Welcome back we've got news on the Pro Bowl for you we'll get to that. Before the next update. Cigars too low for -- And on behalf of mankind regret. And we do wanna talk about nick Lidstrom right. Sure enough. Top three lead to -- ever. -- 525 I think is pretty obvious. Number one is out maybe it's nick Lidstrom with. Thank I just love the guys that don't show there is an erotic. They just don't lose their temper. And and Lidstrom. Is beautiful like that is so cool. So reportedly he is retiring tomorrow Kordell Stewart retired today is. Hot out. -- Stroke from what he's been in media and just -- -- of the league for like five years but today announced his retirement. And Ron. Does he have to wait five more years for the hall of fame to be my question. Joba -- is whether it's Joseph wrote a -- today a lengthy one at that about Leodis McKelvin. And -- the bills the stored on the bill's drafting a little bit what was being said about them and then eventually two and now. Where his you know his status. On the rosters seems tenuous I joke. -- got it so well on how to do bear on on this in the Calvin Pace describing. Yeah yeah yeah right on the you know way Leodis McKelvin by. Q if you separate -- heading into the league would. You know one of those guys that was really highly touted eight -- the top quarterback on the board of Mike man out which. Which actually -- the video -- bail -- talking about. About Mckelvin back in 2008 during the senior bowl of that or those. Quote came from and now he was really always have this. This reputation of being someone that had all the measurable you want and had this. Speed had a change of direction ability had very fluid export. Even back that -- always wanted to have a lack of ball skills of that's really just been something that's that's. Bug in all the way through his professional career. And and most notably last season when. I'm not all of those jump ball occasions that it it -- -- came out. Of a short -- stick every single time so it's something that. You know -- -- and -- -- you know this year a lot of people looked and there's somewhat of an afterthought. Little little -- we expect that yesterday had at the first day of -- out here that he was. Among these Hewitt among the first Ian Burke for quarterback along with Stephon Gilmore culture that you didn't take part but. LB Calvin without there and and a little bit surprise. Battles tend to think that the Calvin could have a big impact and and and that's what we're seeing -- so I bought this scene from boom to that. -- you know yeah I would be guilty of thinking of of him as an afterthought and mainly because last year I mean he lost his spot and you wrote this is part of your story on on the Calvin. If you are just that Rodgers like he just wasn't playing defense at all anymore. And with him drafting another corner and on again McGee is maybe not one step toward the waiver wire at this point -- his injuries and stuff but. Still I I thought if -- you can't practice yesterday that -- Williams and and Gilmore are your starting corners. Yeah that's what I -- a -- of -- but. You know -- going to get some first came out I heard all on -- you guys yesterday in -- he definitely did get. Well -- and or you know -- former Calvin but still. You know Mckelvin being in there they're giving him every single opportunity through. The show that you want and a waste of the eleventh overall pick back in 2008. And now they -- you nobody except that it kind of in passing and in past press conferences and saying you know he's going into account for year so it probably gonna have a good season but. All right it has some people that are. Close to the quotes an organization over there that that it confirmed -- picture you are expecting maybe they wouldn't be surprised -- -- book about have a more productive your yet. They want -- they wanted to see what. If there's anything what they are -- that the contract year. The question I'd have to that thinking I mean it it certainly is is is all the sports. At least professional sport to think of a guy. Being more motivated. -- in the in the war whatever it takes. Going into contract years livelihood is at stake a big contract. In the offseason should he have a good year. So I give all that. But if we've got to get onto it fundamentally. Is not good at tracking the ball in the -- making plays on the ball. And at the point of impact but. How is he gonna get better at that just because at this conference here. Yeah I did it seem like it's either one at that well things are either you have it or you don't and -- and he hasn't really shown that a lot in his career so. If he doesn't improve dramatically then it's gonna be gravy for the bill because they have you know. You know five competent quarterback in their opinion. In -- Robert had a great day on Tuesday and and he's someone that's -- a long way for being a have a profit. You're you know obviously they have -- Williams who they're really I had him. And Terrence McGee whose state is still they still think highly of that well. Though it. If he is able to turn around switched. Felt like it very well might not happen. That at the very least it's a lot for his it's special teams -- which is which he has been very good at minus is. It all -- notable fumble -- the New England game years back but. Of the -- he's been very good on special teams -- -- about it you know they're just. Trying to give him every opportunity they can't. It's you you don't take that next -- and -- -- not exactly the same case but I would liken it to. I've been built kicking the tires on trying to work a couple years ago. Just to see if they can draw out that that little bit of potential but it's also early on in his career. If if you were called in his rookie Steve Leodis McKelvin its second game -- you know. And and he picked off two passes that -- or what -- touchdown. It seem like he would get you know the way you finish that out the way he was very solid operatives in like you've got to take that back. That belief gonna stop what -- and even get cut short the third game when he broke -- that you and some would argue that that. Might have been the biggest street about your career got derailed what. They the built in oh with a guy with that try to ask what are the net net trying to jumping ability and and are. Exclusivity. I wouldn't doubt that they're going to try and read how would -- are trying to pitch and you're pumping out. Of course that chiefs quarterback is on his team now. But I don't I've never been inclined to release dogma Calvin I think with this. I I respect the broken like point. Because a guy whose problems seems to be. Reacting to the ball instincts trusting his instincts coaches are certainly tell him telling them what to look for -- -- the time to make the break. Dude you've got the athletic ability don't be afraid. Take that chance once in awhile you're you're good enough to. To cover yourself to cover those mistakes if they end up being mistakes don't worry about it's so much my sense about quarter. Is and people say this -- mean that's the that's the key thing for a guy who has the tools that this guy. Appears to have maybe the leg injury. And by the way that he's never he's he's always been you know sort of dog by by the fans whether it was what happened in New