I'm 47 yard run. So again on other labs. I don't curry Howard turning A great weekend and and for bills fans maybe many of your making the trip gonna join us in just the second. Russell talk about the current bills bills training camp coverage here on WG are continuing 803055888550. To 550. Talk a little bit today about death. CJ Spiller and his future with a suggestion over the weekend that perhaps the bills might be. Getting calls to trade procedure trade CJ Spiller at some point we have EJ Manuel and how much each place and tonight our web ball. But as I mentioned this week and big weekend under re going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Saturday night the bills play the giants Sunday night. Marv Levy will be among the many former bills on hand of course marks in the hall of fame so he'll be a part of that. But also be presenting on Jerry On Saturday night we'll have that for alive here on WGR markets Howard and Jeremy good morning welcome the show how are you today. Good just great always good to it would usually end with those fantastic fans there in buffalo. I'm rob she'll ask you about Andres career but get to that. When when you get the call and your chosen to be you know Andre says they I'd like you to present meet. Into the hall of fame you've experienced this before what does it mean to you to be the press center for your guys. I I'm extremely honored that he would have to be that and that. He did it in a very unique way by the way at a day or two after he they had gotten had been. And outstanding play in the policy and I received a call from a another. Radio show this one in New York City one interview me about it. And during an interview concave Andre reed and during that interview is when he asked me. If I would service is present her well I I'm tremendously honored. For a variety of reasons just to be adequate to be asked by by and Draper who might have such high regard both the player and as an edited. I suppose. I suppose was feeling pretty good that the chances are you were going to say yes on live radio I'm. But but but the I was gonna say no the yet. So so I don't want you to give away your speech but what. Would you say about Andre reed if someone came up and market coached Andre reed one of the all time greats to say about it. Well first of all I've got to say this. You don't want enormous say in the speech. And needed a lineup I know why they have a different. Method now you don't do it lives. I guess people were going on too long. So what they do now is that underwent a long in her view. almost an hour long and then they edited down the three minutes. So I'm sort of into residency when it happens that they do pull out like it. I apologize I'm remembered that this. This been done before markers is the first time the trend that I don't I had that is. This is if it. It I don't know what the Sierra it is very recently but it is as I know no it's not the first here early on this. Wait yeah I guess I guess I understand that some of the present as over the years. When a little bit long and it made the ceremony longer but so what would you say about then getting back to that well I haven't talked certain about his great great ability but. In Indy. Upbeat. Great team player all of that his statistics were fantastic third most prolific receiver in the league at that time that he retired. And it it never mean mean mean guy he was never you've got to throw me the ball more tight. The ball was spread around a lot to some other great ones like blocked them and BBN Mets wires. And those fellas but. Andre the think about and as a player that I remember. Certainly work his ability. go across the middle I don't think there was at least one of those the first real slot receivers in the game. And his ability go across the middle against those strong. They put these that are gonna blast them with just unparalleled. Second thing I I've never seen anyone anyone anyone. Who was better at doing one thing that is so important among Murray's favorite body to give his nickname of Know what to talk a lot yards after catch. It was amazing. a ball then taking it a beat after catching that twelve yard pass and turn it into of fifty yard touchdown. Are it was so good at that particular aspect of the game what what made him so good at that. You know and no one would have noted stated the year that he with seven picked by the bills that year was about higher around in the the multiple choices in the fourth round from. Not out of a Nash. National football power Kutztown state. There's another receiver Chris Burke had a good one. At a given that year's draft no one would have dreamed that he would have done that but but Andre had great physical qualities yes leaned hard Enjoyed the game put the practice always seem to be find an invigorating forum and that spread to his teammates. But. He didn't he had at all concentration on the ball work at practice team orientation unselfish. But again. The ability to run after the catch and catch it across the middle I've never seen that anyone. Anyone anyone on parallel that him in those regards. Mark can you talk a little bit about Andrei away from the field means fans obviously know everything you just mentioned they saw him in the games they watch them all the time but they. You know clearly they were around him. In the facility at training camp away from the field do you have that inside had that inside as said coach what do what about Andre away from the game. I say it was the most dependable guy can imagine they did wreck filled up for breakfast every day never late. Never blame someone else never I'll. And he he Timor and it had a good sense of humor the players like him. College teammates to them those coaches. Of course. And an 88 desolate the ideal way to debater no end zone dances nothing of that nature just. Get ready for the next play but. It was he was great to coach always on time as I say always trying to get better wonderful guy the coach. One of the things I was struck Andre was when he reported for training camp he looked in. Peak physical conditioning guy was just physically chiseled. Like and I I thought I thought to meet represented the fact that he was so serious and dedicated about his approach to the job. Yes he was. This offseason conditioning program was always fantastic. one of the lead in this guy I needed you know body