Training camp still a little less than two months away -- safety George Wilson. Is with me now Bulldog is out sick today by the way everybody. I George is Mike nice to take some time out for me thank you. They might no problem without penalties. Lest some we talk to you you were just done Rachael Ray any. But any new leads along these lines George. No -- go right there there's to a football right now. Okay well what about being on the field like you are this early and it's not the the first run of the news. You feel like this is all necessary and good that it's so much of a year round thing or would you like to have. More time off this time a year. -- are doing what the changes in the industry BA and the new CBA with the two policies and his. You know have been helpful salute all the players right now -- be able to go back to school and finish up degree. You know and an awful split some time to see what might interest them opt out of football window Tom to look -- too -- and you know we haven't time to be able to come and train together the team and and also have -- days. MB over the you know work a strict and aircraft in the more controlled environment you know would basically not on the pounding. And that physical aspect of this more mental lectured you or your arm and no word alarm but proper communication to your teammates and the so right now it's more mental right now on the practice it and it is it. I'm guessing George to that point that given all of the the talks serious talk this offseason about. About the the physical told that the game takes in and lawsuits and all these things. That it's a thing that you're really more focused on May be then before that. You you're you're maybe thinking more are you about just. What kind of a whole again using that word it's all it's all taking on your body in your brain specifically. Yeah I think it would all the research and a lot of the other testimony did you know former players are put out because you know how they're feeling. You know once they left the game -- definitely think it'd make guys more of the current players more modern although. -- -- weren't sure that your body and it takes a look at the game actually does well in north end of the day this is personal decision that. Each and every year you in a real player makes. You know to play this game nobody's making those -- make this do anything you know this is something we will we want to go to the we'd love to do something we enjoy doing so. So this is something that you know we have to look. We would take ownership of because of you know because -- that it is that we may have played this game. On the other hand you know now there's inflammation is actually coming out because of the research that being blown -- as you know. More than that about five years ago inflation was an acceptable you know we can have -- do researching and knowing what the damage you know. To a to a brain about playing the game over an extended period of time so you know what their -- -- become an out can -- more educated decisions about. You know if they wanna continue -- how much longer they wanna continue to play. Very interest thing and certainly a story that is not going away any time soon news today that -- lawsuits are going to be consolidated by the former players that are so in the league. George Wilson -- with me here on WGR -- Mike show. George how about the the changes to the defense. I don't I think may be the extent to which the bills' defense has been. Made over by the formation. Is being overstated a little bit -- you guys we knew there were 43 alignments. Last year but but for yourself as a defense of back to what's different this year. You know -- like you just mentioned you know there was gone for real -- a year ago but it just the mentality and approach. The planned to be a completely different you know when you've -- -- brute force came -- a portrait -- -- Good medically you know we have you know the core group of guys that were here last year. Back with the cooking here and there are not a -- Acquisition. Are created in especially. The -- alarmed and it goes at some past pressure. You know to our defense you know that that's the best of the dimensions it did I actually just changed the most you know as a -- Maybe we'll see and you wouldn't be able to see everything I'm able to watch Mario and Emmitt and -- -- Marco multi age and you know you go. The pressure -- -- deal with the quarterback can make a -- liquid could create even though we're united paired right now occurred you know you see the quarterbacks haven't made quick decisive. Grows. And you know that's gonna always couple good defense where you can amid a mile of the quarterbacks come in the pocket and make him get rid -- In the gazillion of defenders an opportunity get his mop on Japan -- George you've been on the team for a long enough for me to think I can ask you this question. Do you think here you are liberty and the -- sounds the same in like now you think you have a team that's ready to win and these are very exciting times do you think it's harder. For a team that hasn't won for so long. Two to breakthrough because of that fact that you haven't really enjoyed as a group and maybe. You develop a sense that like things are gonna go wrong at some point the -- to fight against. -- that think you definitely have those challenges because put our own for a long time now. You know where there's always been optimism in the -- you have always -- optimism and training camp and start the season off well we've got knocked a compressed but in the past but. You know it always goes back to when it works its value team who was armed and you know when you've been -- him for a long period of arms and arms the bulk. When neighbors decrease in the -- Becomes their right behind it is here we go looking. And so that's where you know ultimately the mentality has to change where you know you're not gonna start saying -- regal looking into -- view what cannot do to help. You know. In a -- You're back on the right track and that's what each and every individual guy asked -- to him as we continue to work together played together we can be a very competent and they came true which. You know what -- or two Kate who would those moments dual but you know certainly no substantive bill we have global come -- -- change not just not anything -- There's other coaches can do to coaches in just put us in the right position with a there's there's the players and and you know we have to just stay together or those models we can't help but doubt creep incur. You know when things blow rot you know we have had this same mentality you know when things on little nobody could -- -- Uga coach of the. And because you're such. It's a Smart guy in the -- Sully talks about two the senator is he calls you. Of of the follow up on that just I'm I'm a native I'm forty years old have been here forever Bulldog is the same always Snyder today. He's over