And the other half totally hate. And that should never be the case. When it comes your backup quarterback you should never have. Huge discussion about the guy in the name. He should be a guy that comes in gets the job done and takes a seat when it's all said and done. But that's we've created. In Tennessee. Let me first of all what happened to Vince Young between his rookie year and the time that. He was ultimately let go by the titans what went wrong with the Vince Young -- You know -- it was it was a pretty consistent issue pretty much all the way through this is the guy. Who who you know these high school football legend didn't in exit. Where at the university of Eric it was a big start variant and and basically was told he could do no wrong -- -- came to the NFL thinking exactly that that he could do no wrong and and nobody could really tell -- anything and that includes coaches and. And beyond that he's not a guy who's are maybe even related to that I guess he's he's not a guy. Who is prone the self examination. And and saying okay I need to do this better I'm gonna work comment if you ask and young Vince Young will tell you. He is a great quarterback in everybody would just leave them alone and let them play the game is way Atlanta pro football is way. Everything will be fine and he truly believes that. And and a big part of the issue was he he was routinely late for meetings he was not active in in. Practice that he didn't really work it is game and practices he didn't. You know he was he was a guy who sort of operated on his own agenda over a a period of five seasons or whatever was. That you know that Barack war Berry Berry and. We get a lot of the people who are in favor of it here in buffalo keep bringing up the point of all he does is when he just wins he is a 31 in nineteen record in this -- so. Tell me how much of that 3190 record is I'm Vince young and how much of that 31 to nineteen record of course not all of it. With what Tennessee played few games at Philly last year but how much of -- was what was surrounding him how much of a part of that 3119 was it really him what he did. It if there's no question Vince Young made plays to win games particularly in 2006. When he was the the offensive rookie of the year I mean there were some spectacular moment when he -- you brought. Helped bring the -- back from. Point one down in the fourth quarter against the giants. Scored scored in overtime touchdown on a long -- Houston. I mean there's. There's any number of those things that the is that the context that people need to understand. With Vince Young is most of his biggest and best performances. Have come. When there's absolutely nothing on the line and keep in mind that the Tennessee Titans started started -- Fargo and six or don't but excuse me his rookie season and and he came and then when they had nothing to lose and it played very well on the strict demand that may end up in the last week of the season when they actually have. There was a scenario I think like fourteen head glued and then the titans and the win in the iTunes or playing an afternoon game the late afternoon game against New England. -- things that are had to happen happen. And engage young played terrible game that day against the patriots. And the titans got beat it was a year it was a similar scenario in 2009. When the when the team started terrible terrible. He came in he played pretty good football and the you know -- one is one playoff performance game at San Diego he was a very good in -- one. So I I think you know I think he sort of he's sort of they -- sort of patent should only -- and he can really handle the pressure of the moment in the NFL. Interesting game we're talking with David Ball player of the city Paper of national talking about his. His when it when Vince Young was in Tennessee in what he witnessed there with Vince Young play for the title on and off the -- wanna get to the off field issue with the eight while issued just the second -- Then would you say that it's it's fair to make -- statement that Vince Young is the kind of guy that. Enjoys and watch and accepts all the praising glory when he does well from the media but wants nothing to deal with any of the criticism when he doesn't. Absolutely he's he's he's the guy you know when you're talking -- is dealing with the media he never understood. For example if you know -- he threw an interception and you ask about the interception. You know people want to know kind of what went wrong and it. Feel like he's being blamed all the time out you know how can you possibly blame me for that -- while would you wanna ask me that -- It it it it's an interest saying it's an interesting dynamic with the -- Yet he loves the loves to be loved in. And any thing that that kind of isn't whole roll and and absolute admiration. EEK sit in front a lot of times in. You know but again I I can go back to meet either world class athlete. It who you know when he showed up at the titans directory and there are a lot of guys in the in the titans director of -- like wow rich article Martina look at this guy go in. So you know he is something special in in in a way but he's he's a guy who's is sort of call who has all the worst enemy. That he Hurt Locker room David any any -- -- -- we see that kind of distraction that it become where players just didn't want him around anymore. Let now I -- -- it's much like here your response this morning he divided the locker room and there are a lot of guys. Who works fiercely loyal to women and that included guys on the defense side of the ball and there were guys to the word -- -- the coaches you -- get him out of here you -- The you know you -- the -- we can't deal with this guy and so he's. You know eat eat eat these patent EP egocentric and and he expects the world spin around and been in some cases it doesn't but but certainly in an NFL locker room not