fat tests of that I think he had. Really have minimal amount. He was blessed in that regard probably some darned good genes. And so. Yeah but he unity always in great physical condition. Eight by the way through minor nicks and they have been rarely missed with a knee injuries did have a pulled hamstring once but he came back quickly and went back to work again. That was looking at his stats is numbers the other day he missed only three games in his first 153. NFL games and the one year riding at the dubbed really vicious hamstring injury missed all but two games that your I I. They ask you this in the you know the interview for the presentation. But do you have a favorite Andre story or is there a more. And most memorable game and we had to be game in the comeback game is there a favorite Andre game that you would reminisce about. Well you know that I can't say that there is what I and I know you mentioned the great comeback game. I'm very during that that the last twenty minutes a game caught three touchdown gold medallist in pole position. Does it gets up he got the one that put such as the is I remember. We we were down by eleven points at one time out of with a fourth down. Forced down eleven out on the fifteen yard line and not everybody get a kick a field old man but. That we decided right right. Turned to me and pointed to himself like I got a play I got a play I got to play and it was Andre Reid over the middle and they had big. Out of made the grab interpreted the end brought within four points. remember that blades but. I I can't there remember one game more than any other he had so many great ones. While one they're gonna ask for let you go is is about this weekend and how different this is going to be You've been down this road before you got inducted obviously but you've been to a Pro Football Hall of Fame Jim went in in Bruce went in and mr. Wilson went and this gathering will be the first since mr. Wilson passed away this gathering will also include. Jim Kelly who is planning on being there he's fighting. Cancer did you think this will be any different will it feel any different or be any more emotional as all of you gathering in light of those two things. I had a you know they're all emotional of course but usually. I think you read the fine that pretty well. Hard as it will be special would back there Jim and I agree accords were the great connection. And that team. It would him being that there has dominated the others. All the all those guys that preceded Andre in into the hall that'll be there is teammates. Only if there it's always a special weekend I can tell you this. Everytime I'm back there and I get. We sit in the and look out at some of those guys that have been in all since I don't know. The long long long time great. Stars and they always have this glow on their face it like saying really here. And it's it's an awesome experience for those guys and becomes a very close knit group they're going to be. Ninety former. All of payment these present this weekend quite a crowd. it will be hard not to think of mr. Wilson Saturday night Marbury at any point when you're there maybe if you're. Paul absolutely absolutely it only top buffalo bills' players that are going to be there and mr. Wilson. What he meant. that came to those people to the city of buffalo to the game of football will always be remembered and revered. On Sunday night when Eagles take on the giants that is well. By your is enjoying that but also creating instant trivia you your rain and on mine is to parade one mine is on the screen right in front of shall we give our categories and can select share. Well why he's got to play defense is trivial to. Depending on knowledgeable we are about reasonable. You know all I got a little George Washington sitting here doing nothing in the her body I got one of those hundreds. You know I mean when I was throwing them up and my body ready you commercially handing out money training camp it looks. It looks like someone take it right now like someone glued together like You don't have it on you that are real and now. My category is. Andre six all time in playoff. Receptions. School career. Looking for the top ten in career playoff. Receptions. And that's my category pretty good pretty got our our. Gina last night. Moved into a tie for seventh all time in career hits a Major League Baseball history. Who's in the top ten other than how many of the top ten and you name the sides Derek Jeter. My husband dead because they're they're so long dead well we all heard of one half that's one of the long dead very good but Tuesday. Mortimer. John shoes Johnson. You know you'd have to to others you'd really have to be the on to be on this list the man I'd stay in new thank you very much as Aaron number three. Willie Mays. Now actually you've got all except one guy in the top six right Ted buttons just How did you it's probably not I don't know if you're done Jeremy I can see it in your your about the blurt out. incident I could sing it right right there on the here. OK I can get hit he's actually tied for seventh this guy is more well known to the view for the price of his baseball card. Anger junior with McGee now. Expensive most Bible baseball card show it's screaming at the radio right on his way out. Opponent. Is John wild it's making his fourteenth he is just. Outside. Boots in the game. This roadway I still have no way we Israel of course not can this get everything up boots McGhee. on the that's it was a night you ready for the real one he's on the NFL list. Top ten NFL receivers receivers of the football people who could receive a football. Okay top ten I guess playoffs and get that Tom correct he is number seven right behind Andre was number six. Jerry Rice number one. urban. Romp. Of about. Genome project wrong it's. Going Lynn Swann wrong. The Google bombs are Michael Irvin is correct. My fault guide okay carry on like Emmitt Smith Ron. Like things wrong I do Jerry Rice Michael Irvin. Reid and Thomas is we have so far remember two victory for. And 89104234. Think recent 48910. Think the old days. Who's partners. Know. reason to art Harris is thirteenth Hines Ward correct number three. Winds were played in a call for thirteen years so you think like that guys who played for a long time. Let's short and racked Shannon Sharpe Wes Welker number four. Option should know. for