I know I was long I was really wrong hi I apologize for getting anybody's hopes up. I really did believe in the bill this year and it is just not happening. It's interesting. That by our numbers this year they've been pretty much opposed to the most inconsistent team in the league. Because they've been horrifying. -- bad in two and a half games. And really good two and a half games. But the bad has been worsened the credit. And I and it's just nothing's working right the offenses and good. Defense is -- good. This was by far the worst defensive performance of the year by any one team and anyone game. But might -- be like. More than that -- it would hit it it feels like it was all time bad I mean 300 yard pass or 300 yards rushing by 621 yards. Why don't have a bomb. I don't have right now in front -- -- all the single game defensive ratings and our stats for every game going back 21 years like -- tell you that my little spreadsheet. Highlights. Any game with the defense goes over 70%. In other words -- 70% were give such 7% more offensive. Success that you would usually city and there's only one game this yourself are like that and it's upload this. So. What I mean you -- you figured -- -- I'm curious there's. You might imagine you know doing misuse this -- Urgency and intensity lot of people are talking about the scheme and -- seeing him not with seeing him in the front for not getting the job done. You know what he had to say about just the individual performances of the front -- market that seems to be. My -- the biggest let down the whole thing. Right well I mean look everybody talked about Demorrio Williams certainly doesn't look quicker guy should be getting a gazillion dollars. They had about an average path for a this year. What's really batted in the run different been horrible. We absolutely positively horrible the worst run defense in the leak. Terrible up the middle. And that's what's strange because. You know. To me what's surprising is what Mario Williams not looking like that where money and more Kyle Williams and -- so there -- -- looking. Good because. Those are guys who have really you know one had a really good track record the other one had a you know pretty good couple years there and and -- -- 13. Even on his second season yeah I mean a good rookie year was could college is a very talented guy. What happened. We've lost your jobs that are. A minute put that on Holmes Steve we can reestablish that because I'm I'm. Enjoying hearing him talking about all of this and I think I think our audience. Would be -- will establish I was we've had issues from time to time that sounded like something completely different the way that. That erupted but we've gotta back you will get this re established here talking about the interior that why does that look. I'm guilty as anybody being kind of ago football -- area in thinking like. You know I'm excited about Mario Williams it completely or and to get as excited about. The impact he could have on Dolly's you know I've watched him in college and -- -- this guy's going to be middle. And on every level the linebacker level have been pretty beaten optic. Long runs -- -- short rides. Erin how about blitzing vs not blitzing I feel like we've had this conversation at some point every year may be multiple times it would be doing this. Because the bills are doing very little -- it. And you know we see a team like Houston in late. That and certainly the reputation for doing it does plenty of it I was asserting -- or you joined us here that. Teams that have the reputation for doing it. Can live off of that -- is that they have to -- would still be good at it but. Team's thinking they're going to get bullets I would think would be advantageous for defense to. Well I mean I don't know much about. Or that you can't chart. How often -- -- think it will be let's thank you can only check how often they actually are -- -- up -- think. I mean -- you can't really compare buffalo used his Houston throwing a different scheme they're running a 34. They tend to bring five. Which is split but not like of people it I mean there's -- two category you know it's like three categories of -- -- -- with the -- unexpected guys we still would perform. There's some. Bringing find time we -- the report -- -- more often report threes and they're bringing six and seven. So you're -- buffalo. I don't have the numbers for this year but buffalo last year was one of the teams that -- less often than most teams in the leak. And when they blitzed with five they would know better than they were when it would look for when they brought six or seven they were pretty gut. Why they don't do that more listen if you -- you're gonna leave your your secondary in trouble it's everything is is given -- If they feel that there cornerbacks and safeties can can -- that handle that one on one. Didn't you complaints by it. You know with two with a one rookie as could he look as good as he looks so far in -- second year guy. You know I don't know if they have their first to say we can lead these guys on an island in the sense intercept. Put -- zone behind it but usually you're gonna put his -- behind me you wanna drop a couple of defensive -- back at -- more guys in the zone and you know I mean. Listed there are a lot of people who would much rather just get get pass rush with their front more than blitz. -- K I mean. There are a lot of great teams great defense in the last few years that the based on the idea -- if you look at it tougher for you to put seven guys in coverage. That's how the Tampa Bay defense was built that have Chicago's been built for a long time that's how Detroit is built right now. And he should have the line to do it. And -- definitely although they went a little bit more. That you might expect but they do a lot of really interesting. The giant to about interesting schematic things with defensive back -- thing. Which is does NASCAR package that uses the three defensive and -- I used to be defensive end. And we've moving guys around or sometimes even a defense that will be almost in a middle linebacker standing up type role they do a lot of interest in little schematic. Do you think he's -- he's the -- defensive coordinator there it is awfully familiar. -- thanks thanks for that. Get it out where we're at we're at. No we're revisiting that in whether they just how revisionist is is it to to leave the good old days of very fuel that stood that -- Interventionist I would -- when they let him go that they should