the meego and we. We we know how the city sounds in the community sounds when things start to go wrong there's like it there's a fear of winning almost that that you hear in. In fans like. That people start to panic a little bit and I I predict this year for the bills that. If there is a misstep early on that it's gonna sound -- crazy. If if you as a player turned on the radio during that -- to sound -- on ridiculous do you I don't know but. I I think you know you have this great fans support here -- might have to fight against the way we get. When. Where were sort of expecting a lot and it just doesn't come right away that -- Yahoo!. Yeah yeah it's sort of leader you know you know being around here long enough fire. How a clear view -- perspective on the content between no organization and our community and so. You know there's been so we used by the that would optimism has been that if an extremely outgoing and all season and it they had training camp and the start of the EU and only comes. You know the wind has been let out of this -- and ended up -- OC that ended up and disappointment no place else -- And so you know we've got to understand it and it it it in the fans have every right to be brokered. They're always talk about what's going to have been will be victory after what really happened. But if you're in the -- the same result -- slightly while we continue to get our -- public you know but that would. Make Buffalo Bills fans you know most passionate -- is regardless of what happened previously they always come out support. And you notebooks. As the team could be able to win them over. Completely you know not just when we're doing glued but you know -- the mobile OR and B did you know we're on those. -- form of our expectation -- -- to give something to cheer about one piece of debris to be fighting about on the work. On Monday morning to talk about what you coworkers and so. We know that all starts -- -- and those of the players we have to get the job done at the end of the day. George Wilson my guest to two questions George if if you -- them -- some of that history of the bills that involves you. And firstly I'd love to hear you tell the story of how you got switched to defense of back from from wide receiver was it. Something that you expected to have happen even while you were playing college football or toward the end of your career nor -- they were drafted. Just dumb can you tell the story of how you ended up playing defense. Yeah you normally would definitely work unexpected you know you know is gone and Kumar is coming off my third year. As alarms -- you know and in Brazil and bill all trees -- to -- -- -- -- Their current government's seven you know you know was still -- second year of coaster wrong steps here in Carmen buffalo. And so -- alarms in the -- -- -- up pretty quick. You know with the draft peeks in -- and creating -- and with you know hot salary -- -- got to make it extremely difficult to -- rubio staying on the team as a wide -- and so. That policy and -- along came to me and asked me. Without willing to. Technical move to safety because he appreciated my marching force adults who demolished all -- worked at it. You know that you will perform all that the players the right Mbeki he transitioned -- -- group of bacon so he told me about his experience. And you know they gave me some some encouragement and -- and tired of making the transition but you know they didn't promise anything but an opportunity and that's. Are we to really explore -- and in light but the chance and you're not made the most of the opportunity and and I've got an opportune got a chance despite nine games this season in 2007. And they actually. Gupta saved my career and the strain in my career and now here I am. You know you know probably six years later right -- -- -- -- full conversion. To the position and I don't I don't think you can pay -- to go back to -- outfits are about third enjoy. The challenge he did in all it is present week in week out in how much rather preferred. Being the one delivering the blow record and receive. Yeah I bet the the fact that this change happen during your NFL career while with the bills I had forgotten. On what were you a tough sell at any point I mean that it sounds good to -- right away. Yeah yeah absolutely you know you know even though you know coached. Present a new opportunity he didn't ask me what my shoes and look at this very moment was in his office. He gave me about a -- to think about it -- will my mom my brother my agent that. In not just looking at I'm just gonna come thinking about you know -- -- wide receiver inside yet to really keep the playing field. That expressed a team that -- Medicaid which had never touched down there. You know I just about two months so maybe this opportunity did have been waging war and you know just -- you don't say. Try to get better pumpkin day in and day out. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- And those are really trying to make the best of the situation or not. That's -- abolished ought to do. If we have one more minute that's about all I haven't of this cute my last question and -- be about that game. We talk about great times in bills history all the time and that game is if there's a dilemma. Because it was super memorable and I'm sure there -- there until the last play really really fun. Absolutely what what do you do it I don't know if you're the type to think back on your career but if you are what do you do with that night. Man it's there was so. It was so low because. You know -- Monday Night Football game in the -- in the long con them. You know I -- buffalo and you know there was. So many fans out there. Pregame -- -- that it concerts. And you know it was it was what you -- bemoaned being noble for the game and you know. Atmosphere inside the stadium during the -- will be among that -- because there was a lot of big plays on defense and special things. And you know everything we're going I'll wait for it you know the cowboys are able to -- them they'll get them back from all the turnover and in the book -- modular from a -- critically Garfield go -- it took all this button and a way to called air out of the stadium and so that would make. Big gains so. And -- And a group of what type of atmosphere as did the Buffalo Bills -- -- talk about you know we have to. There's that the -- -- I feel -- Think at that period that we as players want need to try to recreate with. Our play on the playing field you know of the -- gains led led exuberantly -- -- -- -- -- -- you know the field again. You -- week -- Oprah there's a big and out on the -- performance. -- the -- something to be excited bit about this from good to be. You know enthusiastic about so you know a couple of schools create an environment for the -- can be adequately express the. George Wilson George it's delight to talk to you thanks for your time again. I thank you always a pleasure to welcome.