they receive number two two you've got number one number three number 4567. And you also missing 8910. Second all time. Active. Active player. What teams got to the plows for the last fifteen years. Patriots. What other team. That right there how many times. Nancy. No AFC. They always make the playoffs sometime their goal is lucky to do it colts' Reggie Wayne Reggie Wayne is number two all time playoff perceptions. Really the end of two. So rice Wayne ward Welker urban read Thomas and 8910 are older ninety's value mentions the Steelers pick another dynastic team. Of sorts. The niners raiders. Raiders. Old guys are you know the color number nine and after him. Tim Brown know. On the raiders didn't older old cliff branch. And number ten. It is another hall of Famer. Got in before Andre. Went to Syracuse. Are on them. You know something good came out of Syracuse holier top ten NFL receivers who. Playoffs missed number two Reggie Wayne number two do play a lot they made a lot of left into Peyton Manning and so he's got a number two way more than Marvin Harrison. Yes. I don't know all the way more in Harrison's surprised that career receptions Marvin Harrison is. Right page. Music thirteenth as it is equally. It wasn't a real number one is through the I think it's militants were on the top football baseball this this time's up very well and I was gonna do the Jeter did the Jeter trivia because it wanted to bring a story that tired. Mike Crist are you aware of the other conflict and a Derek Jeter day. Now yankees came out I think about a week ago would I completely missed story the Yankees came out they announced that Derek Jeter day. Will be held. Sunday September 7 Yankee Stadium. That is opening day in the National Football League night that's terrible that's terrible planning. Why would they do that I don't know. Now in terms of the New but let me ask you this other jets and giants at home like here's part of the reason may the giants are not playing there on my that I football jets home. That's who cares the jets home at 1 o'clock against Oakland and the Yankees game is at. Sunday night Derek Jeter day. The double check their day Sunday afternoon the night games at four I think they're fine schedule. But was at one there's no go to you that you go to if you're if you're Yankee fan you're going to day you know worried about missing the jets raiders do well I think the city might have enough people trouble. On shouldn't be involved but I would pick Jeter for a football game. You could do ball the September 11. 105 game so they're going head up against the opener you know the jets' opener at MetLife and whatever other if you're playing fancy football you know when your phone the jets play raiders. Who cares it's that should I care you go to cheaper. It's thirty years Derek having one day at Yankee Stadium this is that he he's not exactly two years from now. Their having one day and eleven other Derek gee what day the next today. Nobody that they're not having a big ceremony in the speeches and presentations and maybe that they're bringing back some repair will be back and former teammates are gonna this is the big this is at is as big. Send off. You'd gonna bring back. Ruben Rivera now Mariano. Rivera's guy Ruben Rivera Ruben Rivera stole Jeter's glove and got. Traded because. You know historically traded because Jeter's glove and Rivera was Mariano Rivera's cousin news young outfielder and ninety's teams. And he. Stole a Jeter glove and tried to Sally. He tolerated OK I thought it was like this is frank this is the problem I'm gonna have that was why why would choose a football game and on their tutored him like it is Derek today happens on Sunday. And then on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday of that week it's. More Derek Jeter days what do they do it. He's gonna play for the Yankees know what it is this but it's not the same thing at the big ceremony and then later on. They have a homestand against the blue jays in the Orioles in his final game in Yankee Stadium is at number 25 if you had a choice. They're yesterday or his final game would you go to his final game I'd say final game. And final standing ovation for his last pass he walks out of the stadium. Well there's not anything ceremonies that day of us. So that's where that's way better than lacquer did you wouldn't think ceremony is for Rivera's last thing other than they brought Donald Pettit and Jeter came out to the game that was there some kind of ceremony on all of those guys that normally do that there then that's the point fit together its final home game and then the 28. At Fenway is his actual final game correct. It's just that Sunday against the royals for the like priorities of this you know what they're every day yesterday jets and Okajima goes to and they give him a bench made out of baseball bats. Every day is Derek today and their seven other jets games at MetLife stadium this is against the raiders well what the freaking do. I lining if I'm a jets fan I wanna go to game with a gonna win. And the raiders have got a good shot then check when the bills are coming in two point 8030550. Jonas speaking of the jets and we get back we'll check in at camping Cortland will see a geno Smith is faring among other. Items of interest from the AFC east division rivals it is Tuesday. Right yes so we're playing centauri is Tuesday trivia your chance to in the 25 dollar gift cards to send pizza pub and that is good. At either location Miller sport highway or transit road to expiration general contest rules apply. So. Under go to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday night we talked yesterday show. There's no quarterback in the class of 2014. In the Pro Football Hall of Fame in fact. There has not been a quarterback inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame since 2006. Who was that name the last quarterback inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame 6449878. pick a number. Seven will start the seventh caller and take the first correctly answer 64498782. gift card. It not been snapped what's right waits bucket compared to blow up football effects of quite pork buffeted. Many months to recover pet project court yard line geno Smith's neck right now Williams up ground many left. Tina did not have a fun time in his first trip to Ralph Wilson Stadium last year. We're gonna