and that is marxism post game coverage. It's determine where there's a leave them on the ball today after the round of the guys are so tired. He just ready to pack it in the hit a few balls they try to rest and get ready for the next day because it is such a grind every shot every putt every pitch average there's gonna test in some way. Because of that. Danger element on every shot -- that's sort of that focus level of realizing there really is no bail out on a lot of these. Yeah and even the greens the greens are difficult him in his a lot of slope there's nominee starts to hit you mean you got these -- you may have some short clubs in your hand -- -- not. Long -- stand -- course but you've got to be a great tiered rates by yet to be below the -- Clinton up you don't wanna be Clinton downhill or across these big. Big mountain bumps and things like that so that's one of the courses that the wind it mean if it's benign like the first Iranian -- with a nice round. They're they're so good they can pull off but once the wind kicks up any cross one's. Makes that golf course so difficult -- is gonna circular loop current Sheehan Dreier I someday if you man. Yeah one of the things that and also heard about the fact they have now heating systems with the greens and and -- If you see -- -- if you really pay attention and maybe guys would notice this. If you watch old highlights from the players championship from not too long ago when the event was played in March. The greens have that lush Green color to it I know they've changed the greens itself a little supplement but now it's in May it. Has that Browner look to it is that just whether or they actually trying to drive them out from them up alarms or maybe both. The other turned -- grandma I'm sure you know why in they might get played and oversee really be playing in the -- -- -- -- in March. That might be wise man in the in mean the greens there and again with their systems just like yeah we've government -- hasn't dollar care. They can manipulate the services. Is so much obviously just like it gusts that's the example. But like you saying you've seen those different sheen's here and the real colors all the colors that Green -- brown Green is a fast greens -- unless you save it later -- -- Water. This week but this X he had that is -- that superintendent -- be out there -- Sunday evening but watered down in dead during Olympic grass grew a little bit more there's a lot of stress and -- being put Democrats right now I'm sure there keep it right on the edge of they can cut wires -- so much right now the relief -- starts at under. It's hundreds thousands of an -- 110 of an inch they can get -- -- laid down so I want -- Canada. Ninety fives. Thousands of an inch whoops kids get real fast. In its -- think that that's. The direction we're heading more and more of controlled courses too -- is that a good thing. Do we do we still like the old way of doing things that just letting mother nature take care of it or. Q do you like the let's -- here -- and pinpoint every single blade of grass everywhere to make it exactly the way you want. There might not be much more defenses right I mean the ball's going farther and that is logical and farther you can grow rough up but you can make greens brutal. Any golf course around this area you -- the greens and make them fast. You've you missed like this she can't play. He you know I'm I'm a fan of more natural golf courses and let the rough grow up and stuff like that -- it different places have different looks and that's not a place where they're gonna have any natural. Natural looking things around there that's the meat for corporation golf course I don't mind to -- -- in hand that was when he was in his primary and his wife is on the seventeenth although he -- designed that has elected so. -- The the thought of of digging it out in or you know change in the greens at all that sort of stuff that may just be like you said -- I don't discount we're going but. Number there was the tiger proofing of Augusta every course is trying to -- it's awful. At some point obviously these courses can't link that for every American have 9000 yard course is at some point I would I would hope not so. This is there this is there a way of saying our right listen we've lengthened every hole at least to the point of where we would want -- right now and hopefully equipment the equipment won't. Ruin some of these golf courses that are so great I know that. It's already happened yeah -- the -- like congressional and other courses they can host the open anymore because they don't have the length. Yeah Oak Hill wonderful wonderful golf course for in our section here I mean they went from person needs to do what's apart now right. It's it's long and hard in AZ. These guys are just smashing it I don't I and I can't imagine to be much longer it will -- Look who's doing the greens look at the guys that are used in -- and in in the old days it wasn't long putters -- plotters left hand lows but the greens that this is where nine guys out on the tour. There there. -- -- -- and explode so to go and alternative methods of putting to try to overcome these fast firm slick greens. And that's why you're seeing on these different -- methods out there overcome -- Yeah I mean even if we go to the pro every time we played -- turn on Monday they probably have their greens as fast as they can as firm as they can and and they're difficult to go place -- place like -- broker or something like that have been around here and then go on tour and amplify that by. You know 10120. And and if you don't hit it Chris it's gonna skip through the Green and really long rough and everything they're doing is trying to keep these guys they