have hired him or at least considered him for the job they improved when he became the interim head coach he's got a very good track record. I thought that when when the giants were Rodham. When the giants were -- at the end of last year before they hit the playoffs I thought that the the criticism of it was a little unwarranted. If you're talking there you know it makes cents. The young cornerbacks. Pulling your strings right -- -- in the front four paper like I've got four hell raisers that makes all the sense in the world. You know it's not happening so like I had and I don't know -- want now right I mean how you're. I think that the problem with this team right now is not that they're not bringing it up past pressure. I mean they're not bringing hundreds of that pressure they're bringing like average -- pressure. The problem is they can't stop the run at all right which means you can run all over the right and maybe that that balance -- maybe the problem is. That. You know they're gonna play nickel against your path information and he'd just run on them and if you look on our site if you go back to last week. -- -- Which is our offensive -- A column -- last week sucked -- them like I'll look at the patriots stopped the bills a running game. And this week and a look at everything content. Because we covered three lines every year and it just so happens to the lines were covering this your New England at San Francisco and they definitely have built back to back we were planning on this. No matter how many yards they ran out. By you know they played nickel personnel against the patriots which everybody does because the patriots are gonna come out there with -- -- three wide. The -- tight end but the tight and to really receivers. Blake you know so so maybe part of it is -- -- lead nickel personnel that's easier to run on by. But not the way to pay tribute to the -- deported under -- I'll just opera. With a broad yet happy pressure is not the problem right. Got through the -- they played they played regular personnel most of Sunday against the 49ers linebacker on the field. And I I guess what I'm getting that is that the four guys up front are key to stopping the run to. And right at that part of their job they're not doing right and in the case so I don't think the problem is like I said I don't have a number right now on pressure. No I haven't fully pivot table while -- -- whatever but I have to this year so far. But based on factor -- play. They're bringing a reasonable about a past pressure but the problem is those guys are part aren't stopping the run. And here's here's the thing I don't know how impressive the linebackers are. I mean. One linebacker is second year guy the other would vote is. -- is not really really well established Ky eight and me -- he's yeah he's yeah I mean it Barnett everybody likes Barnett by. -- You know this is not a team would really good life. No that's right and going into the year or if you know the hope was that front four was -- amass whatever deficiencies they had back there. But that's right it was not a strong looking group even even as excited as fans were when Mario Williams a Mark Anderson showed up. You can look at the linebacker this kind of wonder like he's boy I don't know where where we have there. They drafted. A guy in Sydney Carter that maybe they were hoping would at least paying only give them some depth but that's not happening Nigel grant him a fourth round rookie. 800. If he injured what the -- they just -- him like -- not pretend to all the fifth round pick you know it's not. Hide it outside yet that's not the you don't like deck yourself in the -- -- -- -- pick dramatic could think it. Especially on a team that is selecting the linebackers could really write I mean he didn't big thing is the one type of the receiver that they're doing a good job stopping I bet. But I think that that's more or. -- -- londoners well animal well well. The Davis went over on cards on them. And how well he stopped him out. But the opera -- basis -- -- doing reasonably well against tight ends. He if you consider who they've played -- I -- remember they played in the last few weeks two of the three best tight end in little -- -- you'll want to know yeah a little bit of leeway. -- -- bomb it just to wrap this up we spent all this time just on the bills' defense which -- I'm I'm glad for. With them kind of on the side generally speaking. In your rankings the defense is that blitz more often are they generally the or specifically. The the higher ranking units or is there no relation. The mix. It's the -- this year this year in Pittsburg is not -- typing usually Pittsburgh -- tie and -- were trying to tie and the jets are red -- and other teams. That run complicated blitz schemes result sent five guys would also -- complicated ways. Chicago also generally ranked high -- -- -- generally only wants to rush with a -- -- for. Seattle this year -- one of the poppy that is that the defense that generally Italy Poland with a truck for. Philadelphia for the most part these days is definitely that much. It's really index. One is not better than the other K which one is better free you'd depends upon your personnel. Game planning your opponent properly. And whether you have defensive coordinator music could designer of. Now. Well I think you're out there where if it were easy to figure out organically. And the defense frankly the Arizona defense is -- is not great is a little bit overrated by people right now. -- it's not -- a spectacular defense with a good. So this is not a ridiculously un un winnable game here and they say if they don't -- -- pressure on content and hit it you know there really trouble. And by the way Arizona has also build running game right now. They're talked to running back you're injured. OK so all the problems we've seen from the bills' defense. Should not be apparent decide and that they are and how that's really a problem. Right Iberia yeah aides are saying that about the Arizona running backs until we either got to be. A lot of bills for -- I think you know who's Brandon Bolden pretty good I don't wanna hear about it forever art. Everything is branded salt and placed behind India the patriots slide with an offense where you have to go nickel personnel because right now they're gonna pass on you. That's not the case in Arizona. And you know had the patriots have a good record with undrafted free -- settlements. A cable William Powell who knows who this guy is. Okay. Stephens-Howling.