talk that about jets' training camp in a moment Howard Jeremy Matthew with you here on WGR Ross talking about training camp the bills off back on the practice field. Tomorrow at two Thursday at 8 AM and then Friday night is a 6 PM practice the tickets have been distributed for the Friday night practice and then Saturday. They head off to and for the pre season and against the giants our coverage of bills training camp on WG yards presented by UB dermatology west York's leader and skin care. Protect your skin and schedule your annual check. By do you college educated for life by New York's only outlet liquor what's your outlet and T shirt university from the NCAA to every team in every league. When it comes to teachers who got you covered crystal prestige has jets' training camp coverage is there for WFE and their being Cortland, New York. But the jets are training we wanna find out what's going on a geno Smith and the rest of the guys down there for gangrene so. Chris is kind of have to join us this morning on W chair Chris power and Jeremy good morning how are things in Cortland. Pollack you're not yet there are they yet today which. What Italy and yet. It's fortunate rain but we're back with your outlet that today chilly but. I would say the players prefer that over extreme heat of the summer so pretty good shape here. We spend every day talking about how EJ Manuel looks at bills training camp so what two part question. First off how does geno Smith looked at jets' training camp. I think it looks a lot better I think you can you can certainly sell more comfortable in your ilk the first opportunity that. And John is that GM in his first opportunity to go to ripple NFL season and I think he took advantage of that. Starting with yeah it all the way through many can't spend some of the stuff he did on his own it was a story that came out yesterday. Or two days ago Ata talked about some of the things he did on and how we Throw out friends family really just well done you know getting more comfortable playbook. And even looking ahead Q&A lot of film some of the east and they're gonna say this year so the work at sixteenth street there and I. I think early on training camp we see the results on the field. He just looked a lot more comfortable in rhythm and and you know certainly understanding what he's doing out there and one thing I keep telling people it. Last year in the offense was waiting on him the line of scrimmage to get things lined up and figure out where they work. And now I see him waiting on some of the younger guys so things just clicking a lot faster and whether or not that translate that strip late derail the of success remains to be seen. Yeah I wanted to ask you when you look back in year one for him. an outsider to us seem like a bit of a roller coaster ride I mean his highs were higher than EJ Manuel. But I think is lows were lower the when you look back on the year one for how would you describe. And they grow I think you hit the nail on the head a roller coasters definitely good way to describe it. And that middle seat and you guys played the clip from the bill came up there about that was that was in the midst of a really bad stretch and the plates and. And just miserable game ever really that up and district four games in terms of statistics in terms of turnovers. But I think what you young players to come out you know the other side of that and finish up high note and the last quarter to see that last month. I Rex Ryan pointed out the other day had won the better quarterback rating so. He finished on a high note their schedule with a little bit softer toward the end but he seemed to the offense and you. You like to be acquired in who can overcome you know like yet you mention. Indeed the the blows and for him to come out the other end and finish on strong now he was making plays taking better care of the and more importantly winning games. I think obviously have to be a very it's time for the So Chris part to the question is they bring a Michael Vick and I asked about that in a moment but part the question is what's on the line for geno Smith in year two and it is CNN is it. It wouldn't be a maker here already. Or do you think he's going to be their beyond this season no matter what. Well I think it will be on the whether or not he's starter I think you know I would say it. Probably pretty good chance but he needs bumper there I mean the jets are giving him every opportunity yes they brought in Michael Vick. And I think that was that. As the more I think about it I wasn't in love with the move initially but I think it makes sense to check quarterback situation with the bases for a couple of years and by no means is it rock solid right now. But think that dynamic that they set up is. The ball in court he's been getting about 75% in the first team reps here in the early part camp. I think it's his job salute I think the only good Michael Vick is the week one starters you know absolutely bombs in the preceding year. Or Scott or they get injured so I think that they have I think the jets are happy with the way that they want you go out. I think that you're sealed made to operate on the offense side of the ball has more weapons to work with. So I think they set it up on his plate out just a matter of it's sort of a challenge to take it go out there security guy and a key play well you know. This'll be your team going forward. What if this this season gets under way he's the guy going into the season he doesn't play well at the end of September I mean it's New York. Vick is there everybody's going to be you know the minute there's a struggle I'm sure it'll be should victory bit be in. How the jets handle that what kind of time they get geno Smith. I think I really think that's why Michael Vick is here I mean you'd think back to last year even a Mark Sanchez didn't get hurt. In Hollywood it's it would Mark Sanchez and a rookie and you know Smith an unproven guy that so. If there wasn't really that got that concern you if whoever the starter was what it was playing poorly or not at least not turning to a guy who you know permanent sport in the weeks. Michael Vick even at age 34 and so that they spent period and established quarterback we see him out here can't Still run around it's still get the pocket his arm is still extremely strong so. He hadn't played well enough to be a