mash them all so far they -- -- so good. It's it's just a different level everything you're doing is trying to keep these scores are relatively reasonable some of the turn it's like it when they have zero. I know Marion it's gonna hosts the US open in a couple years and there are saying now that that's that's surprising in the fact that that it's it's so much shorter compared to the ones that were overseen. Like Bethpage Torrey Pines that are in the 7500 range. That's not going to be anywhere near that but. I think you're right it's you may be unfortunately a lot of really really classic great courses that -- -- out of rotation because of that. Is there if it do you think that there's a real fear. In the fact that some of these courses are going to be just out of date -- to do we have pro events. Or do you think that you know what. It sells. Its money. Keep keep improving the driver keep improving the ball everybody wants to keep hitting it farther and father that's what golf is gonna grow with. Well I think we're at the limit of how far are hitting the ball and everything it now it's a lot of Shea after win his launch angles the face. I think I think the -- most people like to see the pros struggle and fight through it a little bit so that's why you have it that way and that we're going the other way. We're trying to make golf more fun we puts new for tees in some people are eight times and nine irons into greens instead -- hit driver three wood wedge in every par four. But that's I think that's what people want to see when they watch the tour players and I love watching the open I'll watch these guys -- it out and try to grind out a six footer for double Keeneland but it. I also did did like what they did at the open at Torrey Pines they had that alternate tees are on day it was a long par four wonder they put it up there and -- -- -- -- some reachable forests where you -- that risk reward element into it. And then the thing that thinking and decision of the strategy comes more to play so I like that concept I hope that they continue to do that move around yeah. Well they are gulf -- especially is becoming more more designed for television you'd like to say there's drivable par the drivable par fours that's the only two people love to watch -- -- to watch it doubles they also like watching birdies so you go to Vegas -- the the biggest everywhere they shoot. 182030. Under years so people like that -- so they like to watch the pros struggle in the major events on I don't think it's gonna get any easier anytime soon. 720s that time let's get our first update with Matthew we are with Tim freeze and Jeff -- transit valley PGA professionals I'm -- deal we are here and we'll talk about some of the players when we return. Is. Who was in contention take on this players championship he won jumping on the conversation even just a question about your swing. 8030558030551888. By fifty to five at the back with more golf show right after this aren't double -- Kevin not one of the -- leaders as the players championship. Within that mile deep in the background of course of course and wake everybody up here in style 728 time. Yes good morning it is our WGR golf show rankles -- here with you need answered PGA -- Jeff -- he's with us every week Tim freeze. Head pro over transit -- also part of our roundtable this week both Jeff and Tenet played sawgrass or the courses this week for the players. And their expertise less -- it was good if you missed it where -- -- set your alarms 28 minutes earlier next week but if you did miss that lucky you. Matthew -- our producer will help you out and put it up on the audio -- here just a little bit later this morning and you can check it out go to our. Homepage WGR 550 dot com click on the on air section in the find -- says WG our golf coverage and it'll be up there. Later this morning and is heard there from -- not he's one of the trio leading along with former masters champ Zach Johnson and Matt co chair. And not himself about this that made fifteen birdies over the first two rounds of the most at the players Jamie chip. On the first two days since 1983. Very consistent play to. How about just having 24 parts in each of the first two rounds yes 24 putts over eighteen. Holes. But if that's pretty pretty good stuff right there to -- long time to do it though. Yes they're slow player was insisting that Khartoum about his -- pace of play after round. And his fight through it and some he knows he's aware of and he's trying to get better Eddie tells as a fellow competitors before heads -- around me. I dispute over the ball sometimes I have a pre shot routine and if I can stick to have to pull back -- and restart it was pretty interesting. Long long time -- watching some of the TV on. Thursday there -- showing Ben Crane shot and eighteen is routine is I mean he's definitely notoriously known for being slow but. He stays over the law quite awhile. And also that. Two steps behind the ball sort of thing that also seems like it's on what are you. I playing with him I can see lives you know we know seventeen he had the these -- years ago I had to I. People love I know he's one of the -- and especially after he did the video with Bubba and all those other you know there with the other guys that were there on these were real heel yeah. As well as -- -- the last few Jews YouTube and grain and -- play video for three minutes you'll hear it makes fun of himself -- because he knows he's just deliver. Interesting thing -- I thought man who cheer leads the tour between fifty and 125 yards in proximity to the hole. So that will be my pick for this week and I think they're guy swings the club beautifully. He doesn't hit many funky looking shots and he's