Put it and turn -- in some kind of fun for the local racers a little contest we started called the fast track top. -- with all the local tracks that we cover here on the show. We wanted to give some of the drivers an opportunity to see how they stack up with drivers and other tracks both dirt and asphalt. So we put out there and if any driver wanted to registered they beat. Eligible for the contest and all we had to do. Was that once they signed up. I sent them out aid our brand new WGR fast -- DKL. And then we would track where they how they ran. At the local -- this season and they get a point value on based on where they finished in their divisions feature race. And also depended on how many competitors were in that race -- in their feature race each week after local track. Well we've been doing the contest now since the end of April and early may and the one driver that's been dominating the standings. As been running weekly in that are sportsman division at both the -- -- speedway on Friday night's. And the Martinsville Speedway on Saturday nights he is the driver of the blue -- potatoes. Eight -- exports and just in sharp and he is on the line here this morning just in good morning. -- It has been not a pretty good season for you know visits to Victory Lane but some great -- is upfront money -- top five and top ten runs and both your tracks this year Justin. How would you describe your season so far today. We had a very good start to hear that car was well prepared for the start of the year and but -- we got a couple struggles the last couple weeks and got Barack Friday but. To -- are back together and -- ready to bolster Mexican against. Of course this year kind of a step down for each tried her hand a modified racing in a fortunately. You may have gone through at least they have the Dutch half a dozen engines over the last couple seasons they've made a step back to sportsmen. Kind of a Smart move for you they'll probably helped to get some confidence back and price feels good to be running back up front again. Yeah there's -- and I haven't -- the racetrack again a lot more people are hanging around like or aggregate time this year spend a lot less money but. It just so competitive -- -- modified division it's hard to catch up to these guys they've been doing it for the past couple years and not. We got to just get on our program truly great motor. At what point. Was it during the season or during the offseason when did you you come to that Decision Day you know maybe we need to take a step back here and reevaluate what did you really start to think of that. I'll put -- of the year there were really struggling and we are not and not much fun but. We actually started kicking it up a bit at the end of the year modified got a couple top ten finishes among our top five -- -- into the year but. We just -- financially and there's in the city he moved out. And it -- Libya paying off Felix said -- some good runs and a good confidence booster and I'll tell you what just and that the sportsman division that both the ring incidental and mayor bill very competitive. And very stacked two divisions that have had lots of cars. Miracles always had big numbers right at the gate and now even that the sportsman division -- rancid bill. We're seeing some of the -- car counts of the season up there around 2425. Cars a lot the competition for you out there on the track. And it it's hard to. Stay motivated especially through the middle of the race when also needs -- also eleventh there's there's a lot of good cars so Perry and other way to try actually bend its. They're fast and everyone does their homework especially guys like -- and the MacPherson and Dante's and mayor bill they're fast every night and battery go on caucus you know they're coming if you add up to the -- you know those two cars are common at the end of the night. Well Justin have for race fans are -- Ricky how do you get in involved in the sport in now how did you come to be a dirt sportsman driver. All right started or or I grew up -- my dad grabbed his generation forever it seems like and I started help and -- that Doug Gordon car -- was -- I'm -- right now and modified when I was -- and as grinding tires. Do and set ups and then my dad and happened to -- -- -- -- had a casino with a one night and he bought me or are -- -- -- restarted Grayson. Though is that -- -- -- did get hit the jackpot Wannstedt to buy this on a racecar it's a pretty cool way to get into the sport. Yeah I was I guess so that. Good leap forward in Norton and we've not been hooked ever since we did four years -- -- I'm not -- your exports and now we're modify an hour back to us fortune. How much did you learn -- -- the model lights out for race and they're familiar they're finally a school a scaled down dirt modified. How much from what what you -- drive in those for a few years didn't a lot of that transfer over to drive in the big cars it was a kind of like I have not learned writing a new type a bicycle. -- I think there are a lot more -- terrible compared to the the street stocks and force owners -- they are a third open wheel car and are very loose race started driving up such a small wheelbase and they're alive they're very overpowered for the size in the car that there. Just in sharp local racer joining us here in WGR fast -- Justin you'll be. Obviously in the championship on both dead -- and bill and mayor -- this season trying to win the track titles at both. A once we get past the regular season now how much do you plan to do some traveling once we get in the fall months though with the dirt sportsman series. -- plan as much as they can I want to rolling wheels voluntary this year and then. Actually had to get talked go to going to Canada to a lot makers rained out last -- a miracle -- the -- trying to talk you know on. Well we plan on doing dirt tour and now whatever shows again that up maybe it up a couple ROC sportsman races. Whatever is available on the weekend in September and October. And what about their the rest your future and you recently got engaged and on what what's the future for unity that you plan on. Run into or -- getting back with a modified ranks someday soon. Not unless I get a get sponsored by -- that they'll vote now it was time to step back and it it was a big financial thank you gotta. Get married or in the house since so exports and a good classic he won a race or for awhile it's not that expensive so. All their pre order modified January yelled it real life stuff she had to deal with. Yeah I've got to take a reality check sometimes they -- And out you know at the -- he talked about started out brought grain and tires for of the Gordon's out. You know I saw you do -- this Friday night for your own car how much does support you have back there in the pits. We have a lot like all my -- is -- now he's recovering at home -- Small surgery at start of the year but we've backtracked and few weeks my dad Serbia we we got -- -- off the board now he's been there every week government step brother -- you know helping. Actually can't -- held on Saturdays. He's in the -- but that I eloped to help but I always do -- your tires I can never ask someone else to do that's an art of the job that isn't.