starter somewhere in the over the last couple years but he still more than capable so I think he's here. sort of you know mentor Regina to help him get through. Some of the things that maybe he doesn't understand about the leak but he's also here that you can feel that pressure and understand that he doesn't perform. There's a guy that stepped Q and then sticking going to probably went in a couple of games so. It would surprise me at all yet get off to a rough start management at the end of September or early in October and it's it's just not going well. I would not be strides at all that. Chris the quest let you go in crystal pressed him with a teasing Portland covering jets' training camp for WFAN radio. They bring in Eric Decker which I think it's a good in the receiving corps was. And unbelievably last year they bring in Chris Johnson what roles will both of them play in the offense this year. What records is that the fact that number one saying he's he's come in and he's really at least from what I can tell stated very nice thus far. You know their stay at some young receivers and happened down here in camps mental mistakes and drops. caught everything thrown his way it is in the war already which you know. And the one thing that you know people ought to make the argument while the product for the Broncos offense. This guy really knows what he's doing out there he doesn't have that that the great speed you know that the most agility. What they met people outraged about Michael It's typically without cities is his route running ability and I watch every ceremony as a practice he's talking with a wide receivers coach you see him. Working in slow motion on its mechanics the guys very savvy knows how to get himself open. I think he realized he maybe not the most skilled athlete out there in his so. A better pick up that they can do wonders for whichever quarterback in there. Chris Johnson out of the wild for me anywhere in Q much them in the spring coming up knee surgery we know numbers were down at the site last year. I don't know that was a product in the team or maybe him you know heading toward the back nine career but that the economy that here in the early part training camp he looks. You look strong that the still good he still explosive. He's been getting plenty of so if you tell the UN into the quicker start in a Al. And they kept I think the pretty dynamic backfield and I would say Brito got a healthy that would properly be Eric keep this position on the opposite side of the ball. Chris classic when asked about as the defense Calvin Pace the rookie safety came out and said the best defense in the National Football League. Bold statements come out the jets on a regular basis throughout its ice balls I should get to graduate putt. Com put it into perspective Rex has had some very good defense of their over the years on paper as you sit there at training camp what about this defense where would stack up. No I mean Revis is long gone now for Marty's gone I think there's questions at quarterback for shore where does this group stack up. Yeah I think that they definitely have something that Bruce sit in the secondary it's very young a young group of players guys that are not that's certainly established in the league yet. Secondary that gave up a ton of big plays people last year so yeah they're gonna need to have a bounce back year but I think what you look at what the jets have a spot and that's got a different. We seen Rex Ryan he's spent the past it's usually about the dominant secondary. Right out there about specifically dominant defense line really their front seven that's where it starts that's where fans. And that group I would say it's in terms of talent you have to put them up there with one of the better personally you mean. Mohammed in it and it has been tremendous and the early part of rich indeed that the rookie of the year. David Harrison came out last out of nowhere last year to have a really short on eaten so they have to get up front. I think what comes with the territory is so gonna take notice you're gonna have been the target on your facts though. You know it's all fine and dandy that talk of big game right now as we get that beheaded August but once the lights come on a regular season starts. I think jet defense needs to realize that they're gonna go out and make those kind of statements. They should expect to get teams that efforts. They're gonna have to back that up with their blank so the challenge certainly did have a very scheduled first the year. Specifically somebody opposite they're gonna base that secondary I think wobble they'll. Well no rather quickly cut it it's going to be secondary you know order five maybe seven weeks. Chris thanks as always forgiven your time on the show and enjoy the rest you're staying Cortland. All right guys thanks grabbed of the audience in. Thank you Chris have a good day crystal prestige WFAN with the update on jets training camp specifically general looking good so far jets' training camp. What's coming up and extend a sports that. A couple of changes coming to. Soccer on the college ranks. He seemed they're going to do this could help that this status of soccer in the US. Which of that and out last night's big television event. Featured a sports and of sorts. You know us. No puzzled by his bachelorette finale all line missed I'll that's what I wanted that room to herself major sports okay. It's. This. that was quick thing on. College Soccer. Just a story from the Washington Post basically that there are changes coming may be to College Soccer on the men's side to have it more of a year round sport. As a way to continue to grow American soccer town right now what they do is too much of a season into a short time and they would have basically beat. But a full year Yeah somebody thought I don't know who was Jeremy we're doing World Cup stuff remember we had a guest on the show. And even I don't know but where they pointed out. That one of the ways you can improve soccer in our country of course LS is getting better that helps is the or are. The college teams and to put commitment of the College Soccer which can help College Soccer you're getting more youth participation but as you go up the you know. The the latter so to speak. Youth leagues high school college that you need you need to do more to promote College Soccer and