great with a wedge in his hands so -- ATM you have. He has played this course a lot his parents live in Jacksonville you know family was all there agreed him after the eighteenth yesterday. And he just seems. Study like mentally strong to real handle a grind that is the four days here the -- played well the masters to him he's he's he's played over the year with the amateur the younger days when I would say year he played well he's he's light he likes a gust and he's playing well here again he. Rework his swing you know people say -- he looks funny but if you look at his swing on video to me it's one of most technically sound swings on the tour and be complete by strikes it. Sort of a flatter swings that. Are you guys are the pros here describe it better than just an overly six two hours so we you know relies that's one plane. Qualities the he stands -- laughs Iceland's -- left post -- Looks like he's leaning left more and that's you'll see a lot more -- tour the golf machine and different theories have come back. Hogan did this from the page 73 -- -- -- and book and there it is your year shoulders get a little bit in front of your hips up -- all the side when you can putt the ball Kevin not to mention he's thinking about -- watch him in his routine. No matter how you swing it around there we could talk about tiger and what he's doing what changed over one day but the putting the deal millions for. Well I think here too though it does put a big premium on ball -- again because if you can't get it on those greens you're chipping you don't wanna be chipping around there too much. But you know you -- a -- like Mac future and that's -- -- -- around his -- that's where the pros are different than most amateurs they're gonna be shallow into the Boller around their -- where most amateurs are trying to drive in that club in the Atlanta monster Steve. So you watch him he's got a real shallow round of all of them do they -- take nice Kenny did it's -- go straight to you know it's. You don't see a lot of big -- David searching with that Tim addict makes custom -- -- this week with the -- were -- -- You don't out of to self Abbas Ava. But on ourself at that -- a little secret test facility -- It's really -- treat you up there and watch help people get fitted properly and I'm hit balls on one side in the two. Machines that are testing all the pro -- on the other side -- not many difference on these fees -- the tour pros are out there working on their swings and getting fitted and to suggest that very skinny. They constructive it's and didn't they just have occurred Ben Curtis and admit -- a fitting change how he's played -- -- -- change of yeah he'd get a cent of this -- -- -- ones which are little offset scheme improvements up irons -- -- changed the way thinkers place company and he's playing great basketball here he's been playing well some looked confident sometimes sparks the regard he's only a couple shots back. -- -- So we mention not to mention future the other -- tie for the lead is former masters champion. Zach Johnson he shot 66 yesterday one of the best rounds out there. What that 65 had he not bogeyed. The eighteenth but one -- Zach Johnson is doing that beat Tiger Woods is not doing enough he's taking advantage. Of the par fives yesterday. Johnson birdied three of three of the four par fives in his round and then did it again in round one. And he's usually doing it with his wedges and -- -- -- unmask -- we have one last. Yeah he's -- he's the ultimate grinder he's out -- just hit his shots and just -- yardage is and just plodding his way around the golf course and and he's making the putts obviously. You can't grip is strong enough that Johnson says left hand there it is a strong grip hits just rip roaring draw. Almost every shot. There's not you know there's not a lot of even if you look at all these guys they don't swing perfect they just play great you know they just played that what they're good -- Johnson himself this year actually has not missed the cut in all his events that he's been in. Eleven for eleven. And his best finish a second place finish at the RBC heritage back in mid April. Two top ten's overall so he's pretty good season. Twentieth right now on the FedEx Cup standings. But he's a guy after he won the masters I mean every time you we have that newcomer win a major -- -- like to project is this kid is this the flash in the pan like. Todd Hamilton or somebody like that. Sean the keel is that we like or is this gimme guy's gonna rattle off a couple of -- that one people thought this could be guided to a couple more. The I didn't I thought because he's now one of those badgers you know he's a grinder and a wedge player I thought he had good he's a great player obviously but I you know right. You think of those guys like Rory McIlroy they can man she didn't have the perfect beautiful screens and and all that -- -- shots where he's more of a potter -- it's his job. That's why advocate in this weekend then yes exactly if -- allegations. Adam -- he swings beautifully. In this potter may have just helped them -- the US GA makes any kind of change anchoring. It's gonna hurt guys like and scatter. Freddie couples and Valerie -- and that's when it's awesome. Aside from his putting yesterday he could be right at the. Let's get that tiger here on the golf -- 735 Tim freeze PGA pro transit valley Jeff meet -- Frankel deal. Woods in danger of it's missing the cut going to date to. Ends up shooting 68 yesterday. And minus two overall for the tournament after going 746080s. Tied for thirtieth although that's a little misleading because. We -- just barely made cuts tied for 56 I mean there's there's that huge amount of golfers. That are -- hide. Something