everybody's gonna. I'd -- it's especially if you're not producing. They're let's go back to September 2008. Vince Young goes seawall. There's an issue in a situation where authorities are involved there were rumors that -- maybe even contemplating suicide from some outlets his mother came out. In basically said that her Sunday they wanna play football anymore and this was -- a really bizarre situation you've got to take us into that situation tussle that. More about what happened there how wound up. Yeah he got hurt it in a game that day against Jacksonville didn't play very well -- And that titans lost the game -- very calling -- -- you know people. The sort of -- -- just went off on his own net night it it might you know it might be sort of the one. Moment of introspection he actually added in I would ever -- went off AutoZone apparently bought himself the chicken and get used. Felt like he needed some quiet time in. And people who who -- close to him -- nowhere was he wasn't answering your phone and and so people people got worried his mother in particular contact -- the titans and so -- didn't sort of alerted their security team and and and there was some metro police involved in you know eventually they found him and he wasn't you know wasn't planning on doing any harm to himself or anything like that it was. It was it was one of those moments that bit. It probably got a little over dramatize but sort of -- in -- young you know in in the big show oral Beazer. That these the kinds of things that happened -- it seems. It seemed to Foster this sort of yeah automatic. Response to everything. David I know you don't cover the Eagles I don't cover the Eagles that's where Vince Young was last year but they basically elected to take on Trent Edwards and let go of Vince Young. And I believe that says a lot about what they felt about -- but maybe they just won a bit of a culture change after what they went through last year which -- which is fine. It doesn't seem to me have you did you hear anything about how he wasn't really I really didn't hear that he was a bad teammate. Or anything like that he just came in for a couple games he won one he lost -- and they decide to move out from there was nothing special nothing really positive or nothing really negative do you have. Anything you heard different from that and this is time and -- Yeah not really my my biggest impression that the thing that struck me is is when he signed with Philadelphia actually -- and he. The other thing we'll mention it best days. Running the offense in Tennessee where -- norm chow was the offensive coordinator or check out in the backcourt to. It spent virtually his entire life fit into college offensive coordinator -- let USC. Spent two years with the tightened in and -- in those two years it's played pretty well it and and I think about that back in it it makes me think. Nor shall understood how are really simplify and often. Her -- and sort of make it work for the way most NFL coach is probably. Can't or at least dole wants to do. You know -- and from what I understand the Philadelphia. Philadelphia has the biggest play book in the NFL I never -- that. I never thought that it was going to be good fit there he's and again echoes. That goes back to I think part of it is is spending -- he -- he's not a guy who. Who really really has taken a lot of time. Understand and self defense isn't what he's up against bogey of the titans routinely when they knew he was gonna play what would cut their playbook and it happened not more in and and I don't imagine Andy Reid was the incline is that same sort of thing and that's probably. As bigger reason as any that they've been looking at it there. Okay well how do you think he fits in buffalo -- -- spread offense as you know. Ryan Fitzpatrick Harvard graduate who's in front of him he'll compete with Tyler Thigpen another athletic quarterback by the way. For the backup position it is a small deal one years two million I think he fits here. Yet you know Chan Gailey. Immediate sort of he's sort of half college and pro coach I think you'll probably be. More adaptable that lay and could probably design things that it. It is sort of struck me is that it is. Complete the middle and start the jets signing empty though you know it and and having that extra threatened creating some things for. I don't at all see him as a threat. Derives -- Packard's job but I think if you can. If you can get them on board with with a certain way of thinking in. And and have a package or two in that they've played his strength you know again you -- guy who can make some plays for you but. I've never seen anything to make me think he's you know he's sixteen games are under patent the year guy in the NFL. They have -- -- -- gonna ask you about down their Tennessee the upcoming season bounced back here for Chris Johnson what you guys expected. You know that that that the great question I think the you know I in the court stripped it Campbell right in the in the first round they they seem to be. They seem to be -- moving away from their days -- it's a run heavy offense are you I don't know Chris Johnson going to be featured guy anymore. You know that he has he has that the team's facility working out during the off season program which you haven't done in the last couple years he's seem. He seems very committed to try and try and do better than he did last year. The old will will see I think this for the team over achieved a little bit last season and they -- vary. Difficult schedule this year including. Including a trip to buffalo not the stake in Seoul. There are they're they're gonna be interesting to watch that September is going to be key for and it yup that they haven't. Very very difficult to amber schedule if they get through that you -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- lookout -- -- they're going to be -- factor.