that we have. And improved analysts would help build the base for better team US everybody US program. Tim Howard the goalkeeper for the US men's national team. Is signing on NBC sports group. On air team in a multi year agreement announced today work up the ten Premier League games this season serving as a game analyst. In the or an on site studio for the game. Pregame halftime post game shows. His assignments will be scheduled around Everton matches and focus on top tier games. Now. The best thing about him in that setting would be. You can talk about the different strikers and for players like how good I don't want you know as usual. You gotta gotta you've got an active goaltender. Talking with the players actively in the league. That's fantastic that's perfect he's got the day off for got the day off. They're called man city against Chelsea just. Talk about the guys. So Tim Tim our. I've got an extend brought snow okay. So there's independent league baseball the Atlantic league you know I favored in this and I have not yet read it. Well. They're making attempts to speed up the game of baseball talk with him one do that all right now. Well if you've ever brought it out a minor league based upon as a more bat look I know they are they endorsing more bad looking there require you Well they're trying to speed up the game there actually implementing some new rules this is not a joke one out in the and this is yeah. This is there was actually Frank Thomas baseball and they came out in 1992. Made he could have one pitch at bats so you strike out. You're out on a foul ball had an employee use chemical that like ten minutes game. Log on one pitch. Yes some of the yes some of these rules from the Atlantic league which again I mean former major leaguers play in this league who can't get jobs. And it's well organized it's not like just some back quickly. Defensive teams only get three timeouts. Per game. Meaning visits to the mound and pitching changes would not count the visits to the mound catcher's going to the pitchers going to the mound to call a timeout. And have your conversation but you only get three of them we entire game yes which. All what I want. I mean. One pitch got to go out and talk to them to walk back second pitch got to go out talk to him in the of the World Series. There's a man on second base its every no lefty righty switch is now like you wanna use like three different pictures and one half You can change pitchers when everyone island that was a limit put out there timeouts that have nothing that I expected okay. Another those those timeouts only lasts 452 rule number two pinch runners will be used for catchers. Not because are slow but because they get so they can put their hero. Somebody else coming to run Patrick what is your again hustle right out there I don't see that it's a big problem right usually they send out a backup catcher to catch forum yet. Number of warmup pitches this one I think is totally right. Reduced from 86 only couple but but sometimes the guys warming up in the bullpen for half an hour dries out it throws eight more pitches. What you're not ready yet. Umpires will be directed. To enforce the rules related to hitters stepping out of the box. Pitchers delivering the ball within twelve seconds when the bases are on occupied to really happen about the that are worried. Is. Kind of like the NFL where a delay of game penalties takes longer than the actual delaying of the game. We've got to stop the design the game has said I have gay guys you guys are totally delaying the game when realities like. it. Let's go. I guess you would just call you take time. That the ball. And that would be yet. Yeah just say that's a that's the penalty take too long and the last one is that umpires will be directed. To control the pace of play. And adhere to the entire strike zone as the fine which will never happen anywhere. Right I mean they're not gonna call that define an that's it it's that's why it's easy. Stay in the batter's box. Cut down on the warmup pitches even pay you got out recorded up to flip the ball around the infield throwback to the step the next guy into the batter's box well up. It's on legacy devoted take a break as the picture ran out a ground ball he's higher than if they can frequently rests on the that take a picture too little of the pitcher going back. But it's right. Stay in the batter's box reduce the number one pitches they'll put the ball in the end. Will political I think some of them are pretty feasible to the major leagues and minor that could speed up the games because. The other is a story out of Pittsburgh Tribune review that baseball games are actually longer now than even more for years ago. Probably if I mean you've got ships now that that work in existence. So you're moving around the defense all the time got more pitching changes more specialized pitchers. I'm mean even in the last five years games have extended by another ten minutes on average over three hours a game. Which is. Rated the top sometimes. Can't get enough. After the game is not as bad but watching on TV for three and half hours and they really sped things up with replays now. I don't which is just it's just killed there was a there was another blocking home plate. Out saying they would not write as many good. We're talking out its heart is coming up next and tomorrow please join us bills training camp bills were off today or are off today. The back on the practice field tomorrow afternoon true to our bills training camp coverage will continue. Tomorrow morning at six please join us then WTO.

At a miserable year they brought a new offensive coordinator of the going to the West Coast offense. And the story out of giants camp sites their new quarterback coach Danny -- -- -- -- -- -- quarterback coach they set a goal of 70% completion rate for Eli Manning this year should all be a 100%. And zero cent one it's close. Unrealistic get a -- -- 499. Let a missile pass. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 7%. But it seems a little unrealistic -- his career completion percentage is 58%. He's never been above 62 they won -- seven. Whatever but the Eli Manning thing got me thinking about OK so so the giants are going in the certainly wanted to cut down and is interceptions