like seventeen guys are at minus one and and and yet another dozen at minus threes I mean that a lot of guys clump together which means. The fact that he's only six shots back that's pride of the best news of the fact that six back although there's a -- guys in between. But yankees -- -- to do is 66 like he'd wanted to that we heard in that earlier sportscast -- And maybe maybe go back to back 66 is here and we can hear the chants. I don't even think he's got to go that low if he has a good round if he gets started early and get some look gets put to low score up in only starts making birdies early in his around and you know as the day goes on it seems the wind picks up the course dries out these guys you're leaving the last group we have to wait around all day to play in tiger went -- -- tigers eight under if you shoot six under. Did you see similar Golf Channel and anybody that might be listening to it catches that put -- frank novel it is nice job. And did his stuff from that was pretty interesting he was hitting a little sideways on Thursday and it showed how far away he was standing for the ball. Well then yesterday they showed how Coles who stand inaudible he moved before five which is close to the ball -- posture look better. Companies have much better shots and he says now he could come out of the -- today was another great round just because he change is set up so. You know for those that are listening you can make simple fundamental changes and maybe change your game that day. And spark your confidence in May last a long time you know -- could. Confidence is such a nice thing having your plane you might -- be swinging great but if you got confidence -- degree than he can play great. You played definitely better yesterday -- on Thursday but Thursday. I didn't think he hit the ball awful I thought he'd just again couldn't make any putts there were opportunities to make birdies or save some pars that. Just for whatever -- and the these words even the misses where you know it -- around the cup and to sell bad luck they were. -- of significance and it's again what this seems to be the most. Common theme now among PGA tour quote unquote experts media. What's going on in between the ears of Tiger Woods when he's on the Green with a flat stick well we're self declared -- asking what I'm asking him. 78 under in the flaky -- -- he had two really good birdie chances on 171917. The clicks XPR it was a it was a really bad putt actually. Eighteen arts feels like tiger usually makes those good finishing get to 300 if the crop gets himself motivated for the next day. But just didn't have the speed right and news putts and you know he does it with potter. It's will see is the straight and. Phil Mickelson -- -- we've mentioned yet it's also at that same score of minus two and changed -- are easy to change its potter. Yesterday. But apparently he's gonna go back to is benefit formula that's familiar he'll shafted model again back on Saturday he did this that the heat Shell Houston Open. Earlier this year where he'd Wear one around changed putters what we do have an expert in switching putters stealing here I've got a wall yeah. -- that that's not a good sign of yours which empowers right yes. There's account what's OK let's just it if you can do it in a minute -- Tim I just. Obviously maybe you have some of the thoughts that maybe -- -- about as putting a title artist anybody in general but. Is is that more. Just a confidence thing with you into the fact the you what you would want it to go from one -- to another is -- the fact they had a bad round putting. So I'm gonna help myself just mentally just to give me a different look is that sort of the the thing it's it's all of. Well just the feel of of what she guidance as your over the ball just means a field in the potter gives you better -- grip -- -- better feel the the tension in the putter. Shaft itself sole. Yesterday I didn't putt too good in the tournament I just didn't feel quite right over the ball and back to the drawing board today but he snapped a chocolate and a putting Green put a couple of shifts down and you crew you can create a field Jessica potter doesn't changes -- that much. You -- you make a lot of good par saves but it's a confidence thing to deploy again -- if you look at -- stroke she wouldn't be able to tell the difference but I feel like -- a good putter and I'm confident sometimes -- might struggle with his confidence he's a great player but if -- would. When he gets how this -- shoots real scars would you change the potter based upon the course your playing at all. That you were going of course on Monday it at Niagara Falls and greens are going to be a little slower so we might put a little more weight. Right there Fowler won last week and Jeff I know he's kind of like doing his game going as of late. He had been watching him a little bit more and I really like Charlie competes out there is always current and he fights every shot he's got -- you know he's got a good -- at the ball he seems does seem to control pretty well he's giving it means becoming more more -- -- veteran player would say than just a kid out there and that he said. He plays a good game of golf obviously every time you see he's -- he's doing well and in a lot of term -- he's competes internationally he's done well on the international stage he's he's -- keep -- real good player. How important is to get that first win Hampshire for these guys mentally justice. Get it off if I mean he's one of those guys that definitely people's and I got to win at some point here -- He's make it's always money and endorsement. For all the stuff that's been going on but he hasn't actually won an event he's been on Ryder Cup team but