With wanna go back. Is doing a fabulous job. Except for tickets dated debt. -- special get a guy like that well known to call between them long enough to get a program got any did just that and I'm not the prize at all you got to do a great job or for the bills the and apparently going to be spoke our the guy yet that you know how to put together these -- -- Great great leader he's he's inspiring motivating. Is that he's a man to man so it is that the Arctic level. It -- not have any regrets in buffalo haven't done world. -- I know you've been at Syracuse since 2004. So you know the program was was obviously in some pretty deep depths before. Our coach from -- took over. Can you talk about what what what that experience was like to go through and and what. Maybe special qualities he has that help the turnaround where you guys have been to a bowl game to the last three years. Well no what I got on here yeah yeah you know painted and it's just like everywhere you got to have talent and and we started -- are very -- the process. And we Greg Robinson that a great resume. Obviously -- that it just didn't seem to work out. In part the reason it worked out in the Gallup polls go down and we lost rate right. Who I think single handedly put Rutgers football on the map and they -- accurate vote re right -- A bucket -- -- or get him in the Big Ten because he's the one that really got started there. He was senate that there is -- This double but the thing. So we didn't get that Taliban I don't know the exact record and when document document what they're really really great landed just come from the New Orleans saint he'd been the coordinator. -- took all of Obama has the bottom of the program. Is part of and late at night somebody that they're used to Wear. You know we can take what he's done. And bill that momentum and take it into the future self -- to prop all of experience all the experience is that what he had been working hard BA head coach he just -- -- the opportunity. I had no doubt in my mind exactly comment that we had and they any -- that he proved it. And Kelly yeah I get to make that next step. We'll talk about him a lot of course but before that you go to Darryl with regard to your program. Just what what kind of a job is it to replace a coach you've got the current players to consider recruits. What what is it that you're looking at here in the coming days or weeks. Well in or is it possible that admitted that the great opportunities. North Syracuse football back to its rightful place you know we are but the big east championship. And you know I've got the obviously at the look at -- date -- yell -- -- here we have an offense that broke every. -- and twelve year but follow whatever that all of duration of Syracuse football has shattered born in Pittsburgh game. You know we got the block we will replace we all oh we get down to go to the mixture of the college to college grad but what will ultimately they -- a bill that. And it -- that you felt -- anyway the country's we haven't because coordinator that's terrific. There's I mean if you just want to -- struggled at West Virginia and is he off political -- -- discipline these guys play. And it's estimated that we got some great guys there that obviously so much interest in this doubt and you know January 8 -- late in the game but yet the difference. The deficit. That would come up upon what you do hurt and let -- -- your brain and I wondered that tell you that hope and by the way. We already apple here we did we got -- but he he -- next year and it we're gonna continue to have momentum we're gonna build on it we're gonna move passed through it. I imagine it's maybe a little little bittersweet like congratulations to the guy. That got the job the next level. The positive and you're in there is now the job. It has that appeal that the that the profiles big enough. The programs stable enough that the man -- departing is departing for the NFL that makes it a more attractive looking job as -- -- Hard to get great that I was so happy for -- I'll have articulate I have nothing that bitter at all because I suspect in this country. You get these opportunities. You know I don't open it up autopilot -- you know what every year effort for anyone being that it's great for him so. I've been fortunate to have in my lap three guys have gone on to become an -- vote didn't do it ended in -- -- a great governor about the break out. But it's it is very very active. I love our philosophy a little bit and that meant that I love the culture of the program. So what will -- take on apple that can be pretty darn good future. For whatever reason I liked the idea of it right away. And in try to defend that I found myself saying a few times. I get this feeling he's adaptable. You know if you have these that's super young you know 48. So he's not like. I know right -- go to -- happy about that but. He's not he's not a kid. But I I had this feeling that he. If if you hear somebody paired with analytics. As he has -- Then I just sort of take that I mean. Your open minded. Which you know is. Stereotypical I guess but I take that to mean open minded and here it's in in this article about Syracuse. For a couple years they had this. Or run oriented offense and then changes were made some -- Offense was splashed into it. Daryl gross is referencing the saints. And I think that's what you want your coach to be you want your coach to be. Open to new ideas it's one reason that Lindy Ruff has lasted so long. That when his team was right for one and -- he went to run and -- you know I don't think that's it is nature to do is you know any kind of hockey can play. But Tom. To his credit. He ruled with that mark did that. With the bills you wanna run a no huddle offense. Wasn't mark Levy even that an old man like -- slap in the face for that but they did it.