-- -- -- Howard Jerry Matthew and will get right to it we are joined by the CEO of the Buffalo Bills Russ Brandon. Who is a busy -- these days in his given us a few minutes of his time Russ Howard Jeremy thanks for coming on first of all how -- good morning guys -- -- good good appreciated and well I guess -- the first thing I'd like to ask you about is just -- Are you optimistic rats everywhere -- on an emotional roller coaster Jerry Jones is talking about Jon Bon Jovi is the greatest dad and father and husband in the world. And Toronto and all the stuff in the next day. Owners are talking about how buffalo deserves to have a place in the National Football League so for the folks shortlist and we -- wanna know. Whether the team is -- going are you optimistic based on what you hear from from the owners. I'm always optimistic -- you know I think from our standpoint. You know we've talked about this many times it's our responsibility in my responsibility to make sure that this team is. I'm solid footing him in western new York and viable moving into the future of western new York and the last fifteen years off the field we've had a lot of achievements and I think that is certainly. Has certainly advanced spotlighted over the last few months. -- at any point. Did you envision. How this would go I mean obviously this this was -- conversation that with owners that you eventually would have to have. And owners' meetings to -- dissipate getting this much support -- these relationships that. You have with other owners and other things that they are saying. What you expected to be -- They actually Jeremy we being in their room for last seventeen years where is these gentlemen has proved to be invaluable. They obviously know our business well as we know the the businesses. You know of you know of of other franchises and how we go about our business so. You know we try to be good stewards of our brand into the National Football League I think they appreciate that. The relationship. They Edward. Obviously the that was -- more of the focus and and you know talking about -- legacy of what he's meant to the National Football League by. You know from our standpoint. You know were were very mindful of how we run our business and and for more our brand moving forward. Since you mentioned mr. Wilson I'm curious does emotion play any factor in this at all I mean if you do you Q do you think truly. There are owners in the room -- would say were friends of Ralph Wilson or you know feel that you know. Buffalo's been loyal to to the league and they deserve to be -- or does is basically wanted to percent. You know comes down to a business decision. Well obviously there's sort of been a tremendous -- when it comes to. Mr. Wilson but you know at the end of today -- be -- businesses business decision. And will put our best foot forward and. In the process. You -- talk a little bit about the timeline can you give our listeners an update exactly on what the timeline is like right now for the whole process. Well as we've stated previously transaction counsel and an investment bank will be retained. And once that is secured. Then the sales process will. Will move forward. And it's tough to put a time I said this yesterday it's up to put a timeline on it. But that will really began the vetting process. Of the sale you expected vetting process to be more scrutiny -- I guess more scrutinizing them before because of what happening in -- on the events are -- to Gramm and noted that. I know that we will grow about our business in the very methodical manner and keep the league this statement counting. Updated on a consistent basis. I'm I'm very I'm very focused. I think our organizations -- focuses that we've provided deliverables that are needed to the national football. Are you at the point where the number of interested parties like if somebody wants the team that party what you don't know is gonna -- -- you know what. I'm in on this thing if there are ten other ten in the two when he in. And we passed the point where people are calling with -- interest and you have basically the list of parties but then you tell me you're gonna call him and I'm thinking about it but -- Yeah I think interest is high and you know will. And and obviously the bank who goes through all the interest parties and that when we get -- Marc -- on I don't couple weeks ago trying to explain the least to me. Any mention I think like eight to ten parties have called. Is there a number you know how many people have expressed interest. Yeah I would just I would characterize it artists it is interest is -- and not get in the numbers do you is there any. Was there. And out of town group or have there been any out of town groups -- that have backed out because. The least the forty million dollars any restrictions or. The notion that you know what it might be really difficult for me to move this team so I'm just not gonna get interest it. -- enough and I'm aware of Howard you know obviously. When the lease was constructed. We provided mr. Wilson gave us an opportunity to provide. I -- runway to have a long term solution and obviously there are some. Different levers and within the least that really focus on tried them and to making it work. And here in western new York and you know I eight. Our focus over warm bills driver and -- 130 million dollar renovation that we have going on that. I think you're going to be surprised it's gonna significantly. Impact the fan experience in a positive work. Actually you know RC that's on our list to the new stadium discussion I wanted to get that one other thing I'm curious about I know yesterday imagine you really you can't give details about the trust. But it can you tell me -- in terms of the the responsibility of the trust. Are they supposed to just get the highest offer make the most money or does the trust have. Believe way to say. We'd like to find the best bid to keep the team in western new Yorker group that really wants to keep team here. It's a good question armored norm at those and I hate you to be -- I thought about the thing. We can negotiate and know that I -- I. Yeah of course I can't talk about it a lot but it is good talking. It was a pleasure having. Now you mentioned the new stadium and the renovations and yet the commissioner of the NFL twice now the last month. That's pretty much said you need a new stadium for a long term solutions and what are your thoughts about that well. I think that a