whether one yet. I think it goes from believing you can with -- thinking you can win two believing you can win and and that makes a big difference you know if you actually won then you know he can do it and I think that's they're huge huge step in your career pro and that in the narrative that the guys. Win multiple times that men and women it's so hard to win on the PGA tour LPGA tour senior tour for that matter. And so for Rickie Fowler to win it the media was -- and -- more. He was a good players just a matter you -- the stars have to line but he you create your own lock in a sense the more you practice the luckier you get that's your player so. Fowler -- he's -- grind and he practices hard and sure enough it came out last week in now he's got to be company pay back to our one before I beat the best field I can do it again. Record number of entries if put in. For the US women's open and is going to be a women's event of course -- no idea. The LPGA tournament at locust hill coming up -- about a month or so from now -- will have. Coverage of that coming up -- -- golf show in the upcoming weeks though if you're in that event at locust -- we -- make sure you're with us. As that event approaches will have more on that preview and of course the week of the tournament will -- All about that also in Rochester Monday it CCR the US open local qualifier event. Is going on there. Tweet coming in let's get to that here. The guys having trouble -- been constantly trying to lift the ball making it worse any advice. Yeah I'd like to a lot we see that a lot a lot of people try to flicked it help the ball in the air but I try to do is -- people's give them on the left like posted up on their left leg get their right. -- repeal in the here all their weight and their left leg. And I just try to ensure that they hit down on the golf ball he can put a club shaft. You perpendicular to your your body about two people kind. And that way you can't you have to swing -- your downswing to insure that you hit down slightly and he still when he used to bounce your club. If you're still struggling wanna go see your club pro Europe PGA professional that he can certainly get hit it to squared away in this but it is a tough field for some people not to use their wrists and hands the -- the ball yet you he would. Down ball goes up so anybody's trying to lift the ball you'll find yourself you're hitting it fatter -- and so balls down so if you can feel yourself. I've just -- students say they actually throw all the club but the ball when we throw it and sure enough the club hits the ball on the ground in club goes rolling the ball pops up in the air so any downward motion toward and a chip shot itself. And you wanna learn to use the -- on your wedge to that's gonna help you if you hit a little bit behind -- so little at the club escape through India and still large ball in the air. The device that I would say definitely -- mean that ability to feel confidence chipping if you don't have it. I mean it's disastrous when -- out there about chipping especially if you're playing on faster greens here during troubled chipping and then it's onto a faster Green. It's prime maybe that deceleration of oh my goodness this Green is so fast I'm so nervous about hitting it on there -- letting it roll often and he got another -- -- of -- and maybe even worse. Most people that come for chipping lesson it's it's in the set up a lot of times we'll have to Steve I realize they have their ball too far forward or whatever it is they're set ups usually get messed up that's. -- -- let's get your thoughts here on some of these other golfers that are in contention Harris English you mentioned in -- one shot back Charlie Wi Martin layered Jonathan Byrd Adam Scott Brian Davis -- to back. Definitely and it we mentioned the bigger names at three under Donald. Last word to Fowler. Bill Haas a minus five Ben Curtis is having a good years at minus five out of those group there Adam Scott minus six. I know you kind of like the way he's playing. Jeff do you do right now I'd like is happening here -- -- what are we -- -- leaving in about him -- now what do who those names jumps out using you know I think he can maybe do it this weekend. Whoever -- who whoever's been there it's it's part of a process learning how to win. Sometimes is -- harder then winning that encourages when he gets near the lead DC yeah I mean he does here he's -- he's feast or famine so when he gets knew he was going to be fun to watch this week and absolutely -- -- has hit great shots and when we mentioned Adam Scott. Some of these guys and harassing us have a wonderful a rookie here that could you know for a long time be a nice player Kenny. You know with one shot lead coming to seventeen that TPC can -- Absolutely so. I -- before we go here got about thirty seconds left that probably everybody that's getting up the play this morning on the tee at the golf course or in the clubhouse right now maybe. Beyond golf could be talked eleventh young be in a Buffalo Bill that's coming up later on sports talk Saturday quick thought there. I don't know. He's athletic gifted that we recognize is that he seems -- -- and bring things beat bush so there's nothing like that back. Yeah and a decent starter. If -- conversation Hillary you know if it goes down for radio fodder coming from absolutely every the only thought it is to me is that. Maybe the -- think they're they are playoff team and they want. -- insurance that fits for whatever reason goes down side. He is the winner -- one with 31 in nineteen his record 65 he's hired a hundred million it was ugly some of the games at Philly last year so let's hope maybe that the Tennessee Vince Young -- what comes back.