England. That what happened was property. After that like you know there there might be a bad taste in his mouth about that but. I just think confidence is always so important and in this guy whether it's because he's been hearing about just -- Lacking is for a first round pick or that his team as a -- whatever it is with a guy who has the ability. Of this guy you'd like to thank the rest of it will -- so I have no problem with the bills you know giving them another walk and I'm glad they haven't given them a new deal. But there's no he -- I I try one more time yeah. But all make sense of an address that is the skill and and you you know you can't know it's at the opener in conine that before it broke his leg is one thing is when the New England fumble happened at a I have the wrong year. I think that's right. I interpret their but I I think. The reaction that the fans had to him on that play in and what Mike mentioned the the law and mass that happened like in and don't defacing property. Mayor really did mess them up for awhile but I don't commit excuse for the guys I -- -- good play in the ball and he's got to be better -- a ball is gonna have a job in league. But. It sounds to me Joseph like what you're writing years that the bills are trying to sort of -- stars. And out if yes and -- -- get rolled downhill little bit maybe you pick up some speed. Yeah and you know all you alluded to the New England game and and you know maybe that messing with that in mind a little bit you know that -- and might have been a a lingering. Taste in his mouth and he had a long time to think about it I mean the last time he played a game. Beat. From what September 27 2009 and many had to wait until. August of 2010 ticket back in the game actions will eat you never know what kind of -- psychological thing and psychological effects and I'd. I'd be willing to argue that quarterback as one of the most psychologically happy position of the game. You have to have. Ridiculously. Cold demeanor about watching -- back Q and the fact that you know it -- get one -- -- duke. Then you have to have a very short memory that the that the term acute block recorder but it's absolutely true you have to have that type of mentality. Well you're it's just going to be a mental game for your whole career the battle are able to forget that and maybe that the case with Leo that I'm I'm not sure I could really. Talk to him too much about that but. I do know that. In every interview that and that I have with them in the past look at your first though. He volleys allude to the fact that he just need to get get a hand on the ball. And needle in India that he's there -- go there that it needs to make -- double duty that part of it is. Lingering resolving figured that though. While there's a lot of different things that probably don't mind right now and and they especially in the project you're still. -- so I've what you Mike I mean I'm totally on board with them giving him another look to see if there's anything Blackberry do your due diligence. Meaning guy that -- that we they have all the problems sideline but he. I I stand there with with Chris Brown worked well although back mark level that he writes for the bill digest. We just we just marvel at the type of athletic ability that I have in practice practice setting. It's just when you get in the game that you get. And you know you need to keep your outlook and the and it it's important to -- because yet but what else. Joseph thank you -- -- talkative. Joba -- again the article were talking about on Mckelvin is that WGR 550 dot com. Mckelvin the two highlights of his 2011 season probably. Hours would be this would be these two. An interception against Brady in that exciting win early in the season with a great play. People remember Lawrence's interception alive George Wilson. Made a great play -- Mckelvin had won I think early third quarter but in Berkshire. When it was exactly over the middle cut in front of receiver and -- radio off. Great play in that game so we're talking about ball skills that's the Newton football jargon for it. And that was an example of a guy capable in that area. Any -- upon return touchdown against Denver. That made the score 107 bills bills were losing that -- Tebow and Denver 73. Mckelvin scored on a return in the bills and on the blowout. The Broncos so. Yeah let's get some coaching done here guys got. Skills. Part part of it is not just. The immediate -- is that just confidence. It's also understanding the game. Understanding football intelligence understanding. What to look for that the keys that comes with -- experiencing that you'd better. And that he'd better trust his instincts is he got older so. Maybe it's never too late. They are pretty well often in opposition are. Are pretty deep they would like Joseph said -- man who would be gravy. For them at this point if if if they were. Find a way to kind of plug into reclamation project because he was it was it was it was done it wasn't a play. In seventh trumpet -- problem so. You know -- and to -- it was pretty well aren't. You know whatever his struggles are with -- voice almost they can do form you know the balls in the air you -- economic planet. Think those plays that Joseph writes about specifically from last year. Where he got burned. I mean these were all right he was what he was right -- the receiver you know an even walking back and just didn't. It it it's got to be a lot harder than this means running at speed athletically and coordination wanted to do be watchful put into the. Up at all. And you'd expect it be great if you caught it but now just what. We'll talk about this. News. Nicholas Lidstrom. Reportedly. Being ready to retire from the NHL. Shortly. The Pro Bowl news all. Government -- told. What's. The Pro Bowl is staying. For at least one more year the players wanted it. The way this story reads the players want a last chance. To make good on the Pro Bowl respecting the tradition. That the bonuses were already going to stay. So they're not doing it for that but. Earlier it's the players. Impetus the the impetus is from them that the -- day for at least one more year will be in Hawaii. Late January 2013 after that all bets are off. -- yeah I know what will be dropping out anymore. You won't have the eighth best running back -- on the list of rushing leaders on the team anymore bastard sizing the record books. With which bills have made the global don't have that anymore. The game's going to be it's. It's on now it's on. Actual. Football there. Hitting -- trash talking -- how old steel excluding. Ours from the two teams that are competing we miserable they won't below other. That's the right. I come a little bit of the probable been canceled all that well respected it. Right there's not an event in sports on. -- -- You care about it that much well. That you let that you need less about that yeah. Yeah there's no sports event that serve once in. Never watch again have. Lidstrom has reported retirement. Who do you have the most respect for. In sports. Doesn't have to be your guide your own team. I would guess that probably isn't it might beat nick Lidstrom. Seems that everybody respected them. I mean their biggest rivals -- that would have been it was different teams along the way and players. It's a nice legacy.