larger Paris a stadium long term is obviously. Something that needs to be looked -- but that's really what the function of the new stadium working group it is. That also is a function of police were members of the bills organization economy in the state. Are together and methodically going through a process to see if the new stadium makes cents. And are eventually. That very well may be the case but. You know we have an opportunity -- this renovation and two again ever runway where we can go through and go through the studies in the demographics. And they have an understanding. As a group as a community. What the best solution has moved. Or is the sale and try to go with the timeline here -- the sale would happen correct me if I'm wrong the sale would happen before any definitive. Word on whether or not a new stadium would be built right. Hours from insurers so this can't be contingent on it I mean there's no way the league could attach that could and say all right. Rick you know we're gonna approve the sale of the team but it's contingent upon a new stadium being built. I think their parallel past -- from the standpoint of you know the sales process will go through. You know that -- is that different in layers each and every -- a month as we go through with our transaction -- on our investment bank. And then the new stadium working group will continue to work on that path to see what. What the future holds for new stadium more retrofitted stadium or whatever whatever comes up. Started what what is the next step -- the stadium working group from -- those. Weekly biweekly meetings how often the property guys get together and what's the what's discussed at the next one. Are we haven't met since our first name. Germany but I'm I'm sure will be -- meaning you get together soon over the summer probably trend. Russ Brandon Willis -- CEO at which point New York's it would it completed its study with a com which is I think due 1 July 11 -- training camp is after that will -- That's that's something that state is put together so that's not. Part of the working group until the state brings it to you that's outside the scope of understanding -- With retrofit -- the league talked about revenue streams and maximizing revenue and all that we we middle thing I know I think you know new stadium increased ticket prices all that stuff if you stayed with a retrofit going forward could you. Get the support in the league could you maximize the revenue streams and do what you need to do to stay competitive with a retrofit. Well I think that's part of the deliverables -- of going through the studies. Obviously you know you can look at different markets you look at Kansas City in -- they want to remain director of -- You look at Green Bay and Lambeau they went through a major retrofit. And then you look at new buildings like Minnesota and Atlanta and some of the new. Since I've come on stream over the last few years -- I think that's our responsibility to deliver to league what we think makes sense and what we can deliver from a revenue standpoint it seems like -- league would need a lot of convincing on a retrofit -- I think that you know aren't our resort to assess our response voted -- to work and then have people weighing in on the decision process on the decision process. Russ I'm sure you're you've done studies and are very. You know well versed on price points and what this market could support. If they got to the point where new stadium was approved report people thought OK we have to build a new stadium. How confident are you the market could handle what might come along -- it increased ticket prices. That that Howard again you know not sound like a broken record here but that that all goes. Hadn't and -- is what we're talking about right there you know what does that come with the visit comes with. Obviously new ticket prices it comes with PS cells potentially come to market bear that. It comes with luxury suites set -- you know higher price points and we currently. As you know we've discussed many times -- on the show. We are a volume business we have so over 7000 seats in the building. Over under in twenty suites and in the building is sixty or 8800 club seats. Those are that's a lot of inventory to move. But we also are very mindful of the price. Moving forward our new stadium would bring obviously different levels of inventories and that's hard our realization. My favorite overused word but it is it is a part of it Rochester. Off to the GT is very important to us move for. -- you introduce -- realization. Are your regional -- region allies nation out is there any more you could do. I think we have a very robust market you know within the triangle and from -- Richard Serrano. Obviously we've we know what the GTA in in southern answer or what they've meant to us over the last five years back here at Ralph Wilson Stadium. Rochester market is very good to us. Also in the corporate. Landscape. So you know we need just in to keep cultivate and that triangle because when you look at it. I demographically. Than you become a rather large market. Do you. I want one thing just cleared up for me rush you guys have club seats you don't have. You don't have PS cells right at the stadium what you -- is there a feed the people pay to get into the club seats in the restaurant earning your rear and going around it's your product -- the license -- and its attention to approach. Right India so there is a license fee and no that's not considered a PS -- that's different idea PS cells different it's a different way at no additional layer. Of the -- -- -- -- Or let you go maybe the most important question do you also respect Bon Jovi is a father. More than anybody else maybe more than anyone you know you know I I I missed that one so. I'm I respect Howard is boundaries of music. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I would you know -- I would lower my ticket prices they about price the market at Citi Field I know you love John meant to do I I receiver Kozyrev met like there's -- starting to bring back the needs -- in the -- and take that you're not that old Ross I'm impressed I gotta tell you. We have talked about. Yeah actually I know that we talk about that term in our retirement issues so that's it that's when I got to step out answer it by Russ thanks for coming -- -- -- okay guys have a great day YouTube.
